Can the Model 3 SATNAV count?

I think the best reply to the OP's question is "Sometimes"!! Waze is better.....

Why I believe the Tesla M3 AWD is the only really viable EV

From 22 May to 2 December over 4400 miles consumption has averaged 263wh/mile. No doubt the next 6 months will be higher. Most of my driving is on rural A roads, the longest drive so far is 120 miles. I charge from home, with occasional Supercharger use.

Why I believe the Tesla M3 AWD is the only really viable EV

Charging my M3 this morning in the sun (PVs on the roof contributing) the App said that at 90% I'd have 307 miles range. I looked at the Mercedes App for SWMBO's AMG C43 and it said that at 91% full it had enough petrol for 307 miles! A coincidence... but one that made me think. The biggest...

Does anyone find their Model 3 seat very uncomfortable?

5' 9" and 86kg.. the seats are comfortable but I'm "slim hipped". They lack side bolster support and the distance from seat back to front is a bit mean. But overall a 2.5 hour drive caused me no grief. SWMBO prefers the seats in the C43 Coupe she drives. The headrests are weird, to narrow and...

UMC plug and socket getting warm

Standard 13A house plugs are not intended to carry a continuous 2kw to 3kw for 12 hours. For this sort of load I'd use a 16A commando socket and plug, much heavier duty. They are not expensive, even if fitted by an electrician and Tesla supply a 16A Commando plug connector for the UMC...

Home Charge Points Discussion and Suggestions [megathread]

I chose a Sync EV charger. It works but with the benefit of hindsight I'd have got a box with a tethered cable. I thought of changing, but a second cable to leave plugged in is a cheaper option!

    Found in trunk

Agreed. I note that the lower end of the strib looks to be damaged. That observation leads me to suggest that it was damaged by the fitter and dumped in the boot (not trunk!!)

Contact Tesla, they had to re-send the download. It is a known issue: Tesla Winchester had 8 such reports today. Problem now solved.

How Much data does the car share with Tesla?

A conversation with a Tesla service person about my car made me realise just how much data the car shares with Tesla's "Mothership". We were discussing the problems arising from the faulty car computer and I mentioned that the side cameras were regularly reporting that they had been blinded or...

    Apps and battery usage

The only App I have is the Tesla one. It tells me enough and I certainly don't need my watch telling me the remaining range... I certainly will not pay for Apps that provide me with lots of interesting, fascinating, but ultimately useless information. I could probably live with a more basic...

    Car Computer Chip Type

My April 21 build M3 Long Range needs a new "Car Computer", Tesla don't expect this before mid January 21. The car works, but Autopilot isn't safe to use as it is prone to cutting out or trying to do things I wouldn't do. So I don't use it: if I commuted in the car I'd be cross, but to be honest...

    Ride / sound comfort

It is a sports saloon, not a comfortable limousine. Far, far quieter than the Mercedes C63 estate it replaced, far less crashy. Road noise is very sensitive to the road surface. On some recently laid low noise tarmac it is all but silent, on some worn 30 year old tarmac it is noisy.. Overall...

    [UK] 2021.40.x

40.6 arrived overnight, as others have reported it seems to have completed (I now have stops and British English) but the little green arrow is there, and although the 'downloading' green bar is full, it says 0 B/s, even when on WiFi... I did a hard reset, but the green arrow is still there. I...

    "Charging equipment not ready"

I have a SyncEV home charger. About 20% of the time when I plug the cable into the charger and then to the car I get the same message. The answer is to reboot the charger, using the app. After a re-boot, which takes 20 seconds , the charge proceeds as normal. This has reminded me to contact...

Charging cost, am I thinking about this correctly?

My old car, a 4L V8 twin Turbo cost me in fuel 34p/mile. Add servicing and road tax and it would be 46p/mile. The M3 LR is running at 280wh/mile, so 3.6 miles/kw. I'm 85% home charging and at present the cost is 16p/kw so the car costs 4.44p/mile. Add in some Supercharger use and over a 7000...

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

It seems that certain artists demand that the users cannot use shuffle and this destroys the integrity of the album. Adele is one, I'm told. Sorry, I've paid to listen in whatever order I choose.

BBC 1 - Panorama: The Electric Car Revolution – Winners and Losers. Wednesday at 19:30

I prejudged the content and instead watched a repeat of Professional Master Chief. It seems that I made the right call, I learnt something from Master Cheif. Writing on Windscreen

    M3 Gone Wrong

I think it may be time to apply some pressure. They have offered to send a ranger out to do a 12V reset... but suggested it would only be a temporary solution and the board needed to be replaced. So I'm not sure there is any point. They don't have all the parts they need, some US build M3s are...

Lots of m3s awaiting collection at the Trafford Centre

Talking to a Tesla person today I was told that there are 13,000 M3s booked to be delivered in the UK before the year end. That is 41 days so 288 per day.... across all the delivery locations. Seems reasonable if Trafford Park are doing close to 100 a day.

    M3 Gone Wrong

I thought it was time for an update... As of 22 November I'm still waiting for the part to arrive, it is still on order with no scheduled delivery date at Winchester. I talked to the service agent at Tesla Winchester who told me that supply of certain electronic spares is poor, fall out from...

Server Error 500 and what options to avoid potential issues

What I'd expect from the BBC. I will not be watching as experience tells me that the program will be light on facts, heavy on opinion and with a bit of "shock-horror" thrown in. In my view the more a company talks about its ethics the more it has to hide. The managers of a company have a...

This one.... mine since 2014 and whilst I can still breath!! I don't believe we will be banned from the roads, just Motorways and city centres. I charged using the Tesla UMC for about 3 months whilst the EV point was sorted out. I replaced the 25 year old socket in the garage with a new one, just in case..... The plug was just about warm, as was the "box" in the UMC cable. Had I not fitted an EV socket I was planning to fit a a...

Shell and BP have to do this, but from experience it is doubtful they will in Salisbury any time soon.
