Will it hold my garbage cans? (I miss Wagons and SUVs, not liking CUVs.)

Its a bit beyond your stated budget, but have you looked at the XC40 Recharge? https://www.caranddriver.com/volvo/xc40/specs https://www.caranddriver.com/volvo/xc70/specs I don't know the size of your garbage cans, but the XC40 seems close to the XC70 on the specs that seem to be limiting the...

Mercedes EQS Sedan: Rival to Tesla Model S

Wish they could have leaned a little bit closer to the concept version of the vehicle, as it is the exterior just looks too much like the "bubble" vehicles we were getting in the 90s (particularly a Saturn) for my taste. As much as people keep saying the Model S is "dated" I still fall in love...

Blog Electric Hummer SUV Slated for Early 2023

Short bed pickups look awkward to me (even Rivian, which I'm mostly excited about, looks unfinished with that bed size), I much prefer this version. Given that this much more closely resembles the Hummers that people remember, I'd think THIS is the version likely to generate excitement about the...

Ford: Quality is job 1 or maybe job 2 or 3....

Seriously, ANOTHER Mach-E thread for this stuff? Feel like the Mach-E forums just need to make a Tesla owners sub-forum for you guys that need to run around delighting in this stuff instead of the multiple topics rehashing the same things over and and over here.

    Humble Motors SUV

The FAQ does note that it can be charged via outlets and EV charging. The FAQ section notes it the battery as having a (calculated) 500 mile range and being able to charge via outlets and EV charging and fast charging (presumably Level 2 and Level 3).

Blog Rivian Announces Exclusive “Adventure Network” of Chargers

Yes, to be clear no one is suggesting Rivian has create a new plug standard or system. Exclusive does not mean proprietary, rivian will be using the same CCS plug as most everyone else.

Blog Rivian Announces Exclusive “Adventure Network” of Chargers

Though to be clear, Rivian is installing two types of chargers, 3,500 DC fast chargers, the "Adventure Network," which is exclusive to Rivian, but is similar to the rollout of the EA and Supercharger networks in regard to how its being planned and located (highway trips, city to city routes...

Drove and then leased an Audi e-Tron

Really? I've never had an issue getting loaners or with the quality of the loaners I get, and they're usually offered, I've never had to complain or haggle to get one. The one time I had a hiccup was when they had no loaners on site, but in that instance they called a rental car company and had...

    Thoughts On e-tron GT Family

I really love the e-tron suv, but after seeing some reviews of the GT version that interior just doesn’t do it for me. Can’t really peg why, just doesn’t feel quite as lux as the SUV does. Skip both and go for the cross turismo! (and to answer your other question, I haven’t driven the GT, but...

    edmunds range ratings

Weird someone else tried to make this point in another thread, to repeat myself though MPGe figures are NOT range figures, you can’t really even use them to extrapolate range. The EPA only posts one number for range, which is what most reporting relies on, no one talks about MPGe #s, combined or...

Rivian Charging Network Charger Specs Revealed: 300kW + 200-920V output

Aren't most level 3 stations going that way? Even Tesla V3 look to be eliminating the power sharing. (or am I misunderstanding what you mean by power sharing?)

    Latest Rivian news

I think the price becomes especially competitive when you compare it to similar form factors in the market, rather than other EVs. The 7 seat Range Rover and Infiniti QX80 both start at $69,500, the base Land Cruiser is $85,000. Rivian is appealing to a market of vehicle buyers that people...

    Hyundai Ioniq 5

The city/highway ratings are MPGe #s, not range. EPA only posts one number for range (they SHOULD break it down by city/highway IMO though). MPGe is maybe useful in comparing the efficiency of different EVs to each other or to ICE vehicles, but it isn’t a terribly helpful number in really any...

    Hyundai Ioniq 5

Tesla had to hit that 300 mile range cause everyone kept saying that's the "barrier" for EVs, and the 0-60 times was just Tesla proving EVs can be fun. But now that we're there, EVs are more common (kinda) I don't think you have to hit crazy specs to convince people they're real cars anymore...

    Hyundai Ioniq 5

Apologies if I'm missing it, but was surprised to see no discussion on the announced Ioniq 5. I kind of love it, iit looks so comfy! edmunds range ratings

I think an easy way to make EPA numbers more accurate (and more helpful) is to have a highway rating and a city rating, just like they do with MPG figures (it stumps me that they don't already do this). 340 miles on a Model X is GREAT! But no one is driving 340 miles around town in a day, and...

    An African Boy's Crazy Plan

There are other threads that discuss this, but isn’t taking a Tesla to another country kind of a pain? Charging infrastructure aside, so much of the Tesla operates as a connected vehicle, that a lot of that functionality gets lost when you switch countries as the networks aren’t compatible...

    Best Non-Tesla for Road Trips?

This. The E-Tron has also been reviewed favorably on road trips because of how it maintains the charging curve, keeping charging times (relatively) quick, even if it’s not V3 speeds.

Mustang Mach-E wins the NACTOY award

I think the exciting thing, for EVs, to keep in mind with stuff like the Mach-E and other legacy models, is for a lot of people that Mach-E will be their first EV experience. By all accounts the Mach-E sounds like a great and comfortable driving experience. I'm sure we all remember the first...

Would you buy an Apple Car?

One of the things to remember, a reason people often compare Tesla to Apple is the vertical integration. When Apple got into the world of cell phones, the reason they made their own cell phone rather than just creating an OS for someone else was, in part, because they couldn't get any of the...

    Aptera

I don’t think they have to “match” Tesla’s investments, but invest an amount that would be proportional to their usage. While that might be a daunting figure for legacy automakers who obviously would just rather let other companies spend that money, with this being a niche car, that might not be...

Do Non-Tesla BEV Buyers Even Think About Level 3 Long Distance Charging?

I guess its one of those things where you'll see what you want to see, but using the link you provided and filtering it to the J1772 combo connector, which is the DC connector the mentioned automakers use (I believe only the Leaf is still using a Chademo) shows quite a bit of selection, hardly...

    Porsche Taycan

Taycan Cross Turismo spotted i the wild. I can't remember where it was but there was a discussion about EV station wagons and someone was a bit wary of the Taycan version because the "cross" in the name hinted at it being lifted, but this one in the video at least looks like its keeping quite a...

Long Way Up movie - electric motorcycle trip

The Zero gets a touch more range (10 miles for the DSR, which is the adventure series), but if you opt for the 18kwh battery it gets almost 50 miles more range. But the Livewire can DC fast charge in 40 minutes, the Zero is limited to level 2 charging, which for a road trip WOULD make a pretty...

Long Way Up movie - electric motorcycle trip

Interesting, when I first heard about the show, I kind of thought using one of the Zero adventure bikes would be a better fit for this than Harley's Livewire, but assumed Livewire got the edge because its the only motorcycle with DC-fast charging, odd to see they didn't try to create a network...

Long Way Up movie - electric motorcycle trip

I don't think this is an EA charger issue. The show promoted that Rivian had built its own network of charging stations along the route for the series, but the first 3 episodes that network isn't anywhere to be seen.

Tesla M3 in Spokane and where to get ceramic coating

If you're asking about Ceramic Pro, there are Ceramic Pro shops in Spokane and Seattle and Boise (I see you're in Moscow, so mentioning those cities cause they all seem like they'd be closer drives...though Boise is probably a coin toss). Lucid Releases Video Foreshadowing Air's Crazy 1/4-Mile Acceleration

I feel like we're in such an odd spot with EVs and Tesla fans (of which I am definitely one). Latest Rivian news

I suspect the costs for that were (at least to some extent) offset by the show's production, since they're focusing on doing an electric road trip this season they'd need charging regardless. Or if you were referring to me hoping they'd build charging stations in more off the beaten path...

Blog Lucid Says 2021 Sedan Will Pack 500 Miles of Range

Its not a fancfiful claim though, FEV Labs tested it, using the EPA procedure, to come up with the 500+ figure (517 miles was their evaluation). Motortrends did a real world test on the vehicle driving it 100%-0% and got 490 miles.

    Latest Rivian news

Rivian built a charging network up South America for their appearance in the Long Way Up series, so maybe they won't be as adverse to building out charging stations as other automakers (would be especially neat if they could build them in the far flung places, since they're meant to be off road...

    Lucid...SUV!

HERE THEY ARE... LUCID AIR & SUV PICS Looks pretty conventional, but so does the Air, the interior (and the specs) are really what sets the Air apart, I'm guessing with the extra space of an SUV Lucid will be able to up that interior game a bit more.

Restoring Supercharging on Salvage Tesla Model S

I've watched his stuff too, but from what I recall Tesla disabled supercharging on his salvaged titles as well. As far as I can tell (solely from watching Rich Rebuilds, so I'm far from an authority), a salvaged Model S/X gets supercharging disabled, Model 3/Y seem to be able to still use it...

So Who Will Be Watching this All-Electric Cadillac Lyriq REVEAL 8/6/20 7pm EDT!?!?

Agree, nothing is being reinvented here, but this is a good entry into the SUV/CUV EV market. I dig the heck out of that interior, though we'll have to see how much of that makes it to the production version. The exterior looks like a Caddy SUV, though again, we'll see if it still looks like...

Why is Audi E-Tron selling so well in Norway?

Audi's naming convention of just calling every EV an e-tron is kind of confusing, but the Q4 e-tron, slated for 2021 has a base price of 40k EUR, its a different tier model from the currently available 75k EUR 55 quattro e-tron and 60k 50 quattro e-tron. Q4 is to Model Y where e-tron quattro is...

    Latest Rivian news

The linked clip is very much a Rivian commercial, so not sure how much they'll be the focus of on the show itself. On the one hand, The Long Way series is about motorcycling, the original series had 4x4 support vehicles as well but they were not really something the show spent time with. BUT...

Audi E-Tron Sportback digital matrix LED light

The naming convention makes it confusing, but these are a slight upgrade. The Matrix LED headlights, which are likely what you saw, have been an AUDI feature for a bit now are neat in themselves. Audi E-Tron Sportback digital matrix LED light

Like any headlights, I doubt the power consumption on these will be in any way negligible. Honda E?

FYI Chevy did have to get permission from Yamaha to use the Bolt name, I assume such permission probably involved cash. There's less of a concern for market confusion between a motorcycle and a car though, so Yamaha was probably a little less reserved sharing the name. As for why Honda could...

    Fisker Ocean (VW MEB)

I presume he's talking specifically about the MEB platform, which will be a shared platform amongst different models (and potentially manufacturers), so millions amongst the platform, not Fisker. Though to me its crazy that they are this far along (or I guess, really, this far behind) and are...
