How bad is the damage? 2022 Model X LR

I was similarly hit like you were when our X was at 600 miles. Ugh! Your damage looks like mine. In my case the repairs costs around $2,500 at a Tesla-approved body shop, and it came back looking like new. The biggest hassle was the 9-week wait for a new rear bumper, but I was able to keep and...

    Frunk tub removal

Ratatouille frunk invasion: Unbeknownst to us until Spring, we “hosted” rats in our detached unheated garage this past Winter. After chasing them out from under the slab in April, I noticed our Model X smelled near the frunk, and suspected the rats had been crawling inside to seek out battery...

Help please! Model X Glove box can't open

I’ve had this happen at least four times in three years. Usually because something shifted inside the glovebox and is blocking one of the latches. Stick a putty knife between the dash and the glovebox door, and gently wiggle it/apply pressure while hitting the release button. It’ll pop right...

Charging stuck at "Calculating..." for ~1hr

The problem may be that your battery heater is broken. I just had mine replaced this past week under warranty. In the late January cold, I was only able to supercharge at a max of 10 kW/hr on a 20% battery, and that was after 1-1/2 hours sitting there. That disappointing experience led me to...

How much mileages do you have with your tires?

2018 MX with 19” Contis here. I’m at 43,000 mikes on the original tires. The fronts look worn, the rears like new. im either lucky or I don’t launch enough! Regardless, I’m replacing them by 45,000.

Total Shutdown of Electronics on Freeway!!

2018 100D with HW3 MCU2 here. This started happening to me after my HW3 upgrade. It’s definitely freaky the first few times this happens, but AP will not crash if it’s been previously enabled. To resolve, reboot the MCU while driving by holding the two steering wheel scroll wheels until that...

Tesla Brand All Weather Interior Mats

We have the Tesla X rubber mats throughout the car, and have been quite happy with them. They take midwestern winter quite well! The front two mats have Velcro, and are very well seated in place.

    Screw in tire

I had this happen last summer. In my case, I had to replace the tire as the screw was at the tread/sidewall transition, where the rubber thins out. The Service Center opined that the tire could have been patched if the screw was in the tread. Hopefully you may be able to patch it!

Interesting Article on Tesla By Germans

Spiegel Online has another very interesting article about the Berlin Gigafactory. "Plans for Tesla Plant Jostle German Car Industry" elon-musk-seeks-equal-footing-with-german-tesla-factory-a-1296704.html This article is as extremely informative and well written as the previous article posted...

Post Something You Love About Your ICE Car

The 6-speed stick and driving with both hands and feet. ('06 Cooper S convertible) It's as fun as our Tesla, but a completely different driving experience. That being said, I'm never buying another ICE again!

    Passenger reactions to full acceleration

You can definitely adjust both your own and your passengers' backs with a good launch! It can also be nausea inducing, so after a good demonstration takeoff or two, I'll take mercy and drive it nice and gently like a minivan. I love knowing I have the torque there, even if I don't always use it.

Chicago superchargers all inside parking garages?

The Highland Park IL has four superchargers, but they're not public. I think if you happened by after hours and there was a spot free you could plug in. But why drive to Highland Park from downtown when you could stop at the Skokie superchargers. They've TWENTY 120 KW spots there, all in an...

Is there something wrong with my X?

All of the above responses are very valid. I would also suggest you change the “miles of range” setting to the “ percentage of battery’ setting” it’s semantic, but I find it helps me, as “miles of range” is based on your current (past 30-miles) driving conditions/ behavior, and can be mentally...

Got a new X - question about the rear view camera.

The camera won't pop up once dismissed no matter what gear you're in. If the camera is not displayed, you'll have to manually go into the applications menu at the bottom left of the display and press the camera icon to get it to display again. Once the camera is displayed, it stays displayed...

Got a new X - question about the rear view camera.

I agree with you; the camera should automatically appear when the X shifts into reverse. Perhaps this could be addressed in a future software update? Ourselves, we're very conscious of making sure the camera is onscreen before we back up. The one and only time I scuffed our X, the camera had...

Vendor Help...Where in the (blank) can I find the FOB battery for Model X..?

Wow. These are tough batteries to find. After WAY too long searching, I found reputable CR2354s on Radio Shack's site: cr2354-3v-lithium-coin-cell-battery The many listings on Amazon all look very scammy, and the various reviews reflect that.

Six Seater Road Trip Worthy with all six seats occupied?

Hi there, I've a 7-seat Model X that our family of four, with two animals and luggage, regularly fits into comfortably for 3-4 hour trips. On three occasions I've had seven people in the X for 3+ hours. The upside is everyone fits! I'd definitely put the smaller people in the 3rd row, with the...

    Home Charging setup

Congrats on your X! You’re gonna love it. I would only use Superchargers for travel. The X is a thirsty car, and it will take time sitting at the Supercharger to charge. This will get old quickly. I would NOT rely on charging with a 15-amp 120 outlet. At best you’ll add 3 miles of range per...

Do people need to be informed first? 6 Month part wait list?

I sympathize with you as we went through a similar experience. Our MX with 600 miles on it was rear-ended in January by a new driver running a red light. Thankfully the car was drivable as the parts took 9 weeks to come in. The repair took 4 days. I see you’re in Westmont, I’m in Evanston...

What all goes into getting power to a detached garage?

I have done this twice in two different locations. At our house in Chicago we added a sub panel with a 100-amp circuit and trenched that to the detached garage. It connects to a shutoff panel, then feeds to a Tesla wall charger that provides 70amps/240volts to our X. The total costs with...
