Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Same, but below are screenshots doing a test just now with the same server. Connecting my car to my phones hotspot directly saw 100Mbps+ before the browser force closed. It seems like one of 3 things could be happening: The wifi broadcast from the device is malfunctioning The device is using...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

The confusing part is that it’s intermittent. 50% of the time the internet is unusable when connected, the other half it’s normal. It’s almost like the device is sucking up all of my bandwidth or something.

Do you have refresh rate set to fast in the device settings? Mine works fine and I have an atom processor.

I thought that too, but I just looked at my data usage and my account recently refreshed for the month and I’ve only used 3gb total

Going from 2022.20.8 to 2022.24.5 – radar removal or not?

If you have HW3 and are fully updated then radar is disabled. Pretty sure all HW2.5 and earlier cars still have it enabled.
  6. Mikecm1

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Yes I see that. Would be interesting if people here could post their fast.com results on their phone while it’s connected to CarPlay and using Bluetooth hotspot.

Going from 2022.20.8 to 2022.24.5 – radar removal or not?

I had 3 aggressive phantom braking events just this past weekend during a drive I’ve done countless times before with radar without incident. So the “car is driving pretty well” comment doesn’t really jive with my experience. Still so pissed at Tesla for doing this.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

I’ve noticed lately than when using T2C, my phones internet speeds become abysmal. Using speed test app, my ping goes from 20ms to 250ms, and my download speeds from 70-80Mbps to 0-2 Mbps. Anyone else have this issue? It’s like the T2C is sucking up ALL my bandwidth, even when I’m not using it...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Well, figured I’d update on my SIM card usage in case anyone is thinking of going that route. I got a 5GB/m plan thinking that would be sufficient since I almost exclusively use this kit for Spotify, and an hour of streaming on high quality is about 75MB of data give or take. Somehow though, I...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Just found an old iPhone in my drawer, so I set it up to live in the car 100% of the time for this unit. So with the SIM card + cheap data plan + old iPhone - its 100% seamless and working even better than before. Highly recommend doing the same if you have an old phone or want to buy one cheap...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

I just turn it on from the menu. Takes 5 seconds, easier than parking the car if I’m in motion. On another note, I signed up for a $15/3-month 5gb/m SIM card from boost mobile and it works perfectly! Highly recommend grabbing a cheap SIM card for anyone using Bluetooth only. Makes it even more...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Oh gotcha. I thought all the cars with the piano black center console had the USB-A for sentry under the wireless pad. Good to know.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

You don’t have a USB drive there for sentry?

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Well, after a bunch of use I’ve realized that I don’t have to do any type of shortcut/automation hacking whatsoever. Here’s my experience so far: Stable connection: Had a 300 mile road trip the other day and the t2c didn’t disconnect even once, and the browser window stayed open the whole time...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

I haven’t set it up yet with the t2c as I only installed it yesterday, but I have a lot of experience with shortcuts and automations with physical products in both my home and our cars, so I have very little doubt I can get it working properly without much effort. And we’ve never had an issue...
  16. Mikecm1

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Your first problem could be solved pretty easily with automations, eg: 1. when your phone connects to your car or the T2C it toggles personal hotspot on, 2. when you arrive home your phone turns hotspot off then something like wait 30/60 seconds, toggle Bluetooth/wifi off then on so it wouldn’t...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

I just went out to set up the T2C and it was a piece of cake! Took 10 minutes including updating the software to get up and running. Changed the display to HD and refresh rate or whatever they called it to ‘fast’, and it’s smooth as butter, looks sharp, and worked perfectly. Only played with it...

Just checked, yes there’s a sim slot. Maybe they had it listed wrong on Amazon and why they removed it after I emailed them.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Can anyone help me out here, I’m so confused. Last week I bought a T2C direct from the carlinkit Amazon store, but they had 9 different product listings for Tesla, all with different prices. I read all the descriptions and cannot tell the difference between any of them. I’m pretty sure all of...

Service Center coming to Encinitas. Anyone have more information?

Wife and I stopped by the BMW dealership off El Camino Real at 1302 Encinitas Blvd and it was under construction. The sales rep we were talking to said that Tesla was in the middle of renovating it since they’re turning it into a service center and they’re moving their BMW location to Carlsbad...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Any way we could get a filter on the timeline screen? Trying to debug some sleep issues my car is having and it would be super helpful to filter only parking and sleeping events to see when it started happening and if there are any weird trends.

    Anyone using 'Recurrent'?

Good for a dealer, pointless for an individual. If you’re really concerned you can enter service mode and do a battery health test in the car for free and will be more accurate.
  24. Mikecm1

    Anyone using 'Recurrent'?

And also where you drive, how long you spend there, when you go there, how fast you drive, etc. Users location data and activity is super valuable. Hard pass for me dawg. I don’t know who Recurrent is.
  25. Mikecm1

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Totally understand! But if my car is at 5% charge and I charge up by only 5 kWh, my car still shows a higher 100% range so Tessie would theoretically reflect that. I completely get the nuance of legitimizing estimated battery health, but because it’s such a mystifying process, I really prefer to...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Is there any way we could have closer to real-time battery health/estimated range estimates? Currently it only collects data after each charge, but one thing I miss coming from Teslamate is how it would poll the API for range estimates almost constantly, so even if I didn’t charge my car for...

Sequence of actions I should take for lane change on non-enhanced AP?

My wheel requires the same amount of force to change lanes irregardless if I have my blinker on or not. Interesting yours is different.
  29. Mikecm1

Sequence of actions I should take for lane change on non-enhanced AP?

Tesla should give us this option a la carte for $500-$1,000. Locking it behind $6,000 EAP is an asshole move.

    Autopilot on long straight highways

What year is your car and what version software? I use AP every day and all I do is rest my left hand on the bottom of the wheel and I rarely if ever get any nags. If I do it’s only on super long straightaways and I’ll normally just adjust the volume up and down real quick instead of wiggling...

    Solved: wind noise

I did that on my last car, it helped but then the window itself was out of alignment so I had to replace the whole mechanisms to get a tight seal. I’m not saying it’s not fixable but it’s a dumb problem to have regardless.

Tesla Should Allow Access to Public Wi-Fi Through Sing-In Pages

Yeah, I just use my hotspot. Car too far from my router. I leave my phone in the car for a while and when it’s done downloading I go out and grab it.

Going from 2022.20.8 to 2022.24.5 – radar removal or not?

Only if Tesla decides to reenable it in the future, but that seems doubtful based on their history of having to never admit they made a mistake, so I don’t know.

Those with a 2020 LR/P that had a 322 mile EPA rated range, how many miles does your car now show at 100% charge?

Thanks, but I was looking for Model 3 data. Would you mind removing your vote?

Just want to say, you’re a GREAT mod. Cool of you to say this. And thanks again for helping me out with my post yesterday and today! Wish more mods on the internet were actual helpful people.

Those with a 2020 LR/P that had a 322 mile EPA rated range, how many miles does your car now show at 100% charge?

I can’t change it to include 3P, but that was an oversight on my end because I really was looking for answers for both dual motor variants. My mistake!
  39. Mikecm1

Those with a 2020 LR/P that had a 322 mile EPA rated range, how many miles does your car now show at 100% charge?

That was only based on conversations I’ve had with 2019 owners and other info I’ve read. Definitely could be wrong and that could be anecdotal.

    Spotify Daily Mix not updating

It’s not a bug. They just didn’t build it to refresh constantly or implement a refresh button. It only refreshes when you login to Spotify or connectivity is disabled and reenabled. See my comment right above yours for a workaround.

Those with a 2020 LR/P that had a 322 mile EPA rated range, how many miles does your car now show at 100% charge?

Would also love to hear how many miles are on your car along with the rated range. Most people I’ve talked to with similar builds have 100% charge close to mine - 283 (~12.2% loss). I’ve verified this number with CAN bus data (scan my Tesla, tes⸱LAX), service mode, and actual driving tests...

For prospective EV buyers: "How much range will I actually get?"

It would take me a while to find and organize. They’re mostly from Reddit conversations and comments I’ve found over the last 2.5 years of ownership. Almost every person I’ve asked with a car built around 2020 that had an EPA rated range of 322 miles are at similar levels of degradation. I’m...

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

Probably part of it. But more so the problem is Elon. It seems like every day he’s making me more embarrassed to drive a tesla. I’m able to separate the company from the person, but a lot of other people don’t. I didn’t buy the car because of him and it sucks that people associate him with tesla...

Out of warranty repair price list?

Read through their docs on what they don’t cover. They don’t cover battery or drivetrain for example, so I don’t see the point. Those are the costly repairs that you’d encounter.

2022 Model 3 Long Range died overnight

Huh? An EV breaking down has nothing to do with maintenance lol. And this is extremely rare. But that’s what new car warranties are for.

Going from 2022.20.8 to 2022.24.5 – radar removal or not?

Increased from 80 to 85? That doesn’t make sense.. 80mph was only for vision only when it originally released. They increased it to 85 way back in May. And 20.9 was the update disabling radar, you would have needed to stay on 20.8. If you have always been at 80 max then you’ve been on vision...
