Never had this happen before. I’m on Wi-Fi with full signal strength. App shows it’s downloading the update but it’s been stuck at 3% for a few hours. Rebooted the touchscreen but still shows 3%.

Yep. Rebooted both my iPhone and the touchscreen on the 3. Today I couldn’t even get into the car, I had the app open and it showed “phone key disconnected.” I had to use my key card.

I recently began experiencing issues with my phone key. iPhone 14 running the latest iOS version. Toggling Bluetooth seems to fix it. But it is annoying to have to do that each time it doesn’t work. Service just replaced my 12v a few weeks ago.

Has anyone had any luck getting the new SDK installed? It be helpful to see some more thorough documentation than what’s on GitHub. I noticed @timdorr hasn’t updated his site.

Turns out this was due to a low 12V battery. Tesla service came to replace it this morning and viola the USB drive was recognized. Who’d a thunk the 12V battery would have anything to do with the ability of the touchscreen to mount USB drives?

The USB drive isn’t being recognized after I received 2023.44.30.5.1. I’ve rebooted the touchscreen and I also connected the drive to my PC and formatted it. The car still doesn’t recognize the drive.

Was disappointed that the holiday update didn’t include much in the way of UX improvements. Something as simple as fixing the map zoom (like it used to work on pre-v11 software) would go a long way to improve UX.

Isn’t there a 0.5 second switch over from grid tie to backup only mode? That’s enough time for devices to lose power.

So Tesla wants to charge me a diagnostics fee of $265 just to tell me what the problem is. I’ve paid for Tesla service before but never have they charged a diagnostics fee. Pretty frustrating.

What is the effect of not repairing this? Is it actually a safety issue? and what would the implication be (if any) in a collision? I’d be very reluctant to dish out $1,000 for this if safety is not compromised.

Disagree. I’m an owner and I want other manufacturers to pay Tesla a fixed rate per vehicle to support expanding the supercharging network. It’s not sufficient to simply charge $/kwh. Part of the cost baked in to the purchase of a Tesla is to support the charging infrastructure.

How much do these manufactures have to pay Tesla to gain access to the supercharger network? Or is Tesla just giving it to them for free? There needs to be a commensurate increase in the number of superchargers to accommodate all the excess vehicles. Other networks will not keep pace with Teslas...

the 89% round trip efficiency is indeed disappointing. Other DC coupled solar battery storage units have higher round trip efficiencies, closer to 95%.

For some reason, each software update recently seems to increase the default zoom level on the map. At this point my map defaults to a 500’ radius around my position. Not sure how that is helpful. How do I set the default zoom level?

PW2 is a deal breaker for me. I mean if PW2 is the only option I will look elsewhere for my battery storage needs. What is the technical explanation for PW3 not integrating with an existing solar system if it replaces the inverter? Setting aside positive grounded panels.

You should be able to order PW3 direct regardless of what your setup is but installation will be on you.

Correct, I don’t accept what Tesla says at face value 100% of the time. I like to understand how things work and Tesla doesn’t provide any logical reason to support that statement.

A solar inverter is a solar inverter. It doesn’t matter what brand of panels you have. I will connect my panels to the PW3 and it will work.

What size is the solar inverter in the PW3? It seems to depend on the PV voltage? My PV array operates at 240 V so does that mean the max I’ll get is 240 x 13 = 3.1 kW? That would be disappointing.

Anyone order Powerwall direct recently in SoCal? I’d be curious to know the PW version and whether anyone has requested PW3.

How does this work if you order Powerwall direct? Can the order be canceled before a purchase agreement is signed?

@andy92782 what are the dimensions of the Powerwall you received? PW3 is considerably smaller than PW2.

Manufacturing costs are expected to be lower for PW3 but this may not translate to the retail price.
