    i3 in Canada?

My problem with the Volts is that they are 100% ICE under 4C. Which is basically 5/12 of the year.

    i3 in Canada?

Certainly don't want to buy an i3 new. The tires are specific to the i3, no other car uses them. 'nuff said. I haven't driven one in the winter, but our Smart ED works fine in the winter, with cold battery fade as the obvious caveat. RWD also. Somebody I met once managed to get to...

A good way of measuring accurately KWH usage?

I think that if your displays are showing 120V (ish) then you aren't connecting the voltage sensing leads between the two hot conductors on the 240V circuits.
  4. D

A good way of measuring accurately KWH usage?

If you have the voltage feed for the meter connected between neutral and either the red or black you'll get 120V. The neutral sits between the two phases of the 240V, hence the lower voltage. 240V is present across the red and black. Note the Amazon recommendation from the commenter on...

A good way of measuring accurately KWH usage?

The computers are not material unless you're running racks of bitcoin miners. A/C is effectively zero at this time of year. Same with the pool. if you're keeping it warm all the time I'd put money on the hot tub being a major sink. If you haven't done it already, I'd replace all the lights...

Disappointing Range on a New Model 3

YusufT is on point. Cabin set temperature would also affect the battery usage. We keep ours at 18C and use the seat heaters in the winter. Super comfortable as far as we're concerned. Running high temp will be like running a hair dryer, gluttonous for power. If you're in a private garage...

A good way of measuring accurately KWH usage?

That's definitely out of line. Our place is similar. We do about 550 km per week mixed between our EVs and our monthly consumption is ~800 kWh. July and August are a bit higher for A/C. Heating is nat gas. Add in about ~250 kWh for partial charging at my wife's office and we'd still be...

Why does my phone access not work periodically?

Bluetooth has to be turned on in your phone. It used to be that the app also had to be active as well, but not so much anymore, at least for me. I sometimes find there is a lag. So it won't work immediately when I walk up to the car, but a moment later it does. I assume that this is...

Who has received mud flaps from Tesla?

The box is quite large, like a small microwave oven. It would be charged volumetrically for shipping so there would be quite the cost for Tesla. You'd probably be better buying off of Amazon and taking advantage of their generous shipping terms. TANSTAAFL

for those of you receive winter protection kit for model 3, did you install splash guard?

The installation kit allows for two lengths to be installed, and the longer piece can be trimmed if you want. It's a good kit, and very flexible.

for those of you receive winter protection kit for model 3, did you install splash guard?

$87 by the mobile tech. It's $26 cheaper at the service centre + travel time. As far as I'm concerned, the tech was outstanding and deserved every penny for dealing with our cramped conditions and -2C with snow conditions. He was also happy to sell me a set of cabin filters that I'll...

for those of you receive winter protection kit for model 3, did you install splash guard?

One of the mobile tech's came by the house today and did the installation for us. He recommended not installing the longer part, and I'd agree, it would be too long. You can always add or trim and add the additional splash guards if you find it necessary. Or trim and add them. Also...

Phone field broken when scheduling appointment

Thought I'd ask if this is common or not. Maybe I'm just special. I've scheduled a couple of appointments via the app. Each time it will not accept the correct phone number and I end up truncating it. Something like 19995551234 won't work, but 1999555123 will. Similarly, 9995551234...

Do you get loaner car when dropping off car for service at Toronto Lawrence service location?

Lawrence has done ubers for me. They've never had EV loaners available in my experience. They will provide rental ICE loaners. Fwiw, I've always asked for an EV loaner, grimaced, and either waited or used an Uber in the hope we can use our other EV to make the return trip.

The RPM one appears to be better integrated, aerodynamically, which would seem to be the point.

recommendation needed for outdoor wall charger post setup for commercial building in GTA?

Looks like a cedar 4x4 and 2x4 screwed together. There's probably a hole cut through the 4x4 for the electrical feed from the junction box mounted on the back. I'd guess that there is a cement footing poured below with an inset post hole mount. Someone who's put up a fence and an...

    Tires from Canadian Tire?

The TPMS sensors are mounted on the rims, so if you change the rubber they will still be there. You'll need new ones if you buy new rims. Kal Tire in Scarborough was careful with our 3 and said that they get a lot of Teslas, so they are familiar with the procedure. I'd recommend buying and...

Registered second driver, can’t find on Tesla app?

One email address, although it is unique to Tesla. So I could easily setup a forwarding rule to make sure she gets them, I just haven't. And yes, she has full access from her phone. We have both Android and iOS too, if that was a concern

Registered second driver, can’t find on Tesla app?

For what it's worth, my wife and I are both contacts on the same account, are co-registrants etc. There is still only one login, probably because there is a single credit card attached for the supercharger payments.

    Supercharger - Medicine Hat, AB

Random comment: I find it a "happy making thing" that there are now regular discussions about "that's not a Tesla charger, that's an XXX charger site". Only five years ago it was crickets.

Has Tesla changed their minds on SCs in urban areas?

Don't forget that Tesla is a data driven company. They know how many Canadian Teslas regularly charge at home, office, SC etc and the TCan has been 'coming soon' for as long as they've been rolling out the super charger network. As long as most owners are in good shape for regular...

Has anyone joined a utility program using fleetcarma's OBD2 device?

I think the program length varies based on what kind of deal the individual utility made with FleetCarma. There are a bunch of folks in BC who have used their service, so maybe one of them can shed some light for you. I have a unit on our Smart that's been running for several years, but it...

    299km at 80%

Advertized 100% charge range is 386km. @80% that's 309km. Depending on how you drive that 10km difference is not that significant. It's about 2.5% of the overall expected range. If you are driving on the 40x highways at over 115 km/h that would totally account for it. As someone who...

    Found paint issues after delivery

Those bubbles look nasty, but the other one can be touched up with the chip kit. So far I've found Tesla service and warranty support outstanding. They're not there to give away money, but they do their best to make good. If you are within the 7 days, you could try going in and asking...

    Energy Savings Rebate (Ontario)

While Canada isn't Kuwait, our GHG emissions per capita are pretty bad. Spending some money to reduce it is money well spent, regardless of the political party.

    Western Canada Superchargers

    MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper issues

We had a lot of rain here over the weekend and I did about 700km over the two days in quite variable conditions. I'm finding 28.2 to require fairly regular manual intervention. It definitely underwipes when there are slow but steady bigger drops of rain, and when there is steady levels...

Anyone with solar and a EV in the Vancouver region?

You should probably consider the solar system separate from the car, and calculate the car vs grid rates based on overnight charging. We don't have a solar setup and the overnight rates in Ontario are pretty low, which is when we charge the car. I have talked to a couple of solar installers...

    Anti-ICEing law proposed in Ontario

Plus given the schedule for the OLA, it most likely won't be looked at until next year. If I were a cynic, I'd say it was just opportunistic PR to help influence edge votes for the upcoming election.
