Reviving this thread. Did anyone else have the button in the frunk disabled with the single stack of FSD beta update? Everything was working fine with the relay and light strip and then.......

Even though the Target lot looks appealing, remember, it’s a PITA to get back on the Belt Parkway west bound from that shopping center. You have drive up to Cropsey Ave along Bay Parkway and go around the block. There is no legal left turn onto the west bound Belt from Bay Parkway.

We have a tight garage in Brooklyn. I was never able to get the car to park on its own because too many warnings go off. However, the car will back itself out of the tight spot no problem with summon. I guess it is a one way feature. 😄

I think we can finally put a "problem solved" on this thread. I installed the Hansshow frunk lights that have the relay inline. They work without an issue and the button still is active! Finally! If you have a power frunk, you need a relay. End of story.

I received mine this week from Hansshow. I got the relay version as well. Hopefully this will do the trick. Now to just find the time to install it....

I was finally able to contact Hansshow. They put me on a What's App text string with the technical support people. From what a few of the tech support guys said, all of the shipping models of the Frunk light now have the relay built in to the harness. I placed an order today for it. Not sure...

Did you get the strip with the relay? Trying to contact hansshow via chat or email is virtually impossible.

Just saw that Tesla accidentally published the exact address for the Belt Parkway Supercharger. Looks like it is coming to 8949 Bay Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11214 which is the Caesar's Bay Target Shopping Center.

Please post your results with the relay version. I just hope they don’t send an old stock one without the relay (that would totally be my luck).

Thanks! EV offer power frunk but Hansshow light strip. The button in the frunk won’t close the frunk if the light strip is attached. The light on button remains on.

I couldn’t get the extra ground to work. I had some other ideas but didn’t try it again since we were going on vacation and needed the trunk button more than the light. It’s still on my to do list but a little lower down. 😀

I never tried them. You mentioned to me but was hoping to get these to work. I was going to try the relay route but I just put it on the back burner. I was using the additional ground method that EV offer suggested but I couldn’t get that to keep the button working.

Interesting. I had honestly given up on this mod. I tried all sorts of combinations with posi tap etc and nothing worked. The button in the frunk would just not work if it was hooked up with the EV offer power frunk installed. Did you order directly from Hansshow?

Yup, that’s what happened with me too.

If anyone was worried, it’s back up. I charged at a max of 233 kW yesterday.

Tire rotation was just bumped to $65 in Brooklyn for Tesla mobile service. It was $50 in 2/2022. Lots of local tire places in Brooklyn, not sure if I trust anyone here though....

So now I am seeing what you are saying. I will disconnect the LED negative from the Hansshow harness and attach the LED negative to the ground that I ran. That would preserve the Frunk button’s negative and give an alternate path for the LED negative.

I have am attaching the new ground wire to the bolt where the EVOffer power frunk is grounded. I made a video of it happening, but didn't realize that you can't upload video. Anyway, the Hanshow LED lights has a harness built in to make it plug and play, so I am tapping into the harness...

It took me a while to get back on track with this. However, I must be doing something wrong. So I ran a wire from the common ground and used a T tap on the gray wire. Once I make the connection, the light on the button and the led strip stop working (I imagine it is tripping the e-fuse), but...

I see the hood gap that you are talking about. If it were me, I would bail. Even though they are good to you now, a third round of shipping might not be a charm. Also, if you get a third one and it is not damaged, but the fitment is bad, I would not be surprised if you get a lot of push back...

Do you mean Corolla, NC on the OBX? It definitely shows up on my supercharger list. I’ve had the tesla route me there almost every time now when I drive down the Eastern Shore.

I never solved the mystery and it is still doing it. I turned off the Wi-Fi. I turned off the cellular. I turned off the Bluetooth. I tried the solutions proposed here. Walk away still doesn’t work at my in-laws house. I just have to remember to lock the doors again or else I’ll have an...

I think with the STATS app for the iPhone you can program in hard stops for charging. It's under the Smart Charging setting. This way you would not spill over into the peak rates.

So did you tap in to the gray wire from the Tesla OEM harness to the frunk button or on the EV offer harness that is connected in between? Or does it really not matter? Thanks for figuring this out!

You will have to install a relay. There is a thread with the instructions. Not sure how to send the thread, but the thread is titled Frunk LED Light Strip for Model 3 or Y

So, I am going to use your relay pin suggestions with the Hansshow LED that I purchased. I figure that I will splice in the relay into the Hansshow LED wire loom and won't have to cut the OEM wiring. Is your relay still working or did you take it out? You posted that you had burned out some LEDs.

Looks like everyone else on the thread is using the 4 pin relay. Any reason why you chose the five pin?

Just shooting from the hip here, but would one of the manual 12v LED dimmers lower the current significantly? The hansshow LED strip is super bright, and if I dialed down the brightness some, do you think that would be significant enough for the frunk switch to not stop working?

Was there last week on a trip back from Vermont. Every spot was full so this will be a welcome upgrade!

I think I came to the same conclusion that you did regarding the power draw. Was hoping that the Hansshow light strip was less draw, but I guess not. I might trim the LED strip and just run it across the bottom. The LED strips are not too expensive so maybe I can find the sweet spot with draw...

I did the same exact thing as you. I have the EV offer auto frunk and installed the plug and play Hansshow frunk lights for model Y (ordered on the slow boat from China over a month ago). The button doesn't work, but the light on the button does. I do light the light, not sure if I will keep...

Size large is the correct size for the model Y. Our dachshund love it!
