Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

When I'm the passenger, I'm much happier when my wife engages TACC and Autosteer. It's much smoother, and I can nap. I'm just saying! :)

    Dashcam questions

What file format are you using for your 256GB drive? (One of the linux filesystems? Which are supported?) I have a 128GB drive and had to partition it into four disks and format them using FAT.

    AC Charge or DC Charge?

I love to choose hotels with destination chargers, and enjoy arriving with a low SoC and leaving with a high one. Superchargers on the road in between. Might as well enjoy the "free" kWh.

    Speed Limited on Autopilot

It's most easily explained by a patch of bad map data showing some section of highway as not being limited-access. You may find that it always repeats in the same spot until it's fixed in a map update.

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV (High Roller at LINQ)

I'm charging right now in the big new Supercharger v3 site under The Linq and High Roller in Las Vegas. I don't need a lot of charge, and I'm in a Model S that can't take the full charge rate. Right now the car is charging at 66 kW with 68% SoC. The site needs a PIN code to enter, which you'll...

    SpaceX F9 — RADARSAT Constellation - SLC-4E

I was at the "Hawk's Nest" near the Vandenburg AFB entrance gate off Hwy 1, Avalea Rd. I had silly hopes that it might be above the fog, but could see nothing. The site was pretty well packed though, seemingly about 40% Teslas. I drove up from the Pasadena area in the morning. Could see...

People are crazy not to buy Tesla cars!

Sadly, service is very hit or miss. The hot spots of Tesla ownership appear to have the biggest bottlenecks right now. Understandably. Here's hoping it's all better soonish.

    SpaceX F9 — RADARSAT Constellation - SLC-4E

Three Teslas waiting for an open charger at the Madonna Inn. Overhead in the queue, "Everyone was at the launch! It's going to be like this all the way back to San Francisco." He seemed more amused than upset.

    NoAP Experiences in LA/405/101

There are a lot of LA trips (San Diego, too) where the current build of NoAP gets seriously out of whack. Have you run into the occasion where it gets into a loop of "Changing lanes ..." then cancels, then "Changing lanes ..." then cancels, over and over? I've seen that a few times. I'll still...

Tesla Superchargers are overwhelmed with Model 3s

I took delivery of my Model S on December 17, 2018. My first extended drive was from Pasadena to Scottsdale, AZ ... ... on December 22, the Saturday before Christmas. We paused for a driving break at Indio, found a stall and plugged in, though the car said we really didn't need to. It had our...

    NEW OWNER WITH SOME QUESTIONS

I have a problem with false alerts from one of my proximity sensors. The Service Center could see that the particular sensor was misaligned. It was probably caused by landing the car on a parking barrier before I took delivery. It's been a couple of months since the diagnosis, waiting for the part.

Cute, after dinner in Amarillo we came across this parked car truck with a load of Model 3s. You can't buy or service a Tesla in Texas, so these are probably headed east.

    Things even FSD won't do

Point conceded. :) I too can see much of this happening. I think the most difficult hurdle for people to overcome is this: A self-driving car will never drive exactly the way they would, be it choice of route, following distance, whatever. It might drive a lot safer than you or I do, but it...

    Just purchased a 2015 CPO

A thing has to be worth more than its price to you at the time of its purchase. If it's not, there's no reason to buy it. If the price goes down or up after you've bought, that doesn't change the value it had to you at the time of purchase. You still have a car that's worth whatever it's worth...

    New FSD details

Yes, that's how Automatic Lane Change works with generic autosteer. When you're on Navigate on Autopilot, the gentle press is enough to confirm a lane change. It will carry on on its own.

Still waiting for price cut on AP/FSD

    New FSD details

It will already cancel the signal automatically. Let me suggest: Change the way you confirm a lane change. Instead of doing the full "lock" on the signal stalk, just give it a half-press, as if you were doing a "four blink" signal. The stalk returns to center, but the car continues signalling...

Sharing Map Destination to Tesla App Not Working

Yes. It's something of a non-obvious feature, but can be pretty valuable. Find a destination in Google Maps, and you'll often see a "Share" button by the site description. Click "Share," and along with messaging apps and such, it will offer the Tesla app. The Tesla app will send it to its...

    Buy a used Model S

If you read the forums here for a while, you'll get the impression (as I have) that you're much likely to be treated better during the transaction by a private seller or 3rd party dealer. Sales service from Tesla appears to be nightmarish right now. If you're willing to put up with that, in...

The «Full» in Full Self-Driving Capability

Just for sake of comparison: Until a couple of years ago I was using a Tomtom GPS standalone navigation device which had speed limits based on location data. Many show rooms closing… Now what?

It seems like the wording of the law would become critical. You say "no car dealership ...." Tesla is a manufacturer, not a dealer. They have no dealerships, only store fronts. There's no third party. I think it will take a judge to parse out that language. :)

Impact of February 28 Announcement on Current 100D Owners

Yes. Nothing has changed the value my car has for me personally. (S 100D purchased Dec. 2018) Capitalism works because a buyer values a purchase more than its price, and the seller's price is more than his cost. (That said, Early Access Program does not have value for me, so I'm glad I didn't...

The new fantasy sales framework will fail

I bought my S online Dec. 18, and the drive home was my first drive. It was a "new" inventory car with 500 miles. It has this one issue with the front right ultrasonic sensor knocked out of position, pointing a bit low. As a result the proximity alarm gives out many false chimes. It happened...
