    Bluetooth GPS beacons

I travel from the Gold Coast to Aspley and back using the tunnels mentioned for family visits and the car tracks very well. No major issues.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I was driving to Brisbane yesterday on the M1 and had a very hard phantom braking event that I couldn't even guess what it was for. It was cloudy at that moment, so there were no shadows, nothing overhead either. It was so bad that it woke my wife up. Luckily there was no one behind me. A very...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

When I was downloading 2020.28.6 I noticed some strange behaviour with the progress bar. I thought it had finished and then noticed it has started over again. Then it went back and forth between where I guess it was actually at and 100%. You can see this in the video below. I don't normally pay...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I updated to 2020.20.17 before I started on a road trip to Tin Can Bay and Bundaberg from the Gold Coast. I still had a couple of phantom breaking events on the M1, with one that scared the hell out of me as another driver was following quite close behind. Roadworks with diversions or new...

    Sentry mode

I've been running Ext4 for the videos and FAT for music. The only problem I've had is that when I start the car there is sometimes (1 in 10 trips) an error that the drive is corrupt. I just take the USB cable out and put it back in again and all is good. Today I tried to download 2020.12.5, but...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I downloaded 20.8.3 today while I was driving to my doctor's clinic (not the virus :) ). I installed the update while inside and then drove home on it. I decided to turn on Autopilot and as soon as it got to a sweeping corner with oncoming traffic it braked. Turned it off and sighed. No issues...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Hopefully they have fixed the Bluetooth with 2020.12. I had a conference call today using an app on my phone and it would constantly connect and disconnect to the car. That caused the audio to come from the car, then go to the phone, then back to the car, repeat every 10 seconds or so. It was...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I received the update yesterday and drove to Brisbane and back from the Gold Coast today. One of the best improvements I noticed was that when you engage Autopilot that it gently moves to its preferred position in the lane. Previously it would jerk to where it wanted to be quite quickly. I had...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

That makes my little incident in suburbs of the Gold Coast look rather painless. I feel for you. How did it happen and what type of damage did you get to the tyre? Rim ok? I now have a pot hole paranoia problem and avoid even the smallest blemishes in the road surface if I can. I still love...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I picked up the car this afternoon with two new tyres replacing the damaged ones. Here is a photo of the damage on one of the tyres. I presume it's the left rear because that deflated the fastest and we couldn't see the damage on the other tyre. The great majority of people get in their...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

The last time I pumped them up to 43 PSI after a bit of driving, but they were only at 41 when this happened.

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

It did, straight after I swiped to check the tyre pressure. It all happened very quickly and within 10 seconds of hitting the pothole I was looking to pull over. After the low pressure warning the car was telling me to pull over too.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

My kids turned on Fart Mode while we were charging and I was outside. I tried "Turn off Fart Mode." It came up as poop mode or something like that and changed the air con to take in fresh air rather than recirculate!

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

It did give a pretty loud thump for each tyre, but I didn't think it was that bad. I just checked the tyre pressure out of caution given that I was weary with low profile tyres after seeing Engineering Explained get his rims damaged on a freeway pothole. It was hard to see at night, with the...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I called Tesla this morning to find out what was happening. Rather than going all the way to Brisbane they said they could get it sent to Bob Jane T-Marts at Southport who have the same tyres and that other Tesla owners have used them before. I thought that was fair enough, as long as they do...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

    Yes, that's correct.

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

The rain has been intense on the Gold Coast over the last few days and the roads have suffered with potholes opening up all over the place. I was on my way home from my parents in Helensvale on the Gold Coast and hit a pothole with both left tyres at less than 60 km/h. It was bad enough that I...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

If it's the spot I'm thinking about then I believe it shows that you are on the slip road to the left on the map and reduces the speed limit for that road. It freaked me out when it happened the first time I was driving down to the airport. I've had that same scenario, where it thinks it's on...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Interesting note about needing WiFi to activate the update process... I don't have WiFi that my car can easily access because it's parked in an underground car park in an apartment complex. I don't have the internet on yet either (NBN coming tomorrow). Anyway, I have received notifications of...

How good are Tesla’s in Australia’s extreme heat?

I haven't figured it out either. If it's 30+, according to the car, and the sun is directly above the car then I really feel the heat from the roof. The best solution I've found, as someone else suggested, is blast it down and at me with the fan on 8+. Unfortunately that's really loud.

Wailing wall for Australian Model 3 team VINLess!

My dad is picking up my car in Brisbane tomorrow and I asked on Monday if I could get the plate numbers to pre-register with the apartment complex where I'm moving to on Saturday. I was told that they couldn't provide the registration details until the day of delivery.

All those cold weather tests in the snow are very important to watch when you are in Queensland ;).

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

Do you have finance on it? Also, yours is SR+ and not P+, right? I'd imagine the Performance comes with a penalty, not only for being more expensive. I couldn't even do an online quote for it on multiple sites!

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

Your invoice includes luxury car tax, stamp duty, registration, etc. That's not included in the "cost of the car." E.g. My Model 3 Performance is invoiced at $95,775 plus $10,855 = $106,630. Suncorp gave me a quote with the car valued at $92,900. Still an unexplained gap. Then you see there is a...

Wailing wall for Australian Model 3 team VINLess!

I have been lurking for a while, so here's my first post. My VIN (5YJ3F7EC9LF4993XX) is visible today after getting my finance sorted with Pepper. I'm a difficult customer because I'm living in Singapore, but returning to the Gold Coast in December after 19 years overseas. I must say Pepper did...
