    V10 and Battery "Degradation"

Supercharge the day before??? Where would I do that exactly??? There is no charging for 25 miles from where I stay each weekend. I charge on the way there, about 55 miles away. I do about 100 miles local driving and have a hard time making it back to the same Supercharger. This last weekend...

Distraught by rapid loss of maximum battery storage

Yes, and my point is that it's not a couple of minutes at a Supercharger if you don't have the range to get to where you want to go without stopping, again and again. Until they get more Superchargers installed so that I can use the range my car provides I will need to stop to charge when...

SR+ Regen Dots Anytime Above 55%

Sure seems to me like the car has something wrong. I'd say a visit to the service center is in order. When I start out on cooler mornings the regen is limited no matter what charge level I have. It can take considerable driving to get the regen back to full, at least half a hour and maybe...

    My 20-day-old Model 3 got rear-ended today...

I nearly whammed into a car the other day when I was driving off autopilot. Stop and go driving can be very tiring and difficult to remain focused in. Good thing the brakes worked so well. I'm sold on the anti-lock thing. I can't lock up the brakes if I want to. That's so much better than...

So you are recommending that most of the manual is not important to read?

    V10 and Battery "Degradation"

That's the problem. Trip planning is interactive... that's why it's planning and not just informing the car. I need to know the remaining charge if I travel to my destination and then to a charging station. No way to get that info from the in car navigator. Well, not until I've reached my...

Sentry Mode (Update: didn’t set up the proper folder, now working)

I'm sure it's just a typo, but to be clear Windows will support flash drives larger than 32 MB. Windows won't format a larger flash drive in FAT32. The error message I got was that some speed around 4 MB/s was required and my flash drive was no longer running at that rate.

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Be careful putting anything under the blades in cold weather. They may hold that deformed shape for some time. Better to put something under the arm only. Hopefully this won't operate in a manner to limit your range. I'd prefer that the heater only come on once I reach the Supercharger and...

Distraught by rapid loss of maximum battery storage

The problem with stopping at every charger along the way is that you end up spending an inordinate amount of time charging compared to driving. An 8 hour trip turns into 10 or 11 hours. I should be able to drive for four hours and stop to eat while charging. But it never works out that way...

Distraught by rapid loss of maximum battery storage

I agree, Tesla does not share many, many details that are important to new owners. They say this is in the manual, but the manual is HUGE!!! It is very hard to read and even then much of the wording to warn you about things that impact the capacity of your battery are written to disguise the...

Any interest in a self hosted automation system for Tesla?

It's not a matter of patience. You aren't giving us any idea of what you are talking about. You talk about "solution" but fail to mention the problem! What does this thing do? Why should I continue to even read this thread?

    V10 and Battery "Degradation"

I'm pretty fed up trying to figure out how to make sense of the range issues. There are the issues of consumption while driving, but then there is unaccounted for consumption when not driving. Trying to track all of this is a bear. Bottom line is the car will use a bunch of energy no matter...

Sentry Mode (Update: didn’t set up the proper folder, now working)

In case people are aware, up to 32 GB, FAT32 is the default format for a flash drive. Above 32 GB Windows may format it with a different format type which the Tesla won't recognize. You may have to use third party software to format the flash memory. I haven't tried it, but you should be able...

Sentry Mode (Update: didn’t set up the proper folder, now working)

I had a memory stick working for some months. Then a few days ago it got full. I pulled off a bunch of Sentry mode videos and put it back in, but it keeps shutting off. A warning message said it wouldn't write fast enough. I'm going to reformat it and try again. It really shouldn't slow down.

    Supercharger Middletown NY

We had this problem in Leesburg, VA for a few weeks. Not only did the Superchargers not show up on various web sites the chargers themselves would work or not work depending on the day and the particular pedestal you picked. I never had any trouble with them, but some would report problems...

what happens when a powerwall2 fails?

I don't know for sure, but I'm relatively certain that all power to the home does not go through the powerwall in the same way a UPS powers your computer. This would require a very large generation circuit in the powerwall. Instead I believe the powerwall detects the phase of the power line...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Not sure I understand what it is you feel is happening when regen is turned off or down. Regen only acts when the car is slowing down or you are going down a steep hill. Those are the times you want regen to kick in because the alternative is to use the brakes which work with 0% recovery of...

Any interest in a self hosted automation system for Tesla?

I'm a geek and it looks like you are as well. So you are all about the technical details. But do you know your market? I am somewhat technical (Electrical Engineer) but I have no idea what your idea would do for me. What is the utility of a 'Tesla server"??? Before you get into all the...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

I'll make it easy for you. 0.8 C rate is 1.25 hours, by definition of C rate. Look it up, it's the charge rate where the full capacity of the battery would be depleted in 1 hour. So at 0.8 C rate you get 1.25 hours. The fallacy is thinking all lithium batteries are the same. They...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

"Information"... I had someone on the 800 number tell me that using Ludicrous mode even once voids your warranty. It's not easy to get "information" from Tesla.

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Maybe my reading comprehension is not so good, but I don't understand what you mean by "When I point out that is what they hope to achieve, not why they did it in the first place". To save me searching back through the hundreds of pages, what exactly are you capped to and which battery do you...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Then there is the fact that the number displayed is an integer that is rounded off in the calculations. So figure when it first reads zero it is actually 0.5 per cent or miles then that means you have a bit further to go until it actually reaches true zero, half a mile, half a percent, pick one.

How do you replace Model X wiper blades?

That's how my windshield cracked. First time I used the remote car heat mode when i cam out it looked like there were rivulets of water on the windshield. Driving didn't move them and I realized I had three cracks starting at the bottom and running up about two feet. After a bit of a...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Just to get my two cents in. When you question if the BMS is included in the above warranty phrases, I would say it was. The specifics mentions that the battery "protects itself" and later refers to leaving it in a low state of charge. The "battery", if the BMS is not included, would not be...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I seriously doubt it. I remember a video by Bjørn Nyland (I think) where he drives his car until it stopped. He wasn't able to drive over 25 (km/h? m/h?) until he got to the charger. I don't recall if it was on zero the whole time or not. In another video the car said he had 14 km to go and...

Distraught by rapid loss of maximum battery storage

I'm not sure I understand. What 4% are you talking about? Is it the 4% many Tesla owners experience in the first year or two of ownership? There have been a lot of numbers tossed around in this thread.

    Rivian Vs Tesla

I've always wondered why Tesla came out with the model 3 first and the Y second (and why they didn't give the model 3 a hatchback like the S). The Y should be a big seller and I bet it takes market share from the model 3. If you were a large auto maker and could start with any EV you choose...

    Superchargers Doubling in 2019?

I think the point was the long time it took to get the Annapolis charger up and running. Level 2 charging is pretty pointless unless you need a few kW to reach a Supercharger or you can park overnight. I've had to sit sharing a Tesla Destination charger before. It was such a joy when a car...

    Supercharger - Frederick, MD

Level 2 is no substitute for a Supercharger. 6 kW vs. 120 kW. It would be nice if they were available enough to charge anytime you are out and about, but on a trip or when away from home visiting, they aren't much good unless you can plug in overnight. In comparison to the need, there really...
