Mine ended up being a loose cable. They reattached and added lock tight. It was done in one day.

If I move up the front row and middle row each a little, I fit well enough into the third row. It’s not great, but we don’t use the last two seats except when guests are visiting or we are carpooling. And then we usually put the kids back there. I’m 6’1”

For me, $17K would be a big price difference on a $50K car, but on my $100K car it didn’t feel that bad paying more to get peace of mind and greater flexibility.

Update. Tesla gave me a loaner S and towed the X to the SC for MX. I’m obviously not happy about the issues with the car, but the Tesla team has been very nice and accommodating. Hopefully it is all just software based.
