LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

I don't think the energy buffer is correct. The car he used was brand new so the battery wouldn't have been calibrated as it probably never had a full charge so the BMS would be way out. I read somewhere else that the buffer can display as such until it gets a full charge(s) and I know that...

    Superchargers in Australia

Sometimes I wonder if 'leaked' or 'accidentally revealed' information isn't just strategic marketing.

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

Posted this on Whirlpool but for those that don't play with the kids here you go. It's interesting and also illustrates why going beyond zero in a LFP Tesla might not be such a good idea.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

That really sucks if they are prioritizing the higher profit margin model Y over model 3. Feeling for all those waiting since very early this year!

    Tesla finance question

Yeah more than likely for the short term but it could go the other way quite quickly too, liquidity in the system is key and no access to 'cheap' funding might grind everything to a halt. We are addicted to credit and the financial system we have allowed to be built. Interesting times ahead...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Standard AP. I pretty much only use it on a freeway. If you engage AP when not close to being in the centre of a lane then it can be rough and want to quickly put you into the centre of the lane.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

A further 80kms today on the freeway and AP was 99% perfect. Heavy traffic from Gosford to Castle Hill so very stop start. I read somewhere that having the follow distance at 4 or more helped in the smoothness for stop/start traffic. So I set it at 5 and it was actually the smoothest it has ever...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Did another 100 or so km run this morning on freeway going north M1. AP worked extremely well, no phantom brakes or weird stuff even when next to trucks. Also saw the chevron pattern when I was passing slower right lane cars. Even the Auto wipers seemed to be much better with alot less craziness...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Since updating to 2022.28.2 noticed today that I lost 5% whilst car at home, no sentry mode enabled and this was less than 24 hrs. Have only been losing 1-2% previously in a day.

    Black or white interior?

I was going to order a white interior but when I went to the showroom and had a look in person the white was just way too bright for me. I also arranged for an overnight test drive, and this was a red M3 with white interior which cemented my thoughts. Unfortunately, it felt like I was in an...

Popularity of Utes in Australia and the prospect of electric versions

No doubt that many people need a ute type vehicle but it should be noted that the sales of these types of vehicles is highly skewed due to government policy that was introduced way back in 1986. I believe there would be a lot less of these gas guzzlers chocking suburban streets if it wasn't for...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Updated to 2022.28.2 today.......It took a while to download and install. I had a chance to test the new teslavision as I had to do a quick run up to Gosford today and happy to report there were no issues with AP on the freeway, pretty much worked the same as it did when radar was active. There...

    NRMA fast charging network

Yes highly agree that free charging should be scrapped and quickly as possible to allow those that need to charge have better access and as stated above to give incentive to other operators to expand the infrastructure.
  15. B

    NRMA fast charging network

People are free to use any charger that they like regardless of what brand of car. I bought a Tesla by choice and paid well earned money for it and for that I get access to all charges that are available.

Windscreen stone chip repair - Tesla service center appointment or local repairer?

Just take it to Tesla, I would always choose the OEM over aftermarket if you aren't paying for it.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It's certainly an interesting inclusion in the manual. The parts of an update that are not communicated such as tweaks to BMS etc as mentioned in another post is probably the point. I sure don't want to be in a legal fight with Tesla down the track seeing they have all the data and loads more...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

So I was recently made aware of the below in the Tesla M3 owners manual page 155. It has made me rethink my stance in regards to the installation of the latest software update 2022.24.8 that keeps splashing on my screen. "NOTE: The software update screen persists until you install the update...

    Warranty repair experience?

I've had a couple of interactions and they have all been way above any experience that I received from normal dealerships. Using the app to book or message and having a tech call if it can be resolved without going into a service centre is great and very convenient.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Yep the S is a supremely comfortable sedan with its air suspension and makes the 3 feel like you're driving over a cobblestone road in the French countryside. I have never been in an X but if its anywhere near an S then it is leaps ahead of the Y.

    Comparing my 2022 Model Y RWD with my 2021 Model 3 SR+

I recall August delivered but not 100% certain to exact date. Although compared to my 3 RWD 2022 I can feel the difference, but at the end of the day if you are happy then that's all that matters.

    Comparing my 2022 Model Y RWD with my 2021 Model 3 SR+

You must have gotten a special one. My buddy has three Tesla's - S, 3 and a new Y for his Mrs and complains that the Y is thrashy and rough. I went to golf with him on the weekend through Dural to Riverside oaks and have to agree that the ride was fidgety and quite crashy. The 3 is better but...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

China is a completely different market but by all accounts, of leading indicators the demand is dropping just as production is ramping to a new level and competition from others is hotting up. Wouldn't be at all surprised if our wait times start to drop in the next couple of months if not even...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It's funny how they are testing this feature with the rollout only to certain cars yet the basic stuff (I won't mention as we all know what they are) seems to just get rolled out to all. Tesla take a bow.....

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

After having ownership of my M3 for almost 6 months now I mostly feel like it is a great product although I am not appreciating being a beta tester for the software engineering department. It would also be great if they could just fix some of the basic vehicle features if they are going to force...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yeah I am staying strong until forced to change or it is somehow tweaked to allow mainly the high beam choice as user set.... Would like the side repeater screen ability to move but for me too high a price to pay on the other downgrade.

    Ampol AmpCharge network

For reference I have a 2022 M3 RWD with LFP 60kW pack - Looking at my Tessie app recent records of SC with the most recent at Goulburn Chargefox 350, the car achieved 76kW charge speed at exactly 76% SOC, it then started to ramp down as it got closer to the 80%. This charge session was from...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

So looking at the plugshare check-ins for Northmead it looks like a pretty significant drop off in use. Not unexpected. If the speed was as advertised I would Chuck em a few bucks now and then but as I have a 50kW Evie site handy they get my DC dollars for now.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I doubt it, they would not have made note of it in the update and teslavision is a song and dance type of thing for Elon. Also USA being so litigious they would not risk it. Your night time drives with AP are about to become painful.....
  34. B

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

My understanding is the Tesla vision update will mean auto high beam engages with AP each time. Of course only a problem if driving at night and use AP. If auto high beam actually worked then not a problem but it is terrible for me and many others too. Auto wipers also part of the upgrade which...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have the notification for 2022.24.6 on my M3 RWD 60kW with radar but won't be installing. Don't want to be forced to use auto highbeam when on AP (yes I know it can be turned off but having to do it after each lane change on AP is too painful). Will patiently wait for this to be an option.....

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

Sorry this doesn't make sense to me. Calendar degradation is just that, over time it occurs and there is really nothing that can be done about it. Once a battery is produced and put into service it starts the degradation process. How the battery is treated adds to the degradation. You can...

The future of CHADEMO in Australia

Lets have some perspective - The fund as it stands is almost $250 million and includes other fuels. The NBN cost is well over $50 billion.

The future of CHADEMO in Australia

I can understand the situation for Chademo but unfortunately one day the decision will need to be made to stop supporting DC chargers with Chademo. When is that time is the question and to be honest I think in the metro area it probably has or is very, very close to it. My bud has a Leaf he...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

So looks like Ampol are only installing 200 amp ABB chargers - Alexandria 200 amp, Northmead 200 amp and Belmont WA 200 amp. Surely they would have known what they were getting as I assume ABB would have given them the rundown on options and the limitation of 200 amp unit. Wonder if they would...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Yeah it will be interesting to see the stats on usage. Not many charges in the area so will probably get usage because of the location. Most users won't have a clue why the charging speed is hampered like me unless it's spelt out to them. Happy to get more chargers but would be good if it could...

Why are there so many M3 for sale in Australia. The number on Car Sale has doubled in a week

Hard to know exactly how many model 3's have been sold in Australia because of the Tesla reporting, but I saw a guess that it was about 15000 or so thus far (this maybe wrong by thousands). So those switching out to a Y is not a large amount if the car sales listings represent some sort of...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Yeah that explains it, tricky little buggers. The 200amps is shared? Surely will be slower than a 50kW charger if both plugged in at the same time.

    Ampol AmpCharge network

I used the Amp charge Northmead yesterday and arrived with 20% SOC came from the city and pre- conditioned for the approx 35 minute drive and I got 74kW max all the way to 72%. It wasn't a fully conditioned battery but I did expect a little higher rate so I do believe they are limiting the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I only use AP on freeways or dual lane divided roads, can't see why it's needed on normal urban roads when it just causes stress. Have had radar cruise with stop go and steer for 6 years or so in previous car and it was painful on urban roads too but not as bad as the Tesla AP. Hopefully it can...

    NRMA fast charging network

Yes I would like to see all free charging end but especially DC, no need for it. Those that actually need to charge quicker should pay, it would at least give a chance for some sort of access. IMO the network is stretched as it is without having to 'promote' charging anymore. Many argue that...
