Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

Yes, it did. Your article helped with running the power wire through the firewall and explained how the speakers work in a UHFS system. I did read on another thread on this forum that someone made an audio harness that went into a JL Audio FIX88/86. Based on his picture, it looks like he was...

Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

I bought Tesa tapes and bought replacement clips (not from Telsa but Toyota ones since one of the threads said that they're similar). That's a good tip to wrap the Tesa taps on the metal clips !!! I was only using Tesa tapes to wrap my speaker wires together in a nice bundle in addition to...

Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

I didn't even use the color code of the wire since they do not 100% correspond to the official Tesla wiring diagram. Nick told me that I would need to leave my car with him for a week or more. It wasn't something that could be done over a weekend. So, that's why I decided to DIY it myself. I...

Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

Per your instructions on this page: Part 3: Amplifier Installation – TeslaTap , could you please explain this portion or if this what you were referring to? If I were to read what you wrote for the Ultrasound instructions, it seems that I would need to use all three wires from a line level...

Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

I think I've read your installs before with Audiofrogs and I was referring to your post about your 2.5 Audiofrogs for the midrage was easy drop in. I was just trying not to buy more speakers and reuse existing ones but that didn't got well. I assume your installer used speaker level outputs...

Another audio upgrade thread for UHFS (2016)

I have a UHFS on my 2016 (pre-refreshed) Model S and wasn't happy with the sound and wanted to used my old Focal K2 3 way setup FRONT that I had on my previous ICE car (2013 Nissan GTR). This is my daily driver/family car so I didn't want to fully disconnect rear speakers since my kid sits in...

Does anyone know what this screw size/part is that connects a wire from the top dash next to the top of the MCU?

Update, that was the correct screw from the diagram and it's around 35 cents CAD a piece !!! I didn't have to resort to Home Depot screws but I had to go there anyways to return a few things. Thank you everyone for your input !!!

Does anyone know what this screw size/part is that connects a wire from the top dash next to the top of the MCU?

No idea but the wire is from the upper dash and not sure what electrical components would be embedded in the dash. Yes, no errors after I lost that screw. (I had a previous TMPS error that is still an ongoing issue with Tesla). Thank you so much !!! I was going to drop by the Tesla service...

Does anyone know what this screw size/part is that connects a wire from the top dash next to the top of the MCU?

I have a 2016 Model S (pre-refreshed) and I took off my instrument panel/dash apart last week to replace my speakers/run new wires, etc. I advertenly, I unscrewed this (see pix below) and lost the screw since I thought the wire connector (from the dash) to the MCU required unscrewing but then I...

    TPMS error message: system fault

Well, I bought used (one year old) OEM Tesla sensors (part # 1074812-00- B) and them installed 2 days ago and my car still doesn't see it.

    TPMS error message: system fault

3 weeks ago, I took my car (2016 MS P90D) to Tesla dealership (paid $200 CAD) for them to diagnose the TMPS module (in the car and sensors) base on the error message. The error message was "Tire Pressure Monitoring System fault" The error message has been on for the last 2 months when I bought...

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

Please send me a link to buy this control arm for future preventative maintenance. Is it OEM or aftermarket? As long as it's "good" quality (survive at least 3 more years of Ontario winter). Thank you.

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

Tesla finished fixing my car and I will pick it up later this afternoon and they lowered their original estimate on what parts needed replacing. Here's the final bill that I just paid (in CAD $$ since closest Tesla dealership is in Kitchener, ON). It appears that they didn't replace (or needed...

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

You mean, the OEM 12 Volt battery or the 4 AWG power wire that I connected to the 12V battery (ran through the firewall grommet, directly to the center/underneath the windshield wiper tray) is in the way of the control arm? I should hope that I'm not such a bonehead to do but I was on valium...

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

I wish i approve just the driveshaft fix and address the control arm later from the app but it's all one estimate. I've contacted one non-Tesla mechanic/shop in the GTA but they never bother responding to me and if you know of any Tesla shops in the GTA then please let me know. Thanks.

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

Here is Tesla's estimate: and they want to replace the upper front RIGHT control arm (1st generation): I haven't approved this yet but I feel like the drive shaft is something I need them to fix but was hoping it was under some warranty but I guess it's not considered part of the "motor"...

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

My diagnosis for this is tomorrow (Tuesday 8/23) and we'll see what they say. I removed the upper control arms pictures and made a "fresh" request and they weren't able to provide an new estimate. Thank you.

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

I send the photos (that I posted in this forum) to Tesla and they send me an estimate. They don't even address that "loose" rusted parts on the driveshaft at all. They haven't even look at this car or taken it out for a test drive and pointed to the front upper control arm as the "culprit". It...

    Steering/rubbing/clunking noise at low speed P90D w/ 99k miles

Yes, the noise occurs over flat/smooth surfaces as well when I decel/accel (slowly). Unfortunately, my mechanical skills with the car is limited to changing brake pads and rotors. I was actually taking the frunk apart to install power cable to the 12v battery to run my aftermarket amplifier and...

I keep hearing a clunking/rubbing noise from the passenger side at low speed (either accelerating or slowing down). Anyways, back to the noise, I'm the 2nd owner of a 2016 MS P90D (purchased in Canada with 99k miles) and had for 2 months now. Car ONLY has the battery and the drive train...

Model S Speaker to aftermarket speaker (guide)

2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus trunk alignment issue

This is not covered by Tesla's warranty. Yesterday, we had to pay for the labor on my wife's 2021 M3 LR. The service advisor stated that it was "wear and tear" item. The trunk became misaligned and started to rub the exterior paint (chip our paint, see blue line on the diagram). They charged...

3rd party Tesla mechanic in GTA (Toronto)

Thank you @ Soul Surfer and hope you enjoyed your trip through New York (I recalled your post from a few weeks ago?). Let's hope that the shop rate isn't ~$200 CAD/hour like Tesla. Last week, they straight up told me the rate and still couldn't fix my issue.

Tesla charge my wife/I for a chip in our body panel because her trunk became misaligned and started to rub the exterior body panel (driver side). Her car is a 2021 Model 3 LR. They stated that the cosmetic "chip" isn't covered under warranty but the trunk misalignment was covered. WTH? The...

HELP: mechanic in Toronto area to help inspect Used 2017 x100d?

So, you would recommend Shift motors as an alternative to going to Tesla dealership for working on "minor" (non software related issues) stuff, such as, but is not limited to, 1) replacing struts/suspension, 2)replace brake rotors and pads and 3) wheel alignment? Thank you.

Is Tesla Outdoor Car Cover Worth It?

Is Tesla Outdoor Car Cover Worth It?

I wouldn't mind until we get rid of this Linden tree (which might cost thousands to remove). The aphids are eating the sap, produces dropping which falls on my car. The cheapest solution is the car cover. Paying for someone to spray the aphids every year will cost $400-500. This is only a...

Ouch !!! I'm sorry to hear that. I'm hoping to use Scales suspension but the lead time is 4-5 weeks to build. I'm waiting for a positive confirmation that struts are shot (~99k miles when I bought the car as 2nd owner) before I pull the trigger to replace. I've can't find the bilstein part...

Aftermarket audio upgrade - persistent distortion problem

So, for a premium sound system for model S, you're suggesting at a minimum use a JL Audio FIX 86 to flatten out and feed into your aftermarket amp. But even better if you can feed that signal from the JL Audio FIX 86 into DSP for time alignment, position, etc., THEN into an aftermarket amp...

Toronto to Claryville, NY next month.

I don't know why your route takes off you off the main highway...oh you're not using Tesla's route planner. I assume there's a reason you're taking that route instead of the "standard" route (which is straight highway with plenty of SC locations) is for the scenery? The finger lake area is...

    External Amplifier adapter for Tesla

Any update to your inquiry since I'm trying to source harness from used instrument panel bundle (e.g., 1004422-02-H or 1004422-03-M) on Ebay but I don't know if it contains all the wires I need for a premium system?

    External Amplifier adapter for Tesla

I wasn't sure if there is any update on your install (UHFS), I'm trying to figure out where to tap (and or find a harness w/o cutting/splicing into existing wiring) for input signal (going into an aftermarket DSP) and out to the 3way front speakers location.

I know this is an old thread but do you or know any vendors that sells/make an audio harness to wire to an aftermarket amplifier or DSP AND wire to the speakers? I'm trying to avoid "tapping" for an input signal and cutting the speaker wire from the plug from the OEM amp. Thank you.
