    Supercharger - Bairnsdale, Vic

Tesla’s supercharger development in Gippsland has been very disappointing. I’ve done Pambula Beach to Melbourne in my (now 5+ year old) Model S P85D and used the Metung Hotel destination charger. I had to hang around in Metung for about 5 hours before being able to drive on to Melbourne. And...

I hope this means a functioning sunroof will return to the Model S

Total deal breaker not being able to get a sunroof. I was about to upgrade my P85D Model S and take advantage of the free ludicrous mode but cancelled as soon as I realized I couldn’t get a sunroof. I checked with Tesla and they told me there was no off book option either. What a crazy decision...

    My charge port just opened....

If your charge port is sticking, as mine was the first couple of months after I got the car, you just need to clean the inside of your charge port, particularly the area of the magnetic lock. I did this and have never had a problem since.

Does anyone know when the 3-phase wall chargers will be rolled out in A/NZ

I've also been told Q1 2016 is the new ETA. Very frustrating. I am not going to install wall chargers at work until the new chargers come in.

    Autopilot Experiences in Australia

I've had few problems with autopilot, highway or city street driving, but how does lane change work.? I've never yet had the car change lanes when I've used the indicator, either the initial default level or fully on. Anyone have any clues why it doesn't work for me?

Back in the Fold - P85D is on the road

Very nice Jay! My P85D is exactly the same colour including the wheels. It's been a long time since the Get Amped test drives in the US mate! And the cars are so much better than they were back then too. Good luck avoiding the speeding fines. Cheers.

I've managed to evade detection, AEW 004. And it's currently in the shop being Opticoated while I'm overseas so it will be even harder to go incognito after that!

What Electricity Scheme? Solar on the Roof?

I have micro inverters under my panels too. The brand is Enphase. A bit more expensive to install but it does mean that you have minimal loss of efficiency when one or more panels are in the shade, or compromised in some other way. Great where you have panels on roofs facing different directions...

Looking for feedback from Australian owners, particularly in Perth

I've had a P85D since late August and I absolutely love it. Having dual motors is a huge plus and is the thing I would most recommend. The grip, even in the wet, is fantastic. It is more important to get dual motors than the performance model, and probably most other options as well. I like...

How did he get AEW007?! I'm AEW004, but I wanted to be James Bond! Oh well, at least I still have a license to kill. A. E. W. = Australian Electric Wheels?

Suggestions for planning a Victorian ski trip

Great trip summary. Thanks. I went to Hotham that same weekend, leaving on the same Thursday, but I was too chicken to take the Tesla, despite the fact these is a destination charger at Dinner Plains. Maybe next year I will be more adventurous.

Australian Model S Dual Motor Launch

I'll be there too. It's going to be strange driving a P85D to the launch of the P85D!

Waiting was worst when the expected delivery dates kept shifting. When delivery times became more conservative it was easier to handle. Just 3G I'm afraid.

    Tesla in Australia

Thanks again one and all. Of course, today I ended up taking a couple of mates for a spin and they were blown away. And I don't mean just the acceleration from zero km/h. Sure, Insane Mode is a hell of an experience. But these guys couldn't believe the ride comfort, the quietness of the ride...

Thanks guys. Picked up the P85D this morning. The guys in Richmond don't even have their demo cars yet. Somehow they got hold of mine a bit earlier for me. Very good of them. I think one other gets released next week. Sensational car! I'm very happy. Worth the 5 year and 11 month wait Dborn!

    Comprehensive Insurance Cover

Youi would not quote me, at least not using their online system. Although I'm getting a P85D I selected P85 (the closest they had) and the message (after completing all the rubbish) said they could not quote me due to the high value of the car.

All true, but the car is worth the wait. They may not be great at managing expectations, but this is still a new car company. It is filled with enthusiastic people who are doing their best. And Tesla has changed the world in a big way and is continuing to do so. The car market will never be the...

In my opinion, just forget the car. Tell everyone who asks, basically everyone you know every time they see you, that it will likely be March 2016 before you see the car. Use the money you don't spend in the intervening twelve months to save for the extra bits and pieces you will want to buy...

And this critical system issue could not have been foreseen? What about the RHD P85D test vehicles slated to arrive end of Q1? Prepare yourselves. This will be the first of many delays. I've been through this for years. I'm betting not before 2016.

They (Sydney) told me today that deliveries of the first P85Ds are on track for June this year. I was told yesterday (by USA) that demo vehicles would be here early Q2. I'm not sure head office in the USA even knows precisely just yet.

Don't know if I made the right decision or not. Let's face it for day to day driving none of us 'need' the acceleration even an S60 model Tesla can provide. And a P85+ has mind blowing responsiveness and acceleration. But I decided that, having waited as long as I had, another six months or so...

First Signature and First Production Delivery in Australia

Got a call from Tesla US today. They have offered to rebuild my car with the new speed limit display and lane drift detection features. First Signature and First Production Delivery in Australia

It seems the only progress Tesla are making in Australia is in creating more demand they can't fulfill.
