    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

But I DO want it. I want it so bad. I just know ELDA would probably drive me nuts. I'm not trolling, I'm bummed. I feel like the little kid who just had his ice cream cone smacked out of his hand.

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Me: "They changed how the car drives after I ordered it and I'm not sure I want it anymore unless they're likely to change it back." You: "You're just not ready for the car. Or maybe you're a troll." I'm sorry if my hypothetical rejection of your favorite car hurt your feelings.

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Who told you automation was the point? I thought emissionless driving was the point? Or a superior propulsion technology and better driving experience? I'm looking forward to playing with autopilot in traffic, and someday a long time from now when I can literally get in the car, buckle my...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

I'm not in the habit of spending lots of money for minor inconveniences. You baffle me a bit, too. Look, you either get it or you don't. Don't be myopic. Different people have different priorities, and the Model 3 is taking customers from across the automotive spectrum who will be looking...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

So I’m supposed to pay Tesla tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of going into a submenu and disabling this every time the car comes out of park? I’m sure they’ll improve the false positives a bit in future updates, but there is no indication whatsoever that this is not a feature...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Lol, ok, guy. I don’t want a car that inserts itselt into my driving in a way I can’t permanently disable. You can call that whatever you want, but I’m dead serious about not taking delivery. Why would I? As multiple other people have pointed out in this thread, it is a material change to...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Yeah, this is exactly what I mean. I do the same thing every day in my “legacy” car. I’ve got two wheels on the edge of the lane on a short stretch of my commute because the center is torn up. This kind of stuff is everywhere.

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

You don’t need to signal to track out to the shoulder a bit. In fact it would be confusing to others if you did so. This isn’t about lane change etiquette.

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Thanks, Willow, I take your point. But I think there are a lot of instances where I would not be putting in steering input to move the car, because I’m a good driver and I look ahead and let the car drift gently rather than sawing at the wheel the whole time. Like the example just above my...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Driving out of DC during rush hour they deliberately reconfigure roads to run against the marked lanes. So parts of e.g. Canal Road you’ll be driving on the “wrong” side of the road because a two-way single lane road is temporarily designated a one-way two-lane road. And a million other things...

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

It’s really heartbreaking because I thought Tesla’s philosophy was different. Autopilot should be off when it’s off. I don’t want the car grabbing the wheel over its own faulty sensor/camera readings when I’m ostensibly in control. I’m supposed to pick up my car in a week. If this doesn’t...

Emergency Lane Departure - False Positives

Gotta admit I’ve always been perplexed why people conside OTA updates such a bonus. Yes, things can surprise and delight you by getting better after you bought the car. BUT THEY CAN ALSO GET WORSE! You have to live with the fact that the car you paid $50+k for a year or five years or ten...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Thanks so much for this post. Sounds like the SR as a distinct model does exist after all. Do you have any option on the car or in your account to upgrade to an SR+ now that you have the car? Did anyone tell you what the upgrade cost would be? I can’t get a consistent answer to this one...

Upgrade costs for SR to SR+/autopilot?

So for any of you SR folks, is there any apparent way for you to upgrade to SR+ right now?
  15. Z

Has anyone confirmed SR is slower than SR+?

Alternately, has anyone done an instrumented 1/4 mile test on a SR or SR+ car?
  16. Z

Has anyone confirmed SR is slower than SR+?

Details, like everything to do with SR, seem to be hazy. Has anyone confirmed that SR cars as actually delivered are any slower than SR+? Or was that one of the originally-intended differences like cloth seats that has since been dropped?

Information about UV Blocking for Tinted Windows

Sorry, quick correction after I went back and googled this. It had been a few years. I think UVA can actually tan you, though UVB is what burns you. And both are carcinogenic.

Information about UV Blocking for Tinted Windows

No. You can’t get a sunburn in a car if the windows are up. Glass—any glass—blocks UVB, which is what causes tanning and sunburns. You’ll never get tan on a cloudy day for the same reason; UVB is easily blocked even by clouds. But! But! Normal auto side window glass does NOT block UVA...

Upgrade costs for SR to SR+/autopilot?

Got it, thanks! But I assume there’s no SR+ option on the account screen yet? This is so frustrating. I know it’s “off menu” now, but I cant even figure out what I’d be buying.

Upgrade costs for SR to SR+/autopilot?

Thanks. What are you basing the $3k price on?

Upgrade costs for SR to SR+/autopilot?

Is there an official word out as to what the post-delivery cost is to upgrade from an SR car to SR+, or to add autopilot? I got an email from an owner advisor that it was $4500 to upgrade to SR+ and $4000 to add autopilot after delivery. And autopilot would not be included in the first one, so...
