Confused about model type - dealer supplying wrong information (UK)

There is no such thing as a "standard range" Raven. Period. You actually found my factual response funny? Wow

Confused about model type - dealer supplying wrong information (UK)

Wrong. The Raven update (which also includes both the Long Range and performance models) had only a 100 KwH battery pack. 75 kwh battery packs have not been made since 2018

    Used Model S 2016.5 inquiry

@PCMc - great write up and feedback! I have the exact same car as you had but mine is a 75D. Regarding the Pano roof maintenance - is it straightforward to clean the drain lines yourself? I know you mentioned that you had yours done at your local SC. I've never had mine maintained yet and after...

Any clue why range was reduced on MSP but not MSLR?

Not to trivialize your very valid concern, but how is a slight reduction in range going to make any difference for your trips? We're not talking about 50 to 100 miles reduction here after all. Plus it's not recommended to go below 20% SOC anyway unless you absolutely have to. Unless ofcourse...

20" Model X Slipstream Wheels on Model S

It's all personal preference really. To me it's worth it, that's why I did that "upgrade". Here's my car with the 20inch MX slipstreams (I had a tire blowout here, but the pics clearly show what the wheels looked Iike)

Model S - Front Plate Adhesive

He's right about the plate coming loose. I had the exact same issue after I had PPF installed on the bumper. I tried two different adhesives without any luck . Finally I tried this and it hasn't budged in the slightest. Just be careful to thoroughly clean both surfaces with rubbing alcohol...

No it isn't. The LR and Plaid is the exact same size.

    2024 Model S vs. Plaid

You prefer the "styling" of the Plaid? The "styling" is simply the spoiler, the Plaid badge and the red brake calipers on the exterior. You can change the color of the calipers and add the spoiler easily. The interior has the CF trim option and you can also change that easily with some...

    2018 P100D or 2020 Performance? Buying Advice

For the reasons others have mentioned already - better range, charging speed, newer features and a longer warranty. It's definitely worth getting a newer S.

2018 P100D vs 2020 performance vs 2019 Long range Model S-which to buy?

Assuming the "conditions" of all 3 are similar - as in mileage, features, no issues or accidents etc, I would always choose the newest one simply because of the (in order of importance) warranty , range and charging speed. Drive units and batteries have generally been reliable for those years ...

Is the Model S worth it over the Highland M3?

Clearly you haven't seen a Model S to ask this question. This would be the same as asking if a Range Rover SVR sport is worth it over a Range Rover Evoque. Or if a BMW M5 is worth it over an M2. Completely different classes of vehicle.

Used 2020/21 Model S or new Model 3-LR?

I personally don't understand the overwhelming important and single factor of a very specific level of parking sensors accuracy to determine the expensive purchase of a car that you plan to keep for 6 to 8 years. Obviously a car is much more than just it's parking sensors abilities, that's why...

    All Weather Mats

I've had Tuxmats in my 2016 since I got the car 4.5 years ago. No leaks whatsoever and they look like "luxury" mats compared to the cheap plasticky look of the WeatherTechs. But you're absolutely right, the edges on the sides cave in slightly.

My Taycan vs. My Model S

Thanks very much! Yes I have an AP1 car with the Air suspension and upgraded MCU2. This is very helpful and great to hear about the specific improvements - especially the less noise, improved quality, better sound system (and mine is not even the upgraded stereo), power ofcourse etc I have a...

In with the new, out with the old.

It's not really about how Tesla "values" their cars. They are NOT in the business of selling used cars, period. That's clearly reflected in the prices they offer anyone trying to trade in a car.
  26. SilverGS

    I can't decide!! Used S vs new Y

I'm biased as I wouldn't take a Y over a slightly used S. The looks, practicality (enough space for a fairly tall person in the rear seats, the hatchback versatility ) and comfort just trump the Y IMO. The Y is just too much of an "appliance" for me personally. Not knocking anyone else that...

I can no longer recommend Tesla. Their Service is the Worst

Same here - I'm also in Canada (close to Toronto to be specific) Always got a loaner. Twice it was a Tesla, but the remaining 5 or so times (in the last 4 years), I've been able to get a Model S loaner.

Keep 2016.5 90D or move to 2023 LR?

All I'm pointing out is that it costs a crap load of $ for the enterprise class software in Teslas in general. So I can't see how removing a sensor is cost cutting.
  32. SilverGS

Keep 2016.5 90D or move to 2023 LR?

You realize that it costs millions and millions of $ to hire multiple teams of incredibly smart software engineers that are specialized in enterprise class software engineering/development whose "only" job is the software technology in every Tesla? Yeah, that's cutting cost for sure.

Keep 2016.5 90D or move to 2023 LR?

I have the same car as well and would love to upgrade to a new S for a couple of reasons It's quieter More "luxurious" Warranty Faster Charges a lot faster Much better range Will get significantly more updates Sentry mode Much better stereo Better suspension Much faster MCU with more vibrant...

  47. SilverGS

Anybody interested in a lighter weight Plaid?

IMO, light and sporty is not yet in the cards for an EV. Batteries are heavy , they account for about 1000 lbs of the Model S's weight. Swapping out wheels, tires, hood, etc is just getting on the diminishing returns train.
  48. SilverGS

Is the Model S a villian now?

Some of the review is not completely off (sub par brakes, no stalks, steering ratio not setup correctly for a yoke etc), but overall it seems biased against the Plaid mainly around driving dynamics. The dynamics or lack thereof seems to be the primary focus of the review. I guess that's not...
