    Superchargers in Australia

I don't know how long ago this changed (some time in the last few weeks) but the Hobart pin on the Tesla map now says "coming 2024" instead of "coming 2023". As if that helps at the moment :-/

    Superchargers in Australia

I've been persistently a glass-half-full person over all of the Tesla (and by extension, Elon, Twitter/X) happenings over the last couple of years. At first it was "I guess he was having a bad day when he said that". Then it was "OK he has an opinion, I guess he's entitled to do so". Then it...

    Superchargers in Australia

An absolutely rooted situation for Australia. On the other hand, who's going to be the first to identify the not-a-supercharger-site from the photo above? Hints are: Regional Victoria, private business. We have to keep ourselves entertained somehow!

    Superchargers in Australia

Obviously they'll be using the wireless charging, from the company that Tesla bought last year and was being worked on by Rebecca Tinucci's divis... oh.

    Superchargers in Australia

It's not taboo, it's that it's been asked, answered, and if you ask the same question again, you'll get the same answer. It makes a hell of a lot more sense for service stations, fast food chains and shopping centres to build charging networks, than it does for a vehicle manufacturer.
  7. Chuq

    Superchargers in Australia

Two things: 1) We don't have high standards for the other manufacturers 2) We don't want every manufacturer to build their own separate charging network. Tesla *had* to, because in 2013 no-one else was doing it. And everyone else was so disinterested in it, that they grew to become the market...

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

Yeah, most of the expected etiquette about DC charging doesn't really make sense when applied to AC charging. If someone is slow charging while at a restaurant or movie (say, parked for 3 hours) they shouldn't be expected to come out and move at the 2hr 30m mark. (But similarly if they know...

Tesla owner who falsely claimed car was in autopilot before Melbourne crash pleads guilty

It seems they wanted to get on the front foot of this - hence why they've started to call it "Full Self Driving supervised" for the recent wide release. It's very clear, even to the most intentionally obtuse journalists, what it means. My guess is it won't be called "Full Self Driving" until...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It would be a different branch/update number for us I imagine. (Whirlpool comment says likely the same update as the matrix headlight update, but I'm not sure where that info is from...)

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Spotted on Whirlpool today.. surprised this hasn't spread through the rumour mills like wildfire! The following have appeared on vehicles in the US. https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2024.3.25/release-notes

    Single Phase Charging Options

I have a 7 kW home charger (ChargeMate), also have solar. Pretty much all the time I reduce the charge rate to 3.6 kW so that it chargers at a rate lower than my solar generates. As a start, get a 15A power outlet on a dedicated circuit installed - with the wiring suitable for a 32A load in...

Would you recommend Tesla Model 3 for a P plater?

If it's your first car and you've only just got your license - go for a second hand Tesla. You get all the fun, save $10-20k, and if it already has a few dings or scratches you won't feel bad about adding more. There might be restrictions on P-platers driving certain cars - these are per...

    Cybertruck Australian Tour

Do we know of the ones in China, Japan etc. remained in those countries, and this is a dedicated Australian demo vehicle, or is this a single vehicle doing a "tour" of all Asia Pacific countries? If it's an Aussie one, I expect all showrooms will get a look eventually.

    Order placed in Chile!

How are deliveries progressing - anyone in Chile taken delivery yet? I'm interested to get confirmation that they do use CCS2. A photo from an article seems to suggest they do (see this post) but can't be sure about Reuters these days!

    Superchargers in Australia

I'm pretty sure this is it, just wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. I've just looked up a bunch of other future (un-built) superchargers on there, and I'm wondering what the point is. People just check into them by mistake. ONe that does baffle me however, is this one - Scone...

Tasmanian Fast / Ultra Fast chargers

The 2024 Q2 was the one at the UTas campus in Burnie, in fact I just noticed on Plugshare you have used it :) Yeah, you are hearing from the same source as me (Clive at AEVA meetings!) Many of those were supposed to be last year :( But I do hear updates on various sites on occasion so I know...

Replying from another thread where it was off-topic: I got curious and checked the rate of fast charger openings... So it's been a bit slow but we've had longer droughts! Installing fast chargers is a long process, and we only see the final 10% of it. There are many upcoming sites in...

Thanks - I've set this from "open" to "construction". We do have a new "expanding" status, but that's generally used when the rest of the site remains open as the expansion happens. "temporarily closed" is another one that could be used, but I think "construction" makes the most sense at the...

Tritium asks Qld government for up to $90m bailout

EHT is doing similar - upgrading some older single stall Tritium sites with Kempower setups, transferring the Tritium equipment as secondary units at other sites. They do have $10k+ of Tritium parts on hand, and if this runs our I expect cannibalising for parts will be the next step...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The issue that many people have reported with the iPhone app's "climate" page not showing defrost, camp, dog mode etc. appears to also affect the "location" page - where tapping on a supercharger location is supposed to display site details (usage, prices, etc). Supercharger voting will probably finish for Q1 any day now. This email came from Chargefox "on behalf of EHT" - not sure if everyone got it or just people who have usage history of EHT locations on their account. The prices range from 50-75c/kWh depending on the speed. Idle fee is less than the $1/min used elsewhere, but the basic principle is the...

EV Community funded DC charger is operational

An update on this one: In the middle of last week, the business in Ravensthorpe that hosted this charger suddenly decided they didn't want it anymore and disconnected it/powered it off. This ordinarily wouldn't be an issue, given that the WA EV Network chargers are coming online at a rapid...
