    Incorrectly Placed Solar Roof Tiles

It connects to the inverter via zigbee, which is why it needs to be close to the inverter. Surprisingly, I have mine on the second story ~30ft from my inverter and it connects! All the Gateway sends is the aggregated output data that shows up in the Tesla app. They won't set the app up into...

New 6.78kW Solar Roof Installation in San Diego

My install team had a more detailed roof layout than I've gotten, not sure who has that! I didn't get a copy either.

New 6.78kW Solar Roof Installation in San Diego

I think you're right all the way around! I asked my project advisor for it and he was cool about sending it to me. Oddly enough he had to get it from the designers, he didn't have it in my file on his side.

    Incorrectly Placed Solar Roof Tiles

Have you used the M Professional app for Android? It's great! Use the code 6532 to activate and access your inverter via Bluetooth. You have to be very close to it, I have an M8 as well and am getting loads of data. Here's the screenshot from today.

New 6.78kW Solar Roof Installation in San Diego

Wow, that's a big swing! Good to know it fluctuates. I had tree shading, we ended up cutting them down, my wife wasn't sure about it but it really opened up our side yard, so everyone is happy now!

    17kW System = 98.4 kWh Production (5.79kWh/kW of Panels)

Nice. I have a lower roof that gets shade in the morning and afternoon. In hindsight I should have planned on cutting down trees, oh well!

New 6.78kW Solar Roof Installation in San Diego

So I got more information. Be sure to request the detailed design from Tesla before they submit it for permits. In my detailed design, string length is limited to 36 tiles due to max Voc at min temp, so they ran two 35 tile strings into PV1 from both lower and upper roof, and then split the...

Good question! I activated the app using the "6532" code that was listed on another post, and also used that code to access my inverter every time. What access code are you using? On my app I access it from Menu- Analysis- History- Last 10 days

    17kW System = 98.4 kWh Production (5.79kWh/kW of Panels)

That's great Richard. I'm only getting 25.8kWh out of 6.78kW in San Diego! That's only 3.8kWh/kW...

Solar Shingles - Where to start?

If tesla let's you put down a deposit, they service your area. You won't know scheduling until they get back to you, which happens quickly after the deposit. Usually takes a few weeks for system design, then they have to get permits, then they can schedule the start date.

Does your router need to be on 24/7 for all this to work?

Do you have a power wall? The answer is different based on whether you have one or not. Power wall has a backup gateway and talks over wifi or cellular. I don't have a power wall, so I only have the little black box that connects to my router via ethernet. Good news is, if your solar isn't...

Burn or leaky cell on solar roof tile?

Thanks trautmane2 ! I thought it was weird, I'll add it to the list. The install crew is still engaged. They got some of the Firestone underlay on a few of the solar tiles, and they didn't clean it off when I pointed it out, so now it is permanently bonded to them, they tried their normal...

Burn or leaky cell on solar roof tile?

I got very close to take the pictures. I touched that spot to see if it was on the surface. It is not cracked or broken on the top, it might have been damaged in the bottom, but I didn't pull the panel to look underneath. This is what they look like when they shatter, had at least 2 of these...

Burn or leaky cell on solar roof tile?

Hi Everyone! I was cleaning my solar tiles yesterday and noticed this strange pattern on one of the tiles. At first I thought it was bird droppings, but when I looked closer, I realized it was under the glass. Has anyone seen this before? I don't know what it is and if it means the tile is...

New 6.78kW Solar Roof Installation in San Diego

Hi everyone. This forum has been a great resource as our installation occurred earlier this year. We put in a 6.78kW solar roof, no power walls, with a delta M8 inverter. The solar installation is complete, there are still some minor roof items that need to be cleaned up. I am trying to...
