Todays problem: Steering Assist Reduced, Park Assist Not Available, ABS, Traction Control and Air Bag Warnings (and probably others)

If you have finance on the car that might be possible route to look at? A friend had these kind of issues on a Hyundai and after months of hassle they pushed the finance company who took the car back. I believe they are legally liable if the car is not fit for purpose. I think the same...

    Final trip

I no longer have a Model 3 neither, replaced with a petrol car. Range isn't the issue for me, it's the worsening charger availability worries. Those that are working are in constant use. If, like me, you rely on public charging due to living in a flat then EVs are too difficul to live with and...

    Tesla MoT North East Scotland

I booked in to Halfords in Ayr and walked out. The tech was moaning my car was "An f*****g death trap" to his colleague, he had no jack pads (I did), no training, he couldn't use the automated tester for the brakes, worked on one the other day and couldn't jack it up, etc... No way I was...

    [UK] 2022.36

Just got the notification to download this update, my first thought "What will be broken next", two years ago I would have said "Can't wait to try out these new features". Think I'll give it a few days and see what the feedback is first.

    [UK] 2022.28.X

Driving the M6 N yesterday daytime and dry weather from Stoke to home (near Glasgow) on AP and at Penrith the car went mental with alarms, visualisation stopped and warning messages, cruise disabled, SOS disabled, automatic emergency braking disabled. So 150 miles with no cruise was a joy...

iOS App climate control stuck on “Lo”

Same thing happened to me. Force close the app and re-open, give it a few seconds and set the temp. It then seems to remember the previous in car setting.

What a bunch of muppets. I'm not going to watch the video as it's just trashy click bait.

    2022.20

Sentry mode and cabin overheat all off. Who knows what it was up to. I did get a call from the mobile tech a little while ago, he said the fix for the alarm won't be in the next version of FW but probably the version after. So hopefully the next release after 20.8 will have the fix. I'm...

    2022.20

Yesterday after opening the back door first to prevent the alarm going off, I sat in the driver's seat and the indicator was ticking away. No external flashers going and no flashing green arrows in the display, just the ticking noise. Had to do a reset to clear it. More 20.7 weirdness.

    Alarm on unlock issue

As expected they have cancelled my service appointment with a message "Most likely, this will be resolved remotely and there will be no need to bring your car in".

+1 for the alarm issues, booked a Ranger visit for 12th Aug. I'm expecting that to get cancelled.

    Alarm on unlock issue

Same issue here, mobile service appointment booked for 12th Aug but I suspect the issue is SW. They asked me for the times when it's happened via a message on the app, so I've been replying every time it has happened, which is about twice per day.

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

I had a 2012 320d with adaptive Xenons, they were excellent, 2017 Volvo with LED adaptive lights were even better. The lights on my 2019 M3 are really not worthy of a £50k car, our base model Corsa (with LEDs) is better. Not sure why Tesla are so far behind in this area. Is it really because...

Bonnet app gets you access to Ionity at 50p per kwh. Drops a bit if you take one of their refill bundles. Also gives you Genie and Osprey with one app, same price.

Wind vector on the map….I wish

It does make a big difference on range. Having driven almost the length of the M6 in a headwind last winter, even capping speed to 65mph my range on an LR was down from it's winter usual by about 30% so charging stops every 120 miles or so instead of 180ish. Headwinds can have a dramatic...

    kW

The heater, especially on pre heat pump cars, can suck up to 6KW (as I recall from a Bjorn video) but not all the time as it modulates according to cabin temp. Not sure AC draw in KW but a lot less than the 6KW heater, one of the reasons summer consumption with AC on is much lower than winter...

Electric car rapid charging costs soar, says RAC

VAT on a commercial charger is rated at 20% while at home it's 5%. If it were harmonised at 5% then public charging costs would drop a fair bit.

    Level of charge on pick-up

Do you mean what was the state of charge on collection? Mine was 60% or so I think. Believe they aim to give you enough charge for the journey home, which it was.

Model Y LR - 100% charge - how many miles does your screen show ?

Nov 2019 LR with 22k miles is showing 296 miles at 100%,. A few moths ago it was 286. doing some BMS magic has upped the theoretical range a bit.

Tesla Model 3 Front Sensor False Positives

Mine ping for high kerbs at junctions and sometimes creeping along in a traffic queue. I have a hunch that other cars' parking sensors (which often engage at low speed) are sometimes causing mine to give a false alert but I don't get anything like yours, it's just the odd ping. Think you...

A thought on the 'small' tesla?

A thought on the 'small' tesla?

Strong headwind - was the weekend following Eunice. On a good day I can just make it home from Charnock if I charge to about 95%, arrive home with around 5-10% taking it easy at 65-70 all the way. I've had good days with no queues but last 3 trips I've always had a queue at Gretna and...

A thought on the 'small' tesla?

Personally I'd rather have 8 x slower V2 stalls than 4 x V3s with higher headline speeds. If you can get a V2 stall and you're sharing charging at 75KW or so then you're still charging. Sitting in a queue waiting for a V3 you're charging at 0, then when you get a spot it's a case of I have to...

A thought on the 'small' tesla?

Very much agree with what you're saying, I'm sure I read somewhere that the Model 2 or whatever it may be called is dependent on 4680 cells to be able to get to the cost/price/usability balance right for a small EV. I'd happily consider one as I don't need a car as large as the M3, a Golf sized...

    Volvo C40 0-60mph 4.53 seconds

Didn't Volvo limit their cars' top speed to 112MPH a while back? I think it applies across their entire range, ICE and EV.

    Model 3 Servicing Costs UK

    Model 3 Servicing Costs UK

My car (Nov 2019) is on a 3 year 36k mile contract with Leaseplan without maintenence. I checked with them if the brake fluid and cabin filter was required and the response was no. If it were my own car and I was gonna keep it a while I'd probably do the cabin filter change myself and pay for...

M3P Pilot Sport 4 vs Silent

I've just replaced four OEM Michellin PS4 Accoustic with four Michellin Primacy 4. No noticable difference in noise level but as some have said it sounds a little different, no better/worse, just different. Wanted Cross Climates but none to be had anywhere. Haven't really pushed the tyres yet...

No drive and blank screen on entry

Do report it, it could be a one off bug but could also be the infotainment computer or something more serious like the HV controller - that was the fault on mine. They'll be able to check from the logs if there's any HW concerns. Better to report and get it checked out than be stuck at the...

    Precondition battery

I believe if the car thinks you are navigating to any high power charger (i guess at 100kw+) it will pre-heat. I noticed the other day that Ionity were now showing up if you search for a rapid charger on the navigation and if you select it, the car does pre-condition. Not sure if it will do it...

Percentage battery charge is a percentage of what? (2021 MIC M3LR)

Whoops...I think 100% refers to 100% of the usable capacity. But the usable capacity is dependent on degredation, temperature and probably a hundred other factors. So it's 100% of something depending on the day, weather, phase of the moon....!

[Model S] CCS adapter and older evolt chargers

I've found these older CPS Evolts are always a bit flaky. On my Model 3 it can be a bit temperamental getting the old Evolts to handshake with the car. Sometimes a software reboot at the car end sorts it and sometimes I find I have to start the charge BEFORE I connect the CCS cable to the car...

Why I believe the Tesla M3 AWD is the only really viable EV

On a recent trip from Bristol to Glasgow leaving at 10am on a Sunday morning was initially great, stopped at SuCs on the M5 and again at M6 Charnock Richard. However as the day wore on there were queues at M6 Tebay, M74 Gretna and M74 Abington. So I had to use CPS chargers off the motorway to...

    Spotify Playlist

You could make the playlist public and then search for it in the car, however I have a feeling on a non-premium Spotify it might block you from sharing. Maybe you'll need to take out premium for one month, share and then cancel. Not sure if the playlists will disappear from public view after...

BBC 1 - Panorama: The Electric Car Revolution – Winners and Losers. Wednesday at 19:30

I can predict how this is going to pan out.......Cobalt > child labour > terrible EVs > rage > buy an ICE, it's better for the environment. Of course no mention whatsoever that the oil industry needs cobalt to turn oil to petrol - as well as huge amounts of energy.

Model 3 rear seat comfort for adults on long journey.

The voices in my head say so.
  48. Andy_T_73

Model 3 rear seat comfort for adults on long journey.

Comfort is a subjective thing. Personally I find the front seats fine but nothing more, I don't sink into them and go "ahhh" like a good Swedish chair but I don't get out aching after a long drive. The rear?...well IMHO are not the best. The floor is too high in relation to the seat base...
