One pedal mode uses the brakes?

What makes you think you can tell if the friction brakes are being lightly applied before stopping? You cannot tell without access to the CAN bus or by visually observing the friction brakes.

One pedal mode uses the brakes?

Even if that is the case and the brake pedal does move down when you get below 7mph that doesn't mean for certain that it is using the friction brakes. However, I agree that it is using friction brakes because at low speeds the model 3 motors probably can't generate enough braking torque to come...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

My trip meter, after turning Summon Standby OFF, is showing a lower wh/mi "efficiency". This tells me that there may be a bug and the Summon Standby mode is using energy while in Drive. I'm not referring to overall efficiency I'm referring to efficiency while driving aka the wh/mi readout on the...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

I did an experiment today and turned off Summons Standby mode. Although this should not have an effect on efficiency I found that my efficiency increased nearly back to normal with Summons Standby OFF. I tried this because of others reporting much increased vampire drain with this mode and...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

Nope, Ken. This is without rain. Its starting to sound like I'm not the only one seeing this decrease in efficiency with the latest sw update...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

Interesting, burrito. Can you point me to the facebook thread? your experience sounds similar to mine. Agreed that you lowering your car *shouldn't effect the wh/mi negatively unless somehow the airflow got worse and caused more turbulence than before lowering. Not likely though imo. I did not...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

This is good info. Much appreciated. LR RWD with FSD 7500 miles stock tires. Same route Cabin temperature OFF Temperatures in the mid low to mid 50Fs (~12C) I'm not using any third party data collector. I note the efficiency after each drive and strive to keep it low. According to your chart...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

Thanks, woodisgood. I haven't changed tires and the temps are in the 50s here now. I appreciate the feedback. A portion of my efficiency loss is definitely due to the temperature. I guess I'll have to wait for warmer weather to know for sure.

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

That is a good point.... However, I'm trying to determine if I have an issue with my vehicle that requires service. If something is drawing extra power when it shouldn't be that could be a sign of an issue that I would like to address before any potential damage occurs. If it is normal and other...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

Another thought: I have FSD package with HW2.5. I'm wondering if the latest update is making greater use of the processing capabilities of HW2.5 and we are starting to see the effects on energy efficiency. Anyone else with FSD on HW2.5 seeing an efficiency decrease with the latest update?

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

My range estimate has NOT changed. I pay close attention to my wh/mi used and immediately after the last update 2019.32.12.2 my efficiency decreased by 25% and I started using 280wh/mi. Before the update I was getting around 223 wh/mi.

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

I realize rolling resistance and drag increase in the rain. The efficiency decrease happens in perfectly dry weather too like yesterday. So nope that wasn't it.

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

I'm in the Pacific NW. Temperature has dropped 15F to about 50F. So most likely it is not only temperature related. Also as I mentioned I had the car in March 2019 at the same temperatures and didn't see this effect. Has anyone else seen a decrease in efficiency? This is nearly a 30% decrease in...

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

After the latest update the wh/mi on my normal commute has increased from 223 wh/mi to ~280wh/mi. My range estimate has not changed as I'm still seeing 254 miles at 80% which is consistent over the time I've had the car. This is a LR RWD with 7500 miles on it. Has anyone else seen this...

    Double Tap Park Autopark

Same here. I have HW2.5 FSD on V10 (2019.32.11.1) with homelink and it does NOT work for me. With or without the brake pressed. With or without Continuous Press summon. So maybe it is a HW2.5 limitation. Originally I thought it wouldn't be a HW2.5 problem because it isn't a very image processing...

    Tagged on the Highway

KenC - great breakdown above. As for adjusting following distance I would say that if you are in someone's blind spot or overlapped for more than a few seconds then that means you are going the same speed as them. If traffic is not very dense, like in the case of this post, you can click your...

Touch up paint for aero wheel

For people with the 18" aero wheels that didn't match with AFM0360 I'm surprised. I had great results. To my eye this was a perfect match: Dupli-Color AFM0360 Dark Shadow... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HE66OK8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share First pick is after sanding out the scratches and second...

    Tagged on the Highway

The best thing about this thread is that it has the potential to make some people realize that the likely hood of this type of accident occurring is reduced by staying out of the blind spot when possible. Autopilot has the hardware to do this it just isn't implemented yet. I have confidence it...

Accident on Brand New Model 3

AP doesn't consider cars in adjacent lanes blind spots: I find that when in autopilot the m3 will not consider the cars in adjacent lanes when determining where to reside in its own lane. This is not a flaw as the system is designed to follow the car in front at a set distance regardless of...

Lane Departure Safety Features Not Working

This has happened to me as well. On 2019.16.2 the LDA and ELDA would work 80% of the time and sometimes when I didn't want it to like when trying to go around bicyclists or pedestrians. The next update after that (2019.20.2) I too had much less success with getting LDA or ELDA to activate during...
