    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I got a robo-call the day before asking me to confirm my appt. I then had a human call me about 30 min before my home delivery .

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Just took delivery today of my red w/white interior. This is my third Tesla, I had a very early model S, and a VERY early 2017 model 3 (vin around 2500) which this one is replacing. They’ve definitely gotten better at making cars. This is the first one that didn’t have minor issues on...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

That sucks, but is not typical. I got a trade-in offer from them in April which was pretty close to what everyone else was offering. After 30 days it expired though, and I had to get it updated and… it actually came back higher the second time. Shop around, like others have said.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Just got the prompt to accept the lack of radar, followed by a VIN. Ordered late April, date was saying 1-11 weeks just this morning, now 6/24-6/26.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Surely my late April order will get a car matched to it soon. I think being close to the factory is putting me at the bottom of the priority list.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

EDD now back to 6/17-6/30 after bouncing to aug-sep for a few days… I expect tomorrow it will be replaced with a shrugging emoji.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Any other (late) April orders with EDD pushed to Aug-Sep?
  8. M

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Damn, I’m super jealous. Guess it’s likely mine is getting kicked out of the quarter now for some reason, despite ordering in April. Maybe white interior is having delays?

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Good grief… ordered in late April when the site said 5-7 weeks. After showing an estimate of the next week for almost a month, now it’s just jumped to Aug 16-Sept 5. Guess they ran out of red paint.
  10. M

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

That would be a fast turnaround, but I guess it’s possible. I ordered a month before you and I’m only an hour from Fremont, but I’m not certain I’ll get mine this month. No vin for me yet, but a window of 6/9-6/27, with the start date moving every time that day actually arrives. ;)

    15" GUI performance....Long term?

I don’t recall my S getting slower over time if that’s the concern.
  12. M

    15" GUI performance....Long term?

I think it’ll hold up pretty well, it’s already a very bright, high res display and renders maps with fluidity (feels like 60fps). You could double the pixel density or crank it up to 240hz and I honestly wouldn’t care, for what it does I don’t think further performance would be that appreciable.

    Model 3 EAP Experience

Since this thread got revived I’d like to add that I’ve had better luck with autopilot since my intitial findings, and I’ve gotten used to what it can/can’t seem to handle at freeway speed. Really seems to only struggle with combinations of curves and elevation changes at high speed. Anything...

    Owners: Diameter of UMC cable?

The gen 2 cable is in fact narrower, at 1/2 inch. I noticed the difference in feel right away, just measured it to check for you.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Some premium balsa wood, probably. :) I doubt it, it's light gray, whereas every S I've seen had a slightly tan Alcantara. I wonder if my 3 having Alcantara will make it a collector's item some day? :)

Model 3 Delivery - Trading Current Car In

I had originally planned to trade in my 2013 Model S, and late last year had sent in an inquiry to have it appraised. The offer was comically bad, so I began looking into other convenient options. I ended up selling it to vroom.com just this past week, who gave a pretty reasonable offer ($5500...

Does Homelink work with your Model 3?

Might be a dumb suggestion, but are the batteries in your remote fresh?
  18. M

Does Homelink work with your Model 3?

What step of the homelink setup is failing for you anyway? Seems like there's two potential points of failure... 1) Hold down your remote's button until headlights flash (car learns your remote) 2) Put your opener in learn mode and follow prompts on the screen to pair

    Model 3 Backup Camera Sucks

After living with the model 3 backup camera for a couple weeks now, I've gotten used to it. The fisheye I acclimated to quickly. The higher contrast looks awful in some lighting, but might actually be clearer than the S camera in the overcast rainy conditions we've been having lately, which in...

Does Homelink work with your Model 3?

Working fine over here. I have a somewhat recent LiftMaster, installed ~2 years ago but the exact model I can’t recall. It worked with my S as well.
  21. M

    Model 3's Ride Quality

My 2 cents - when I initially got behind the wheel, the ride felt rather rough (coming from an air suspension S). After 300 miles it feels fine. I either acclimated, it broke in a bit, or a little of both. I'll still probably look at some cushier tires after these crap out.

    Model 3 EAP Experience

LIDAR blah blah blah. I'll give a crap when it's used in a production car. Back to what actually exists today... (edit: apparently there's a 2018 audi that uses it, my bad, guess we can keep complaining about it) I made another observation while driving through my trouble area again: I...

    Model 3 insurance

For me, Geico was the best deal, followed by progressive. I checked 5 or 6 insurers and the prices varied so widely it was hard to believe, most of them were terrible offers.

    Energy Consumption On Model 3?

Here's another data point - I've got a couple hundred miles on my 3 with 19"s, a combination of around town and freeway stuff. Averaging 250-260 wh/m. My P85 I tended to average ~330 wh/m, so you can guesstimate my driving tendencies from that.
  25. M

    Model 3 EAP Experience

I think maybe more than just the curves, it's also hills that throw a wrench in things. The stretch of freeway I've been testing on kinda has a lot of up and down rolls. Nothing extreme, but it's almost never completely flat either. I think its just the combination of curves and slopes that...

Should I trade in Model X for Model 3?

I just "downgraded" from an early S to a 3 for various reasons, I don't think it's crazy depending on what you're after. For me, I don't carry a lot of people or stuff, and generally I prefer smaller cars anyway, so if a 3 had been available back when I bought my S, it would have been my first...

    Cannot Pair Phone as Key?

They work through my wallet, a thin card holder.
  28. M

    Model 3 EAP Experience

This was on highway 101, posted limit would be 65 I believe. I would normally drive this stretch at 70-80, traffic permitting. It's not like these are sharp curves, just large, gradual bends, and it can't handle them at anything close to the speed that traffic is flowing. It's definitely a...

    Model 3 EAP Experience

So I've had the Model 3 for a few days now, and have taken a couple opportunities to try out EAP on the freeway. I've never driven or even ridden in an S/X with AP1 or 2, so trying out the 3 has been my only AP experience so far. My first experience was very positive, a lengthy drive home from...

Model 3 Regenerative Brakes vs MS

I have only around 70 miles on it so far, but my impression is that it feels similar to any other Tesla but with some minor differences. Compared to my P85, I feel the regen on the 3 slows you more quickly initially, but isn’t as capable of bringing the car to zero mph, so yes the brakes are...

    Cannot Pair Phone as Key?

Is it possible you have bluetooth disabled on your phone? I was able to pair my iPhone X during delivery with no fuss.

    First Day -- Quick Take

I’m surprised you find the braking spongier, coming from a 2013 p85 I feel the model 3 brakes are dramatically more firm/precise. Maybe that’s something that’s been improved in later S’s?

    Model 3 Backup Camera Sucks

I dunno, I've seen backup cameras in recent 40-50k luxury cars that are straight up lousy. The whole infotainment thing in my brother's new Audi looks prehistoric, and that wasn't a cheap car. Meanwhile, you can get a 360 degree birds eye view in a Nissan Versa. Does that make it the superior...

    Model 3 Backup Camera Sucks

The backup camera being of lesser quality was one of the first things I noticed too, but it's hardly a deal breaker. It's not going to strike most drivers as "bad" because its as good or better than anything in an ICE. Compared to the S though, it's more distorted and the contrast is kinda...

    Model 3 Deliveries

Just picked up my Model 3 today at Fremont. Delivery started an hour after scheduled, they seemed pretty busy, lots of families there. Car is overall fantastic, and a net upgrade over my early Model P85 S (which I plan to sell). Pros vs ye olde S: Smaller (I like smaller cars in general)...

    Tesla owner configurations begin

I think it’s partly that there’s not much left to be said, but also anyone getting a 3 right now has already owned a tesla, so there’s not quite as much euphoria. :). I’m looking forward to picking up my car on Wednesday, but almost five years of driving electric gives me a pretty good idea of...

My delivery is on for tomorrow!

I don't think free supercharging was on the model 3 details page at any point, but Elon has made some comments that could have led someone to expect it. I didn't. Your comment about cost though made me do some research. I saw you're in Germany, so I looked at what a normal tank of gas might...

Delivery Specialist called but almost missed it ... I hung up at first!

You'll get an email from [email protected] (not a call) when they're ready for you to pick your options and begin the final stretch which they estimate at 4 weeks for everyone so far. After this part it's varied for different people, but you should get contacted via phone at some point...

    VIN Assignment

I put in what I could, everything short of insurance basically. My first contact with a human was just last night at end of business hours, and now I'm being told I should have a delivery date scheduled by end of today. I think those of us who are getting fast turnarounds are just luckily...

    VIN Assignment

    VIN Assignment

I was assigned a 25xx vin today after I got a call from an inside sales guy based out of vegas. I've been told it's likely I'll get my car before year's end, despite finalizing my order just this past Friday. I don't have a loan or trade in to worry about, and I'm very close to Fremont, so I...

Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

Well, the config site when you finalized your order seems to suggest that at SOME point you'll be able to get whatever combo you want, because they already have checkboxes for turning on/off the PUP independent of anything else, but that button just doesn't work yet (and has a little disclaimer...

Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

Tesla sales people are often misinformed, so I wouldn't despair until the SR version actually enters production. Nobody really knows at this point.

Order now or delay till later? opinions please

Regarding the tax credit, it will begin to phase out for tesla after they sell 200k in the US, which is fast approaching. I haven't followed this subject as closely as some, but I expect the credit will begin phasing out after Q1 of 2018. If you wait 2 years, it will definitely be gone. As...

I'm trying to make sense of the online orders that are going ahead of the remaining in-store orders placed by current owners. Have you made any referrals? Any other tesla products you've ordered, like solar roof? I'm a 5 yr owner, 1hr from fremont, ordered mid afternoon in store and still...

Web reservations given priority over line standers?

There have been a couple more reports in other threads from people who ordered online getting invites today (12/14). I'm perplexed why Tesla isn't just going in chronological order. Why invite online orders before you're done with in-store owners who put money down hours before?

Out of curiosity, are you in LA? Seems like those who have “jumped the line” are in LA. Congrats on the invite, I’m also a CA owner and placed my order in store a few hours before you, so I’m hoping I’ll get my turn soon.
