I thought the point of the OP was "Can normal people road trip in a Model S?" My answer to friends is that it saves time and convenience over all (home charging) but requires a mind shift back to my youth where a trip must be planned rather than just driving to a destination without thought.

Good question but there is a heat pump rather than AC plus resistive heating when very cold. I expect the cold air felt is from the heat pump action. Moving air feels colder than it is until somewhere over 100 F.
