    What's Tesla Cooking?

Obviously they're working on a rewrite of the autopilot software that includes an AI powered USB music player

    Drivers seat a tad loose

my 2019 S started rocking after < 10k miles, so they've clearly not fixed this issue yet. Unbelievable they can't figure this out.. never had any car seat move whatsoever. Will see what service says in a week..

    Launch mode gone?

launch doesn't work in cold weather. it's in the manual

    The argument *against* a 2nd gen Model S & X

nope, I got this repair done with the so called new parts and it's back after a few months.. also not fixed.. is happening to new cars still imo the look of the car is still great. I don't think there's much need to change there. Plenty could still be improved in the internals. Parking...

    Tesla VS Taycan

They got some strange results for sure. I don't get advertised range on my p100d but 222 miles is worse than I get even in Canadian winters (usually get like 250). Never had a 6 second launch even at 10% battery, the hell did they do?

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

I got it fixed less than 2 months ago and it's already back... still quiet but definitely back and will probably get worse over time again. They told me it was the new parts so I guess there's no real fix to this? Has anyone had the fix and not had the shudder come back for more than a few...

Do I just sue Tesla? New record for getting Powned

to everyone debating whether the 12v was right or not.. it's irrelevant. This service experience is atrocious. This is a new low for them. Tesla should never be delivering cars with massive issues like that, taking forever to respond, not being clear/honest about what's going on, being hard to...

    Is sentry recording a joke?

it's definitely a hacked in feature, but I'm very grateful to have it at all
  9. shellderp

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

had the same experience. immediately identified as SB and no hesitation to fix. been fine for a month now

What happened to my battery preheat?!!

Battery preheat showing up first time in a while. -2c outside on 2019.40.50.1

Elon confirmed addressing my biggest Tesla software deficiency: Tight Parking/360 view

I'm very skeptical. Check out what the cameras see when parking in this video at 7:50 You can't even see the lane markers in the b pillar cameras because they're so high up. I would like having repeater cameras for backing up and blind spots though
  12. shellderp

What happened to my battery preheat?!!

my guess is they introduced a bug when they added scheduled preconditioning.. that feature is super buggy in general
  13. shellderp

Does the S have more "pull" at higher speeds?

I've done similar against a few beefy looking german cars and usually keep up until at least 105mph (and they start pulling first, so no downshift penalty). At that point I don't want to risk losing my license anyway. I think people underestimate the p100d at high speeds because they compare it...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

wish I could do more with the steering wheel right menu button, like turn on the heated steering wheel. I'm toggling that every 20 minutes while driving in the colder weather
  15. shellderp

Not having regen after the last software update sucks

as of a recent update the battery no longer preheats when preconditioning from the app, could that be why you see a difference in regen? When I'm coming out of my warmed apartment garage I don't see any difference, but if I park outside overnight it takes a long time to get it back

2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo Gets EPA Range Rating Of Just 201 Miles

it's pretty easy to put it into neutral if you're going to coast for a more than a few seconds. Sometimes I do it when I'm bored. It can be a bit dangerous if you are going slow because you have to hit brake to go back into drive
  17. shellderp

Does the S have more "pull" at higher speeds?

stomping it at 60mph still jerks you hard, but at 80+ it's much weaker. If you must have that power at any speed, wait for the model S plaid or the roadster. The feeling at low speeds is unbelievable

    Supercharger - Kitchener, ON

The tech at the SC said they'll be open in spring. Not sure how much they really know, though.
  19. shellderp

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

Had the notorious model S/X acceleration shudder repaired at Kitchener SC today. The team is really ramped up now, much more organized than when they just opened. Dropped me off at work and all, really professional. Had the parts in stock and only took a few hours. Tech told me they're going to...

best floor mat for winter and snow?

I like maxpider, it's sleek and has high side walls on the left foot rest. I've left some snow on it with no problems

    $10 Month for Premium Connectivity

given how bad music streaming is, the decision for me is if the traffic data is worth $10/mo. probably not.. will depend if it routes with or without traffic with standard connectivity

    Winter tire recommendations

Even the super sports will lose traction if you floor it when it's wet lol. If they can handle a dry launch though I'd be happy. My xice just spin on dry road. We got a nice pile of snow and ice today so I'm glad I have the xice today!
  23. shellderp

    Winter tire recommendations

I had the same thought process with using the WRG4s year round. You really want the best summer tires possible for this beast. Even the pilot sport 3 it came with lose traction on launches. You can't spend this much on a car and skimp on the tires, arguably the most important part you can...

Question from a guy driving Manual transmission for 15 years

I do this sometimes but it can be a little scary when it refuses to go back into Drive if you are going fairly slow it will complain that you haven't pressed brake
  25. shellderp

Which winter tires are you biying?

Yeah the X-Ice are depressing to drive on for a P car. I'm considering replacing mine with Michelin Alpin PA4. Where are you guys ordering tires? I got the X-ice at Kaltire but they don't have PA4s in the model S 19s size
  26. shellderp

    Winter Tires Recommendation

I just got the x-ice and I regret it, because they can't handle any performance. With a performance car you should get performance winter tires or you'll be sad. That is unless you drive somewhere with tons of snow.

    Did you reserve the cyberTruck?

I'm very curious to see one in person, but no way I'd drive one :p maybe the police will buy some..

    Seat belt buckles noise

sorry to bump.. but I just discovered this too. What a silly rattle. The other side of this anchor is also covered in felt, wtf tesla just cover both sides

    Winter tire recommendations

lol even the associate helping me at the delivery center was telling me they are all seasons, as I was pointing at the tire saying they are summers. They have no clue sometimes. Ask if they can swap the tires on delivery. I wouldn't try to get home on the summers, I've heard these ones start...

    Winter tire recommendations

right, only 21s are staggered. btw, annoyingly, all the Tesla advisors I asked before I got to pick it up told me it comes on all seasons, but they were wrong
  31. shellderp

    Winter tire recommendations

expect to get summer tires. They told me it always comes with them. I got mine in april and it was still sketchy to use summer tires

I heard spotify is also riddled with bugs :\

Love Tesla. Love my car. Wish Tesla would please fix the USB Audio Player.

It's gotten worse for me in the last few months, not sure if its the software update or my usb drive. I used to get music to resume 90% of the time, now it shows the blank screen 100% of the time. I also hate how the song list disappears so you have to reselect an album, and if you're in the...

Costco told me Michelin X-ice Xi3 wont fit with my SR+

Went to Kaltire in Waterloo today. Was great. They knew everything about Tesla, didn't have to say anything. Jack mode, jack points, right torque, PSI, no problems mounting tires. Just hung out there for an hour with wifi. Looks like they get teslas daily here cause I saw another one in the lot too.

Model S to the Nürburgring Next Week!

but the model 3 perf has one induction motor and doesn't seem to overheat? I think the real reason the new roadster won't overheat is because it has the third motor that is geared to be powerful at high speeds so it doesn't need to spin too fast
  36. shellderp

Model S to the Nürburgring Next Week!

I can do 0-80mph launches for an hour on my p100d too, the real issue is high speeds

Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

what do you expect me to do with a p100d? not launch it at every possible opportunity?
  38. shellderp

Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

I use follow distance 3/4 and no jerkyness. I guess I am used to driving spirited so autopilot in comparison is very chill. Do you all experience jerkyness even on wide, straight highways?
  39. shellderp

Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

my S has hw3 and it's very smooth.. still gets phantom breaking but that's the only complaint. just one piece of anecdote..

Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

maybe I'm just a jerky driver, but my gf finds it noticeably smoother with autopilot on

Should Model S get new electromagnetic windshield wiper system?

Am I the only one who has no issues with the wipers? they're like every other wiper I've seen
  42. shellderp

    Has Model S quality improved?

They've made a lot of gradual improvements over time to the interior. I've had no problems with interior quality and everyone thinks it looks and feels awesome. I'd say my bigger issue with the "quality" of this car is software bugs. A few times I've had full crashes or fail to start up and it's...

Model S to the Nürburgring Next Week!

they can surely just put different brakes on the S if that's an issue, and maybe avoid max performance so it doesn't thermally throttle

    EV's being considered "Green"

A model 3 carries as much energy as 2 gallons of gasoline. That's just how efficient it is to use electric motors vs ICE. Even if all EVs were powered by gas generators, we'd still be polluting far less. Where I live over 50% of power is nuclear and we use 0 coal, so I think it's green. The...

    Porsche Mission E

at this price point, why wouldn't you get a 2020 roadster? (assuming it comes out on time, and is all that is claimed to be, and beats the taycan on the track)

    Dragy

yeah I was wrong, it is around 2.7 without rollout. I was looking at vbox numbers which include rollout
  48. shellderp

    Dragy

but motor trend claimed 2.28 with rollout, and tesla claims 2.4. Actual dragy times are like 2.5 without rollout
  49. shellderp

    Dragy

as for why you'd want a dragy.. I want to verify my car is getting the performance I'm paying for, also when I switch to all season tires I'd like to know I'm not sacrificing any. Hard to justify paying for it though just to use it a few times
