    A Lucky

Wasn't able to complete the title before... zap... message posted. Edit title? No luck doing it. So here it is: "LUCKY SLEEPING DRUNK DRIVER SAVED BY AUTOPILOT" From the San Jose Mercury News December 2, 2018: CHP: Tesla driver suspected of DUI may have had autopilot on By Mark Gomez and...

    CA HOV Stickers

Unless the DMV decides to issue a new color decal next year that expires beyond Jan. 1, 2022 (extremely unlikely), all red decals will expire on this date, regardless of when they're issued. Think about it: How is an enforcement officer going to be able to determine the red decal expiration...

My CA DMV registration fee jumped from $80 to $258!!

But wait. The license fee portion is deductible...unless you own a typical house in CA, where the Republican $10K total deduction limit on property taxes probably kills this for you. Well, at least we don't have to deal with smog checks on our Teslas.

My CA DMV registration fee jumped from $80 to $258!!

My S90D with similar factory options came to $818 total. When you upgraded to a 75D, it's unlikely that the DMV adjusted your license fee portion up to reflect its increased market value. If you'd like, I can let them know and have them fix it. o_O:eek:

California red car pool lane decal - waiting for DMV

The wait is over! I received my (partially) filled out form from the California DMV in the mail today. :) It turns out to be their standard REG 1000 form. For those who don't want to wait, you can probably just fill one out with your info and check the boxes shown on the attachment along with...

My CA DMV registration fee jumped from $80 to $258!!

A more far-fetched, but legitimate scheme from a 60s TV show: With great difficulty and cost, a stamp collector obtains the second of only two extremely valuable stamps. With the seller and an expert in the room to verify the authenticity and value, he burns one of them right in front of them...

My CA DMV registration fee jumped from $80 to $258!!

I just received my renewal notice from the DMV for my 2016 Model S that I bought from Tesla at the end of 2016. The "registration fee" portion of the bill went from $80 to $258! I knew it would be increasing, but, from the latest DMV info on their site, the maximum for a vehicle worth over $60K...

    Cars keep crashing into me...

I'll plan on doing this at the next opportunity.
  12. Haxster

    Cars keep crashing into me...

Or at least that's what V9 shows when I'm stopped in a center lane at a red light. Rather annoying to see images of vehicles, well within their lanes, sliding sideways into mine. Perhaps Tesla should add some metal crunching sounds to enhance the effect...or not.

Driving on Autopilot and coming up on slower cars in adjacent lanes

I'd argue that these fall into the "defensive driving" category and, at least in the crowded Bay Area with many incompetent drivers, are a source of many highway accidents.
  16. Haxster

Driving on Autopilot and coming up on slower cars in adjacent lanes

How about just after dawn on a weekend? AP2 also seems unaware about driving in someones' blind spot, moving when someone is in yours, a motorcycle wants to lane split (actually legal in CA!) or driving alongside a big rig or distracted driver on a curve. Scary stuff.
  17. Haxster

Driving on Autopilot and coming up on slower cars in adjacent lanes

You are not alone on this behavior. The car seems to try to center itself in a lane regardless of what it's next to. And worse, in a situation like you described, it can suddenly brake very hard when approaching a slower car in an adjacent lane...even when it's not over the line. This is even...

Supercharger - Los Gatos (expanded Jun 2021, 20 Urban stalls)

Stuck with 100amp Service from PG&E. HELP!!

I have the early identical house situation here in the South Bay, except no central A/C...but our range and oven are both electric. We have both gas and 240V connections in our laundry room but are using a gas dryer. Since we're not using the 30 Amp 240V to the dryer, I figured adding a 50 Amp...

Can you unlock by pressing rear door handles?

It works the same way on mine. Kind of annoying. There may be a reason they decided to make it work (not work) this way, but it's a mystery to me. Maybe a bug that they never bothered to fix?

Supercharger - Los Gatos (expanded Jun 2021, 20 Urban stalls)

Kidding? Obviously! :) They're practically the Camry's of the South Bay. Once the L.G. SuperCharger is on-line and the locals discover it, it's likely to see HEAVY usage...and a lot of queuing congestion along the narrow parking strip. Time will tell... And it should be a boon to the local...

A couple of photos from today 9-12-18: The configuration is 8 + 4 72 kW? chargers with a couple of "Tesla-envy" chargers in between. Still nothing mounted on the transformer base. Reasonably wide lanes, though they could use a little new paint. Lots of shade (with potential leaf, sap, and...

To get Carpool Sticker now or wait until 2019

Since there's no advantage to waiting until after 1-1-19, I called the DMV Clean Air office to see if I could get an early start on converting my 2017 white decal to red and avoid the potential deluge of applications and backlog. I was told that the form is not yet available...with no estimate...

400wh/m how do I get lower?

In addition to what others have said, make sure that you have regenerative braking enabled. Speed/wind drag is a big factor. You didn't mention your typical speed (e.g. highway or city). Lowering the car can help a bit at above moderate speeds. Running the heater also sucks up energy. And keep...

The Model 3 is Too Long!

If the wall to your guest room is not load bearing, you could cut out the drywall on the garage side and then cut out the 2 x 4s in the region of the front bumper. This would gain you ~4". You'll need to be really careful pulling in or consider something like wheel stops for the front wheels...
