Works perfectly in this position. Autopilot p85d
is it upside down so as to get the part of the transponder with the switch closest to the black dots on the glass?

I found upside down worked, right way up didn't. I think the antenna is near the switch.
Have you tried upside down?
I did. It worked one day and didn't at all the next. Switch near headliner or switch near the base of mirror? Is the point to get switch on or near black dots?
Btw, I put it on top of rear parcel shelf and it worked perfectly.
Switch near headliner,
I put it up in the corner as much as possible.
Beeps every time
So, upside down, edges touching the headliner AND the Autopilot camera base?
Yup. Check the last pic
No worries, hope it works ☺
I spoke with Tesla tech support just now. They said folks have had success mounting on the rear glass--to the right or left of the speaker housing.
Has anyone tried this?
The windshield spot is still not consistent for me, but rear shelf is 100%. Looks like I'm going to Velcro to a permanent spot...
Here are pictures of my location. I'd like to mount on my rear glass but i'm afraid to mess up my photosync tint...

I would not install the ugly transponder anywhere visible in the car because ... well, it's ugly. Luckily, at least NorCal bridges have license-plate reading ability so you just have to login to your account at Fastrak, attach your car/license plate to the account, and never have to worry about the transponder again.
You get charged the FASTRAK rates for this, not the retail rate!!
