It would know that traction has been lost on the powered wheels and that it needs to utilize the unpowered ones.

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I understand about questioning whether an ordinance is in place, but how can you question a sign that clearly states "Tesla Parking Only" as proper signage? It seems pretty clear to me. - - - Updated - - - Granted, but Victoria Gardens clearly is enforcing it. I don't see how this would...

    Firmware 6.0

You don't have manual control over the motors being on or off. Any situation where traction control needs to intervene, certainly the car would be using both motors to achieve maximum traction.

    Tesla Supercharger network

We don't have to save Earth. We have to save life on Earth. Earth will be here long after we're gone. It might seem like semantics, but I think it's an important distinction.
  5. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Kinda defeats the purpose of Superchargers if you can't travel during the holidays, no? :)
  6. G

    Tesla Supercharger network

I keep seeing people say this. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to say, because I used it over Thanksgiving during my road trip from California to Minnesota and back to look up the amenities at all the Superchargers before I got there and never had any issues seeing the...

    Model S - Window Tinting

Good to know. I'll have to contact my installer and see if there's anything they can do. It scratched through the tint in several spots, so it looks a bit silly with clear lines going up the window.
  8. G

    Model S - Window Tinting

Have you had anybody come back with lots of scratching in the tint? Mine has gotten pretty scratched up from sand getting caught in the felt on the inside of the seals that rub against the windows when you roll them down.
  9. G

    Decreasing rated range.

Are you saying you expected it to charge to a higher number than 136 when you put new tires on? Or did you just not see an improvement in Wh/mi?
  10. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Maybe the unit was just misbehaving and they put it in time out? :)
  11. G

    Firmware 6.0

If that's the argument, then I think they should remove it altogether. If you can't do it right, then don't do it at all. I just got back from a Thanksgiving road trip to Minnesota and back and tried loading the Find Us page on the browser to see each Supercharger's amenities before I got...
  12. G

    Firmware 6.0

So we, the customers, should pay for a tablet and data rather than Tesla fixing the browser built into the car? It's not like we're asking them to add a touchscreen interface with a browser.

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

All new installations have them. When I went through Primm, NV about a week ago, it was handy because as I was pulling up, 2 of the pedestals (a paired set) didn't have the word "TESLA" lit at the top. I assumed they weren't getting power and chose a different one. After I plugged into my...
  14. G

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

Lol, I hope you weren't the one who took the fence down!
  15. G

    Cadillac ELR (Converj)

Ok, I guess I should have worded it differently. You'd be ok with the ELR having a smaller battery than the Volt and still cost more money? You just said you want 17.1kWh even though the Volt is rumored to have 19.2kWh. If the Volt really has a 19.2kWh battery, though, I don't see why 60...
  16. G

    Cadillac ELR (Converj)

You'd be ok with paying more to have worse electric range than the Volt?
  17. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

    Apparently it's installed:

    Tesla Supercharger network

They've said before that getting superchargers installed is priority for now. I only know of two that have solar at this point (Hawthorne and Tejon Ranch).

    Tesla Supercharger network

I'm driving home to Minnesota for Thanksgiving just because I can.
  20. G

What's your 6.0+ car name (if you are willing to share?)

    Makes me think of Cadillac
  21. G

    Tesla Supercharger network

I bet if you look at Superchargers per owner on a state by state basis, California is still not leading.
  22. G

Supercharger - San Juan Capistrano, CA (7 V2 stalls)

It would be great if there were some way to eject the charge cable from inside the car so you can drive away from potentially dangerous situations. If you're inside your car and charging, you're particularly vulnerable.
  23. G

    Decreasing rated range.

I wouldn't say projected isn't reliable. If the rest of your trip is similar to what you've driven so far, the average setting should be a good indication of how much farther you can go. A good example of how I use instant is the last several miles to my house. It's uphill for the last 20...
  24. G

Supercharger - San Juan Capistrano, CA (7 V2 stalls)

Were they asking for money or something?
  25. G

What's your 6.0+ car name (if you are willing to share?)

I haven't decided yet. I considered Macak, but it's not exactly nice sounding.
  26. G

    Cadillac ELR (Converj)

Really? I always got the impression that the consensus on this forum was that this is the area Tesla was severely lagging behind other premium brands. Driving on the freeway isn't particularly exciting and it's an area where I'd love to have more autonomy. Does anybody actually find freeway...

    Firmware 6.0

I'm really not sure they should. They make a lot of little changes like this and it really isn't something that's going to affect me in a major way. It's a self-explanatory protect function that tells you everything you need to know if you happen to try meet the criteria required for it to...
  28. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I was thinking the same. Macy's parking lot would have probably been a better choice as it's never full (except maybe during the holidays when everything everywhere is packed). To be fair, the location they chose is probably fine most of the time, but that parking lot is pretty packed on...
  29. G

    Firmware 6.0

Yes, basically all of us have. It was likely just some bug fixes. Riiiiight
  30. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

1.5 month? Jeez, they can't get anything done quickly here in SoCal.
  31. G

    Firmware 6.0

Absolutely untrue. The low setting only limits the amount of regen you can potentially do, which can only be a negative aspect in terms of efficiency unless you have absolutely no ability to modulate the throttle pedal. Having more available regen can only be a positive. Coasting is (almost)...

    Tesla Companion App

The mobile apps don't have anything to do with actually controlling the movement of the vehicle, however.
  33. G

    Tesla Companion App

I've tweeted Elon asking for some support for us Windows Phone-using Tesla. It'd be nice if others did the same and hopefully he'll dignifiy at least one of us with a response. It seems WP use amongst Tesla owners is growing and we deserve some kind of official support, hopefully via support...
  34. G

    Firmware 6.0

Seems odd. I tested mine and it, too, is working as it always did, that is to say in a linear fashion. Probably not worth making a trip to the service center for, but I think it'd be something I'd bring up next time my car is in if I were you just because it's a bit of weird behavior and they...
  35. G

    Cadillac ELR (Converj)

Unless you prefer free roadtrips and paying for cheaper electricity at home for all your commuting instead of more expensive gasoline at a gas station, however infrequently used. I'd be willing to bet you spend more time watching gas go into your tank than I spend watching electricity go into...

About time to unveil the D and something else

FWIW, before I got my MS I used to think regen was as you described. I seem to remember reading somebody saying the regen on the Prius worked the way you describe (when the Prius was new), but that was probably just somebody confused by part of the regen being mixed into the brake pedal. No...

About time to unveil the D and something else

Sorry if I offended you somehow. I went back toward the beginning of the thread to where people with Model X reservations started saying they'd gotten invites, but couldn't find them anywhere. I also went back several pages from the most recent (at the time) and didn't see a time mentioned...

About time to unveil the D and something else

I tried sifting through this thread, but got impatient. What time is the event tonight?

    Decreasing rated range.

No offense, but this thread is actually about decreasing rated range. It's the title of the thread.

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I think you're being conservative with your estimate if anything. :)
  41. G

    Supercharger - Indio, CA (LIVE, 36 V3 + 8 V2 + 2 Urban stalls)

Are you really not going to trust that it's working until you see that? You do know Tesla said it's live, right?
  42. G

    Firmware 6.0

I feel like I'm observing the first meeting of the guy who thinks Tesla can do no wrong and the guy who thinks Tesla can do no right. This should be good.
  43. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Those dots have been there for awhile. The one you said is "west of that" is actually the RC dot. The one between that and Indio is the Cabazon dot.

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

When I drive to San Diego, I have to drive out of my way up the 5 to get to SJC so I can make the return trip home. Then I have to pay a toll lest I sit in more traffic to get to the 91, where I have to deal with more traffic yet again. It probably adds 30 minutes or more of driving (not...
  45. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I personally typically take the 15 from the Cajon Pass when going to SD. It seems to flow more smoothly in terms of traffic. Super excited that they decided on Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga! If I have one complaint (and it's a very minor one!) it's that they want to put it north of the...

    Supercharger - Ontario, CA

Yeah, I think the last 5 or so miles I'm eating 4-5 miles of range for every mile travelled at 60mph. It gets pretty steep! The first 15-20 miles aren't bad. Inversely, going to Ontario is pretty nice. I end up using about 2 miles of range by the time I get there. :)
  47. G

    Firmware 6.0

No offense to your friend, but I don't know how much more clear Tesla could make it. The window that pops up when the update is ready tells you everything you need to know and gives you the option to install now or at a preset time. Why would he think it says "install now" if you have to drive...

What is your next smartphone going to be?

Actually the Nokia Windows Phones have the best cameras. ;) The new optical image stabilization in the iPhone 6+ has existed in Nokias for a couple years now. The iPhone 6 in general is pretty close to the quality of Nokia's cameras now, but the Nokia seems to hold a slight edge still.
