It's probably a good business decision. Sedan is cheaper to make (just my guess). People will still buy regardless of their preference (Tesla still can't make enough of them). If one really need the liftback, buy the more expensive model.

I just got a call from Tesla to let me know today is the last day to order for September delivery. I was told I was one of the last two reservation holders that haven’t placed the order and the next delivery will be December.
