Have a 2018 S 100D with ~70k miles. Half shafts were replaced in January 2021. They appear to be bad again. SC gave me a full price quote to fix. I tried to make the case that the latest TSB with the so-called "permanent" fix was issued in May 2021 and that it's not right for the customer to...
Contemplating selling this as it literally sits in the garage 99% of the week, and I'll be working from home for quite a while longer. I'm the second owner and purchased from a fellow TMC member in June of this year.
Specs:
2019 Blue with white interior
Performance upgrade package
Basic AP...
Thanks! I didn’t know the 2-step was normal. Thought I was doing something wrong. I am probably using too much product though. One spray per panel is nothing. At that rate, I’ll have the bottle for years :)
The shine is fantastic!
@joebruin77 I picked up the Xtreme PolySeal based on your recommendation in another thread. I wash with ONR and then apply the PS by spraying directly onto a wet MF towel and wiping down the wet car. I end up with streaks or a slight residue with this method and typically have to go back over...
On my second 3, both with white. Have 3 boys ages 11, 9, 5. They are like pigpen in Charlie Brown, and I haven’t had a stain yet that didn’t easily come out. Use diluted chemical guys orange cleaner and wipe them down about once a week. Would do white again no question.
I’m with USAA and had a windshield replaced last summer. Did the repair through Tesla, paid out of pocket at the SC, submitted the receipt as part of my claim with USAA, and they deposited the entire amount into my bank account.
Thanks everyone for the responses. Greatly appreciated.
Didn't realize some of the scratches were as bad as they were. Oh well, it's always good to err on too little cutting.
Not keen on spending $200 for a new DA polisher at this point and may try an orange or CCS pad and a compound to see if...
Ok I went and picked up some M205 at autozone and tried it with the tangerine pad. Took a bit more out but still have some scratches I’d like to work out.
Should I try a more aggressive pad with the m205 or try a more aggressive compound? I’m wading a bit out of my depth at this point and any...
Thanks all. I ordered the Optimum polish and tangerine pad as suggested, and it didn’t do it. Thinking I’ll try m205 next and see if it has enough cut. Not sure how much throw my buffer has. It’s a porter cable random orbital, have had it for a long time.
I did wash and clay the area I was...
It's all based on your average Wh/mi. A 320-mile range on a 74kWh pack implies average Wh/mi of 231 (74000/320).
It's really hard to hit 231 Wh/mi unless you're driving 55mph on a flat road in warm weather.
Take something more realistic like 250 and you're down to 296 miles of capacity. Let's...
Another strong vote for LR for all the reasons stated above.
Also consider the possibility that you may enjoy driving this car so much you decide to travel longer distances in it.
My wife has a Honda Odyssey we usually use for road trips. Her tags were expired and we decided last minute to...
Great thread. I’ll toss out something more obscure that really shows off the system. Anything sounds good! We love cranking the music in this car :D
What A Wonderful World
Looks great, can you post wheel and tire sizes? I am debating picking up another set of A/S wheels and tires that are more range-friendly for road trips, and I like the way this looks.
Thanks, looking at Optimum Hyper Polish now. Interesting that it's a spray, seems convenient. I've had good success with ONR, maybe I'll give it a go. Does that tangerine pad have enough cut to remove scratches, or is it more for finishing?
Not sure what happened to my hood, but it kinda looks like someone dried it with a sandy towel. Not swirls as much as lots of minor scratches. Can't feel them with my fingernail, so I think they're pretty superficial.
Looking for input on what compounds and/or polish work well on the M3 paint...
My boys and I started counting cars one afternoon running around town to sports games to see how many of them were faster than our car. Let’s just say the kids lost interest in counting before we found one :)
Ty, how was the road trip from Chesterfield to Mexico? Good SC coverage down there? ;)
I owned a LR AWD for about a year and traded up to a P+. Couldn't be happier with the decision. And while I owned the LR I bought the boost and tried it for a weekend before returning it. It was faster, but the P is on another level.
You've driven a P, now you're exposed/ruined :) If you like...
Not so sure. OP’s wheels are about 3# lighter per wheel than OE. Not sure about tire weight but you’re not talking about a difference that would cause a 0.4s slowdown. Same with a passenger unless they’re both offensive linemen. Maybe a tenth or two for both of those but not enough to explain a...
If these cars are anything they are remarkably consistent. There is no driver skill involved to hit published 0-60 times and little variability from car to car. You don't need to be on a prepped drag strip with 75 degree weather and 36% humidity at 1500 ft above sea level facing northeast at...
Any dots on your regen bar? Make sure battery is warm. One way to force this is navigate to a supercharger, and it will start preconditioning the battery.
At high SoC and good, dry roads you should be close to 3 flat with rollout. Did you have passengers? Stock wheels and tires? Post a screenshot of Dragy.
This thread makes me want to go back to the track. I did an HPDE at VIR in my e36 M3 back in 2006. Thanks for the videos and details OP. Pretty encouraging to see how the red P3D performed with MPP comforts and upgraded pads. Do you think the master cylinder brace would help brake feel on your...
Don’t go through Tesla. I found a good used option from a fellow TMC member and then contacted local higher end used car dealers to see what they would offer for my car. Once I got a dealer to offer a good price, I was able to negotiate for them to buy the car directly on my behalf and...
TN is in the stone ages. No rebates, and it costs *more* to register an EV than an ICE here. Also no EV exemption for HOV lanes (doesn't matter as HOV lanes are not enforced at all). In AZ there were no state rebates, but a 5 year registration was $50 and you got single driver HOV access as...
I have a Torklift hitch on my M3P+ and used it for the first time last weekend to take my 3 boys mountain biking. Borrowed a hitch mount bike rack from a friend and was a nervous wreck driving to and from the trails. Everything ended up fine, but on Sunday when my kids wanted to do it again I...
