    Jolt EV charging network

We're trying to reduce people using public chargers when they don't need to, to keep them available for those who do! My off-peak rate is 16.8c, so close enough to the 10.8c solar rate that the same logic above applies.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Received 38.9 last night. Curiously, the change notes only listed "minor fixes and improvements". but the "single tap for Autopilot" option popped up as a card (and was highlighted with a blue dot in the menus).

    Jolt EV charging network

Before their car arrives, many people think that hunting down the cheapest (or free) energy is what you need to do, but you soon realise it's the convenience and simplicity of home charging that is the advantage. The follow calculations vary massively based on your solar export rate, but for me...

Not showing as open to all EVs yet either (as all the others on that route are). Maybe a few tweaks still in progress.

Any work happening? NZ pins have recently tended to reflect precise locations and immediate construction activity.

    Supercharger - Mackay, Qld

Quite possible. Although two things point to Tesla using another address: The leaked address list from October 2022 refers to "79 Boundary Rd, Ooralea 4740" (Ooralea Shopping Centre) The marker on the Tesla "find us" map is also at Ooralea Shopping Centre. Ordinarily neither of these would be...

    Jolt EV charging network

Hmm.. I can't help but think that 25 kW charging isn't a great mix with train stations. Someone drives to the station, plugs in, goes to work all day, but their car is then blocking the charger for 5+ hours?

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

That's the same style kit I borrowed from TOCA for my recent trip! I did use the 15A tail once, but the large footprint of the plug meant that it covered the neighbouring socket. I have a 15A extension cord, which I used several times to get around this issue, but I would have to dial down to...

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

A thought I had, unfortunately it’s hard to google for… Is there such thing as a third party tail which is just like the factory 15A tail, except the cord comes directly out of the socket instead of at an annoying 45 degree angle? Would there be demand for this? The 45 degree plug makes it...

    Superchargers in Australia

For those not following the existing thread, Bairnsdale is under construction - 3 stalls. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/7929335/ This now makes it 49 stalls across 7 sites in 4 states under construction - possibly a record for simultaneous builds?

Also a single stall Tritium isn't it?

    Evie EV charging networks

It's nice if you happen to be stopping anyway and you take the opportunity to top up, but planning to skip superchargers and arrive at a single stall Tritium site with a low SOC... playing with fire!

Tesla opening up the Supercharger network in Australia to other brand EVs.

Something is a bit wacky... if anyone else deals with this it might be worth following up with the driver, if they are amenable... at a guess: - The Tesla SC is *not* listed as open to all EVs, and doesn't appear in that section of the Tesla app, but: - The Mini's nav system gets it's charging...

    Superchargers in Australia

Kiwis have been getting new pins throughout the year. The locations are usually precise and consistently, when the site is checked, construction is underway. It's almost as if Tesla in NZ actually uses their "find us" map to provide useful, accurate and timely info! Not sure why only NZ...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Ampol has submitted a DA for their first site in Tasmania, at Campbell Town. About 150 m away from the busy Evie location. Note they didn't get ARENA funding for Tas, so this is 100% privately funded.

    Supercharger - Port Campbell, Vic

Just leaving Warrnambool now, heading towards Colac. Could be tempted to detour to Port Campbell if there was a likely chance of finding something, but I also emailed the council before my trip and the response was similar to the news article above.

    ARENA/NRMA national fast charging network

Yep, it would appear so. Some are just in the middle of an empty dirt patch or in a park. So there is no actual location or timeframe info being provided by these pins. You can’t filter these out, and Plugshare renders them on top of other pins (including “active” RAA sites for example). All...

    ARENA/NRMA national fast charging network

Im here at Jamestown SA and just got a Plugshare notification of a new nearby site - the NRMA National site in Port Augusta.. In the middle of the bridge apparently. I see some of the other sites are also being added. I’m guessing all of these locations are inaccurate, or has a list of...

    SA Govt EV Network

On the way back from Ceduna I thought I’d check the Wudinna site, expecting it to look the same as before. I found an RAA employee going through the commissioning! He said it would be active this afternoon, but it’s not showing up yet. Also mentioned Streaky Bay and Kimba wouldn’t be far off...

Tritium asks Qld government for up to $90m bailout

Interesting that Tritium is considering/threatening leaving, yet Kempower are setting up an Australian presence (don’t think this necessarily means manufacturing, probably an admin/sales/logistics hub).

    SA Govt EV Network

FYI I neglected to update this thread at the time, but as I went past last week: Oct 20th - no evidence of construction in Port Augusta Oct 21st - Kimba and Wudinna units installed, not activated Oct 22nd - no evidence of construction in Streaky Bay Things might have changed since then.

    Superchargers in Australia

Basically urban Brisbane though? Tesla has all the stats they need on urban driving locations and charging, which is why I focus on regional areas with the voting.

    Superchargers in Australia

Hmm I hadn’t cross checked the addresses… good point! What would the next best option be? Swap in Nicholls? Leongatha? Victor Harbor? Or maybe just list 4 options, and later through the quarter, see which other Aussie site is furthest ahead?
  39. Chuq

    Superchargers in Australia

Yeah, I suspect this as well… but we can’t be sure. It’s also the only regional Qld option and I’m conscious that Queensland hasn’t had a winning site yet and the votes should be spread around between states. I’ve updated the document to include Mildura and Rockhampton - Supercharger voting...

    Superchargers in Australia

Great timing! I’ve just arrived at the Kalgoorlie Super Pit lookout and am heading to Broad Arrow (40 km north) straight after. (Talking about those who want to do the collaborative voting, that is!) Just had a quick look - Mildura and Rockhampton look like good options. Might swap out...

    Queensland EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme

Looks like the Qld Govt has now provided a list of addresses and statuses… but not which applicant is linked to each site :( https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/projects/electricvehicles/co-funded-electric-vehicle-charging-locations The only one that is not “in development” is the Calliope...

    Supercharger - Holbrook, NSW

@meloccom - may be worth splitting the Holbrook posts into a new “Supercharger - Holbrook, NSW” thread? Seems it’s likely to be progressed enough to need one.
  46. Chuq

    Supercharger - Holbrook, NSW

Ha, it appears that site just scrapes locations from the Tesla map. Just checked the Hobart one and it’s in the same “wrong” place (middle of a roundabout) as Teslas map shows.
  47. Chuq

    Supercharger - Port Campbell, Vic

This popped up in my news alerts but I can’t get past the paywall - not sure if there’s anything interesting to it - anyone else able to read it? https://www.standard.net.au/story/8394170/spark-back-for-electric-vehicle-charging-proposal/
  48. Chuq

    Supercharger - Wangaratta, Vic

I agree, but funny to put it in context that this “disappointing” site is larger* than any of the hundreds of sites Evie has built! *(maybe equal to Sutton Forest)
  49. Chuq

    Supercharger - Wangaratta, Vic

It has just shown up on the map and app! https://www.tesla.com/findus/location/supercharger/28663 Only 4 stalls, pretty undercooked for the Hume Highway but better than 0 stalls and they still have the planned 10-20 stall site at Benalla.

    Superchargers in Australia

Doesn't stack up for me either. 70c/kWh at 160 Wh/km = $11.20/100 km. For a petrol car (@ 8L/100 km) to cost the same amount, it would need to be $1.40/L petrol. And considering that most of my charging is at home (@ 17c/kWh), lets be conservative and say only 80% at home (and 20% at...
