    Poor wifi reception

A Ubiquiti U6 Mesh Pro on the (external) garage wall has solved my WiFi problems. Serves both Model 3s well regardless of being parked in the garage or on the driveway. Yes, you will have to run a UTP cable to it but at least it's PoE.

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

Four years since I did it and no misting on either car. I've read of some owners having them changed 3 or 4 times. The bins must be full to the brim out the back of the SCs

    Temporary Insurance for another driver

I've done this and it can actually be cheaper adding them as a named driver permanently than paying for cover just for a number of days, but ultimately it's down to your insurer how they want to do it. Also might be worth asking your friend if his insurer would give him temporary cover on your car.

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

Well, personally I would drive it for 50 miles and see if it went away, but then I'm mechanically minded and have worked on, prepped, driven and raced a variety of cars for >40 years so a little thing like that doesn't phase me like it seems to a lot of people these days (not wanting to sound...

    Water filtration system -SA

Vinegar in water will remove water spots but if you threw a bucket of water with some vinegar in it over the car and left it you'd still get spots. You would still need to dry it with a microfibre to prevent staining. A deionisation (DI) resin-based system is the most effective way of avoiding...

Water in rear lights, where to buy replacement?

Are they working? Do you fancy trying a DIY fix as they're probably the same construction as the Model 3/Y lights.

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

Slight flat-spotting certainly doesn't mean you always have to replace the tyres. All the tyre manufacturers have advice on this if you do a bit more research. As I said above, it could be the newer EV tyres are more prone to it, but if the easiest fix is to take some air out and drive on them...

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

Well if they're already up to 47psi, as someone said above, there's not much headroom left as the max. inflation pressure is likely to be 50psi or so. I'm thinking this has become a problem recently due to the compounds EV/Eco tyres are being made from. Perhaps some particular mixes of rubbers...

Tesla Offering 15000 Free Supercharger miles

If you don't like the incentive, don't use it as justification to buy the car now. Or at all. Moaning about an offer for free stuff because it doesn't fit your use case is really quite cynical.

Tesla Offering 15000 Free Supercharger miles

Free SuC mile incentives have always had an expiry date on them apart from the early days when cars had free supercharging for life. Just because you can't use them all up doesn't mean it isn't a good deal. I had some free miles and couldn't use them all up but it gave me the opportunity to...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Meaningless tests. Different conditions for different cars and no test equipment of any sort visible. At least use a performance meter for the brake testing! If you're going to compare lap/slalom times, each lap has to be driven consistently and in the same conditions. The "long loop" isn't high...

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

You're being a bit over-dramatic. The slight flat spotting these tyres suffer from won't do any damage to the sidewalls and why do you think you're more likely to get punctures? It's annoying at most, but certainly not dangerous to drive on them. 27 psi is a bit low though IMO. OK to drive on...

Rejecting my brand new model 3 Highland

I've already said vibrations can be caused by many things, but in many cases of new M3/MYs delivered in the UK it's been the tyres. It's why the best way to narrow down the cause (after re-balancing) is to swap wheels with a known good car. Then you know it's either the rims or the tyres, but...

    Rubbing noise, front wheel

Can you feel that line? Is it raised or scratched into the surface of the disc? Something may have got trapped between the pad and disc to cause it, but if there's no debris you can see I can't think how it would be making a noise now.
  25. Dangerous Fish

    Rubbing noise, front wheel

That does look odd and I'd suspect it as the cause of the noise. Have you got a pic of the pad that was in that side?

    Rear Brake Lights

There isn't a warning or error which appears on the display but it will generate an alert you can view in the service menu. Unless Tesla proactively message you via the app (assuming it's flagged to them) it does seem a big oversight not to throw a warning on the display. Maybe ask when the car...

    Rubbing noise, front wheel

So the noise isn't the same when you spin the wheel/hub by hand as it is while driving? Any chance you can try and get a better recording of the noise? Is it any different going around corners or with steering on full lock? Does it continue to make the same noise when you gently apply the brakes?

Rear brake discs - 2020 model 3 performance

Nobody will. It'll be too expensive to develop a part like that because they won't sell enough. There are already front discs for M3Ps available which aren't bimetal, but considering the Tesla ones aren't exactly over-engineered, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole personally.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Rejecting my brand new model 3 Highland

Nothing to do with weight. It's the way they were tied down on the boats shipping them from China. This is why it's a UK/EU problem only. In some cases, it can be just a tyre manufacturing issue, but in Tesla's case it does seem to be the transportation. Best way to diagnose is swap wheels with...

    EMF Debate

I can't believe this is being discussed. Is this more anti-EV FUD being spread about? This reminds me of when microwave ovens were first sold domestically. Rear brake discs - 2020 model 3 performance

The Brembo website is wrong. It's been wrong for ages but they don't fix it. Other places like Autodoc/ECP also list the wrong parts for M3P pads and discs and don't fix it. The demand isn't high enough yet for it to flag to them I suppose. Don't buy from ebay unless you know the supplier. You...

    Rubbing noise, front wheel

Your recording just isn't clear enough to tell, maybe because wind noise is interfering? Is it a cyclical noise? i.e. scrape......scrape......scrape etc. and the faster you drive, the higher the frequency? Very doubtful it would be wheel bearing though. Check that the wheel speed sensor cable is...

Rear brake discs - 2020 model 3 performance

You're going to get a very puzzled response from Tesla with that. Where have you read that's a known fault? It's not, it's the design of Tesla's M3P discs as said above. They are made out of two pieces of metal unlike the ECP ones you show which are all one cast piece. Don't trust everything you...

How much brake fluid do I need to bleed/flush?

In the service menu there's an option to flush the ABS pump. Doing that might take you over 1l. When I've changed mine, the colour difference between old and new fluid hasn't been enough to clearly see when new fluid is coming through, so I've ended up using at least 1.5l just to make sure.

Highland suspension on 2019 Model 3

Some do if they intend to track their cars, that's all. The part numbers in the U.S. EPC are slightly different between Highland and late 2023 ones but personally I doubt there's much of an improvement worth spending the money on them. Rear Control Arm Replacement

Not all arms need to be torqued with the car on the ground/springs compressed, but it's important to follow the service manual for the ones that do, otherwise the bush will be loaded up at rest which will just lead to it failing prematurely. As you can see from the service manual, it's a very...
