It's good to hear this firsthand! I have often disregarded people's problems with a black instrument cluster to outside sources and not a failure of the PCBA and/or Instrument Cluster. It is also good to know that the Full Reinstall worked from GEN 1 to GEN 2.
Thank you sir, very good video, that will help for sure! Every time I do one I think I need to do a video, then after putting the 1 last torx screw in the foot well I remember!
This was a quick well put together video from Tesla about Drag Strip Mode. I wish my P100D would drop the front in Cheetah...

I did it..they don't look as "sporty" as the Michelin PSS, but are quieter and have good rim protection. I have only driven about 20 miles, but the handling does not seem dramatically different.
Anything is possible if you have the time and patience. The part you touch is the glass digitizer, and the bubble underneath is the LOCA (glue/goo) that leaks out from between the digitizer and the LCD screen (the part number you listed). Most people break the glass digitizer trying to remove...
This is pretty darn close to your ask, and its fairly close! Teslas For Sale By Owner | This rare model X has transferable free Unlimited Supercharging, Ludicrous+, Highway Autopilot with lane changing, the fully automatic 7 seater, and l...
Hankook iON EVO AS they make them in a staggered set 245/35/21 and 265/35/21. I have not found any reviews of them other than the Model 3 guys talking about them and a Youtube video of a guy in Snow saying they are great. I am in Florida and don't plan to leave, so I don't need all seasons, but...
The common failure points sound like they are still working. We often see the gears breaking on the motor, (which we now carry the complete motors for that reason). But you could always push a Software Re-Install to try and recalibrate the Hall Effect Sensors.
You would need to determine which door handle you have first. If it is the original handle, it would likely be the paddle gear. If it is a GEN 3 handle, it is more than likely a broken motor gear. We are working on a solution for the GEN 3 handle motor gear.
That is weird, NCDS took my case when I was outside of warranty after Tesla tried to drag feet. But I also lost my case with valid arguments and documentation so I guess one might say they didn't really "take my case"
This was a roller coaster of a read! I thought someone had it figured out, then we didn't, then someone had something...lol! We just got a set of these Matrix beauties in inventory and I want to put them in an Older Model 3!
I like the look of the Matrix headlights, we just got a new set in our inventory the other day and they look great! They also have some super neat features. I wish there was a way to retrofit them to a non-matrix car, because I have a feeling they would sell much quicker.
I agree with you about the newer seats being uncomfortable. I went from a 15 P85D with the Next Gen seats to an 18 P100D and I am constantly adjusting myself trying to get comfortable. However, I don't road trip this car since I have to pay for outlandish supercharging fees now. 😂
Not at all. There was no change from taking it to them to picking it up. Arbitration actually denied my claim despite all the evidence of a known common failure. I was also able to question the Tesla attorney during the arbitration and that was fun. Tesla attorney stated it is not a common...
Never mind problem is back...misdiagnosed? I am trying to get remote diagnostics, however, Roadside nor the Service Center say they can do it, so the car is sitting in my daughter's daycare parking lot...
This was an excellent read, thank you for posting. I recently had this happen and immediately assumed the battery HV contactor had failed, so I had the car towed to Tesla. Then they told me it was the heater, but it would have cost me that to get it towed back. Next time, I will keep remote...
I agree, I have not seen one like this before, it doesn't appear to have the normal delamination issue. Well, you know where to go if you want a new one!;)
Frank,
The instrument cluster bubbles are just cosmetic, there is glue that was used between the display and an extra piece of glass that leaks. This will not cause anything to go blank nor make the car undrivable. The only problem you will have is the goo/glue will leak everywhere and make a...
Wow, that really did get it. I thought when you were explaining it, it was just the front glass, but that broke the display too..bummer. Well, your new screen is on its way, thanks for updating the thread.
Unfortunately, the math is not on your side as this one will more than likely fail as well. The extra piece of glass that Tesla used on the Gen 1's and early Gen 2's fails, it is just a matter of time. The screens that we sell do not have the extra glass, so they will not bubble.
@kirkhilles hopefully you received the positive recommendations needed. Thanks to @fultonpub for the support. Just to provide some clarification, our screens do not contain that same glue that leaks from your original Tesla screen, because you are correct, it is an absolute bear to clean.
Old post, but good information to have in the internet search!
This is one of the most common questions I get. I have found that the easiest way to tell without pulling the whole dash out is to look at the instrument cluster surround. If it has a thick aluminum band around the outside, then it...
Stephen, that is a GEN 1 screen. Our youtube instructions are for the GEN 2, and most others here are replacing GEN 2. As far as a solution, we could sell you a used PCBA board. But I can't say for certain that it won't need programming, maybe a software person would know this, but more than...
"This was the most ridiculously priced tube of grease, something that normally costs $8, was $240!"
I am sorry for the information not being clear, I was referring to "normal" grease. :)
But you are correct, this is part of our all-new annual service kit!
Over the past month I have been working with evfixme, and people like David Hofmann, Tom French, Paul Garcia, Your Tesla Solution to name a few, to consolidate a list of people willing and able to make most Tesla repairs. If you need any repairs to your Tesla, check out our growing list...

There was a guy on Tesla Model S Facebook Group who did it, it only took him 12 hours.. The glue is the worst, most people end up breaking the glass. It is possible though.
We have a couple prices, I sent you a message because I am not a vendor here, I don't want to violate forum policy.
Yes it is, it is a pretty simple swap that as far as the car goes, it thinks nothing happened, other than power was off for a little bit.
BrettS is killing it on the info, thank you and the community thanks you! I did receive some Gen 1 screens, but I don't have them on the site yet, because they are being tested, shortly though we will have a cheap alternative for the Gen 1 IC people!
That is one of my biggest pet peeves, thank you! I changed the search to better suite the Google algorithm, but then broke the link here, you just cant win! Unfortunately it will not allow me to edit that post, but here is a new link. Instrument Cluster to replaced bubbled, leaking Tesla Model S...
