White Interior Cleaning: Two Previously Unseen Questions

The owner's manual has a warning about stains on the seats: "Be careful with dyes, such as from clothing or denim, that come into contact with the seats. Dyes can diffuse into the seat material over time and cause staining." I've had light creme seats, nearly white, and was fanatical in keeping...

    Why CarPlay?

I just keep my cell phone on the charging pad with Waze running, set the audio to alerts only. That way I can enjoy the gorgeous big navigation screen on the Tesla and still get the utility from Waze with audible warnings for cops, accidents, and other hazards.

Test drive - LR Vs Performance

I asked about the stealth performance when I bought my Y LR dual motor. I didn't want the spoiler, the performance wheels and tires, or the lowered suspension. I had the performance package on my BMW and the potholes around here destroyed four tires and cracked a wheel. They said they didn't do...

Is Phantom Braking Still a Problem?

Sigh, happened twice on the way home from work yesterday. Both instances my lane was empty and I was overtaking a vehicle in the adjacent lane. HARD deceleration even though that vehicle showed no movement toward my lane. Then my Y hangs back behind that vehicle for about twenty seconds before...

    Window corner hazard

I've never had that problem, but I have, twice, leaned into the open trunk over the side of the car and bonked my head on the sharp point on the side of the lifted trunk lid. Longer learning curve than it should have been, my fault.

    Model Y Service Bulletins

I was specific, those items were recommended to me by the mobile service guy when he fixed a door squeak. He said it didn’t need realignment. I didn’t know about the pressure sensor until I dropped it off. I also asked that a small but annoying rattle in the far right of the dash be addressed...

    Premium Connectivity question

For anyone who can afford a Tesla $9.99 a month is chump change, especially for an unlimited data line. My Verizon unlimited plan on my cell isn't really unlimited, after a certain amount of data (and you blow through that quickly when using the phone as a hot spot) it throttles the speed way...

My first ding, how much does a trunk lid cost?

Thanks for the replies. I received a message from Tesla service that the body work needs to be done at a body shop, closest to me is The Dream Team in Virginia Beach, have an early September appointment for them to examine the damage and give me an estimate.

I don't miss carplay. And I find it amusing that people with Apple products are complaining about anyone else using a proprietary interface to control the content on/in the device.

It certainly is giving me more phantom braking than it did initially, so a backwards step there.

    Autopilot and Trust

The driving characteristics have improved a lot under autopilot. One example is exiting an interstate. When I picked up the car in June of last year it would go full speed into the exit, ignore the exit speed limit sign, and decelerate hard just before flying off the road when it hit the exit...

My first ding, how much does a trunk lid cost?

Well, I have my first ding on my Y after 13 months of driving, my own fault. I put my lunch in the trunk, didn't close the trunk telling myself I would close it from inside, then drove out of the garage with it open. The trunk lid hit the metal handle of the garage door and it put a gouge in the...

I don't have that version of the software yet and my Y phantom brakes at least once on my way to work and once on my way home every single day. This morning it did it twice, one with no other cars on the road (in one of the two locations on the interstate where it brake checks regardless of...

    So I tried summon.... disastrous

I plan on using summon, smart and otherwise, a lot once the FSD beta gets to me and my car then has a 3D view of the world around it rather than the 2D it has now. I have used smart summon once, in a not very crowded parking lot, and it went well for the first half, then the car turned into a...

    Damaged Aeroshield

If water has an open and clean path into the rear trunk area that would be a defect. OTOH, water slamming into the underside of a car at 30 mph will blow through tiny crevices with great force so maybe not. I've seen videos of Teslas driving in water up to the windows, but none showed how much...

Is Phantom Braking Still a Problem?

Twice again today. One interesting twist, in addition to the hesitancy in overtaking trucks it now brakes hard in one specific location on my way to work, again at a different location on the interstate going home. It’s definitely location specific, and both are straight, no overpasses, no...

Help me to decide: M3 LR or MY LR

This. My previous vehicle was a BMW 335i convertible. I'm 6'2", 68, have horrible back and neck problems, major back surgery last December. Difference between Model Y, Long Range & Performance

When I asked a Tesla tech person this question they said the P has a different rear motor and different fusing to allow more current to be pulled from the battery, he said that was what I would be paying for if I had chosen that over the dual motor long range. (I was interested in a stealth P...

Bolt in tire (2nd time in 36 days); recall related?

I had runflats on my previous car, and concur. They are heavy, give a stiff ride, and are expensive to replace. In two different incidents I had the sidewall blow out. Once on the interstate in a construction area with absolutely no place to pull over, at night, in the rain, and I was happy I...

    Windshield stone chips

No different than any other car with a glass windshield. Rock + glass = chip or crack. It's the luck of the draw, I have none on my Y windshield in 11 months, the BMW I traded in on it had eight different suction repairs and one replacement due to rocks.

Is Phantom Braking Still a Problem?

Did it twice this morning in the first 4 miles of my drive to work, then I turned it off. I have a 44 mile round trip commute, about 3/4 on interstate, three lanes each way, and the car averages more than one phantom braking episode on each leg of the drive. Almost all cases involve a clear lane...
