    Need for screen protector?

I think you are underestimating the force required to crack a screen that you haven't dropped and overestimating the protection a thin glass sheet would provide in the case of such direct force. Phone screens crack because of the impact on a corner, not typically from a direct impact on the...

Pretty stoked about this powered frunk

Slightly off-topic, but what are you doing with the frunk so frequently that you need an automatic one? I have the car for 2 months now and the only time I've opened the frunk was to put a maxpider mat in it.

Tesla Insurance - Are they watching me?

NYS Registration Sticker Took 2 Months

It's not fair to call it vaporware when they've delivered every product they've previously created and we know that there are prototypes out in the wild.

    Jeda Hub for Model Y

I ordered it so long ago, I honestly can't remember why I thought I needed it. Other than a memory stick for the dashcam, what're the common uses for this?

I bought one and it was worth every penny. Dropped my screen yesterday and only the protector cracked. Saved me a couple of grand.

What if Tesla offered the option of having a DCFC port on their autos?

I think Elon is a Steve Jobs disciple -- fewer options = less complexity of production = lower costs = opportunity for higher margins.

Might the new battery tech be worthy of a new vehicle order delay

There will never be a time where something new and better isn't 2 years away. Think of it as more like a tech product than a car.

    Rated Mileage

The first week I drove and I didn't get close, but after another couple of weeks with the regenerative braking, I get better than the rated mileage. The caveat is that I am 80/20 local/highway, so I'm advantaged when it comes to the regen.

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

The argument is not about whether they are good or the best -- the argument that is being made by many on this forum is that they are so far ahead of the pack that the gap can't be closed. To be clear -- I love my car, its tech, its features and the way it drives. I also believe other...

    EAP IS BACKK

That's brilliantly priced. High enough that they will (on average) make a killing insuring that for people, but low enough to get people to buy it for peace of mind.

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

Here's the thing -- you're arguing a point that I wasn't making. You're arguing that EAP is great and most people love it (the first is your opinion, which is OK, the second is your wild guess, which coincidentally is just your opinion overlaid on everyone else. Yay your opinion! I'm arguing...

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

I know it wasn't perfect, but at the time, people paid hundreds of dollars more for the same tv equipped with 3D. Some of that was for the glasses, sure, but they still paid it. Then they tried it and didn't much like it. So the analogy is there, just not perfect.

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

This is going to be the future of car ownership -- unlocking things at the time of. purchase or a la carte upgrades when you need them. Going on a big trip? $50 for a 7-day range extension. $10 for a supercharger charging rate upgrade. It's inevitable, if not right around the corner.

My Experience With EAP Suggests Not Only Won't FSD Go Up In Price, It's Going To Go Down

People seem to forget the things that Elon gets wrong, but I think this one is a doozy. Not only do I not think we will see Level 4 autonomy any time soon, but I think the advanced features that currently command a premium in a Tesla will become less expensive over time, not more. My weekend...

    Jeda Hub for Model Y

I mean, if people have been waiting a while and you send an email like this, they do themselves no favors by not accurately estimating the delivery time. If they told me they are wrapping up production and will ship items in a month, I'd have been just as happy.

    Jeda Hub for Model Y

E-mail today saying shipping to begin in 2 weeks. A few notes: Production will be wrapping up in about a week and a half. Shipments will begin in two weeks. Since we are a bit backlogged, these will be going out in batches on a weekly basis. We know you've been waiting for you hub, and we...

EAP Upgrade Non-refundable or 48 hours refundable?

"All sales are final. Upgrades are not eligible for refund after 48 hours of purchase." I'm guessing this is just a weird Tesla way of saying no refunds after 48 hours, but "All sales are final" means no refunds at all to me.

    Enhanced Autopilot Vs. FSD

Is that a thing? I didn't even know that that was a thing. Based on the reports of people with early MS with high mileage, it really doesn't seem like you're going to need to do that. I remember when the plan was to have hot-swappable batteries at the supercharger stations for instant fill-ups.:)

    How do you display energy?

I had a loaner MX and I have to say if you put an X-sized screen in the Y and let me see my energy use on an always-visible X-style dial, I would have a perfect car.

New upgrade option as of 9/19

How do you get it to go in your garage? Stand where you want the front of the car to be and then move away before it's done?
  45. FredMertz

    Enhanced Autopilot Vs. FSD

GM/Cadillac is rolling out SuperCruise for a $25/month subscription, which includes $10 a month for Onstar access. So it's only $15/month or $180/year incremental. That's maybe worth about $4000 upfront if you price it aggressively. Unless you are convinced that SuperCruise will somehow be...

    Enhanced Autopilot is BACK!!

It has to be the indicator as I think you agree. This is a basic technology found in entry-level cars. Elon doesn't like it, so it gets short shrift. I don't need a side-view mirror indicator -- just a chime as warning would be great for most of us and anyone else can turn it off an be no...

Enhanced Autopilot Back as 4k Option?

I'm confused -- it's not possible to have a Model Y without AP right? So what's the relevance of this in a MY forum? Am I missing something?
  48. FredMertz

EAP (Enhanced Auto Pilot) for $4k. Who’s in?

Comparing a capital raise to a revenue boost is a mixed metaphor. They are unrelated. Anyway, 10,000 people spending $4000 would generate $40 million dollars that would drop almost entirely to the bottom line, which would be pretty significant.
  49. FredMertz

EAP (Enhanced Auto Pilot) for $4k. Who’s in?

Here’s a question nobody has asked: if you buy this upgrade and a FSD subscription comes out, will there be a cheaper subscription option for you?
