Mobile charger no longer charges at 12 amps

Fwiw,I have found that sometimes after several months of hanging from my wall outlet the short 120v adapter cord gets slightly loose at the end where it enters the charger unit and charging amps drop (in my case from 12 to 6)

When Phone Not Recognized, Where is the Failure?

I have had this same experience, in fact, today and yesterday. Although bluetooth may be One such cause, it apparently is not the only one because both days I was able to open the car with my phone in my pocket, but was asked for the keycard to start driving. Bluetooth was active, connected...

    Model 3 Multiple Issues

You spooked me with this one. I drove 270 highway and secondary road miles yesterday, speed limits from 45-70 mph, and driving speeds from 0-15 mph over the limit. There were several conduction zones and I probably activated the cruise control 40 times. Every time it set to exactly the speed I...

Talk me out of ending my Model 3 lease early to go purchase one

FWIW... I had this same discussion with myself before deciding to lease. My general concern is that I love the car, but I am not sure what that Tesla ownership experience will look like in 3 years. I ran the numbers and despite some who will say a lease is inevitably a bad deal, in my case it...

AWD and changing less than 4 tires?

Yes, I know, but thanks for adding this clarification. Locking is for loose/wet/icy surfaces only; I just thought it was an interesting variation, and perhaps explains why somebody might give such an explanation.

AWD and changing less than 4 tires?

Way back when I had one of the original (1983, in US) Audi Quattro Coupes (it was red, as they all were). To engage the 4-wheel differential lock, one had to be driving very straight as the system would wait until all wheel were turning in sync before engaging, and there was indeed a warning...

Frunk shortcut on the Tesla app, can I change it to the trunk?

Not that you shouldn't want what you want, of course, but I think the reason the app has a button for the frunk rather than trunk is that the latter can easily be opened by hand while the frunk cannot. Both would be nice, just like on the screen.

My M3 Roasting in 85 Degree Temps? Pacific NorthWET

None so far, about 3-4 weeks of doing this. I am guessing that the a/c actually only runs maybe half the time, cools the cabin to the low 80s then is off until it hits somewhere in the 90s (just guessing by the range of temperatures when I enter the car)

My M3 Roasting in 85 Degree Temps? Pacific NorthWET

FWIW, here in Ohio my experience has been with setting the overheat protection to the "use the a/c" setting. I leave my car parked all day in the sun, ambient temperature in the low 90s. When I get in the temperature inside is usually about 86-88F, and none of the surfaces are too hot for...

    Holy Phantom Drain

Perhaps a useful data point, I recently started using the overheat protection (with a/c) instead of trying to remember to start the climate control a few minutes before departure (it works great, BTW), and I am estimating it uses about 300 watts in our situation, 90 degreeF, and parked in the...

Tesla Model 3 - Cruise Control Software Issue - but its BETA!!!

Well, I didn't really "try" it, it just happened... (stopped at curb to pick up the mail, thought it was still in "D" but in "hold" mode.)

Tesla Model 3 - Cruise Control Software Issue - but its BETA!!!

Oddly, with my car (LR AWD, 2019), it will not shift out of "Park" without my foot firmly on the brake, and it displays a warning should one attempt otherwise.

    What is long range mode

Perhaps they are referrring to this entry from the "battery Care" section of the owners' manual: To protect against a complete discharge, Model 3 enters a low-power consumption mode when the displayed charge level drops to approximately 0%. In this mode, the Battery stops supporting the onboard...

    why electronic door locks?

I think it is because outside of an emergency the windows are slightly lowered just before the door unlatches, and they are of course electric. It makes sense to let the system handle this so that the window part is complete before the door can be opened.

    Supercharging Bonus or Error?

As someone noted above, my expiration date is early October, 2021, so about 2 years and 2 weeks.

    Supercharging Bonus or Error?

My car was also purchased in late September, at the time I was told that to meet quarterly goals they would provide 2-year free supercharging for delivery before 9/30/2019, which I received. It sounds as though you did as well, although it may not have been explained to you.

    Regarding Tesla pricing, features, etc.

I can't quite figure out what bothers you about my post, and I certainly don't want to argue, although I invite understanding. From your response perhaps my comments are not clear; if anything I am trying to explain why people should not get so exercised over every "flaw" in Teslas execution...

    Regarding Tesla pricing, features, etc.

Just to note, I understand that Tesla sometimes does things and has policies which seem some combination of consumer-unfriendly, needlessly greedy, and just perplexing. I think it is the nature of boards such as this to magnify these shortcomings, so I would like to offer some perspective...

    Leasing Thoughts

We chose to lease, which worked for us with this reasoning: -- 10K miles/year is plenty for our needs -- while with a lease there is stated as no opportunity to purchase at the end of term, since they are calculating a residual of almost 69%, I don't think we are giving up a very valuable...

    Lease question

Since I am not sure what is your original price there is no point in trying to guess the rate or residual, but if your lease is structured like ours the up front payment would include the $695 acquisition fee, the $500 first lease payment, sales tax (0), and title/etc fees (say, $100?). That...

    Lease question

So, I paid the $2500 deposit, and a shade over $500 at delivery. That $3000 covered sales tax and registration (noted as excluded, above), the first month's lease payment (included in cost calculation) and the $695 acquisition fee (noted as added, above). The actual cap cost reduction Not...

    Lease question

Certainly true, we average about 9000/year, and obviously would have chosen a different lease otherwise. Still, the comparison is as valid as I can construct at this time, do I think my car would be worth more or less than $31,000 in 3 years, and with 27,000 miles. My current guess is that we...
  27. S

    Lease question

In our case, we are paying $603.27/month. For comparison, if we were to purchase at 49,190 and make a payment of the same 603.27 for 36 months, at a reasonable interest such as 3%, the balance at 36 months would be about $31,000 (63% residual, FWIW). I think this is the comparison, do I think...

    Tesla - Post Tax Credit

Seriously, in a traditional car purchase one can easily drive out of the lot with the identical car as somebody who paid thousands more or less than you, because the price is negotiated. With Tesla if you bought the car, you paid the same as everybdy else, apparently a price acceptable to the...

    Q1 2020 PM3 Lease Questions

I would agree with this under the high downpayment scenario, certainly not a good idea. My lease included a $ .14 downpayment and almost 69% residual, certainly this would not be likely to be purchased at the lease end anyhow and works out to about $ .78/mile during the 3 years, taxes and all...

"Tesla Model 3 Produces More CO2 than a Diesel Car" - Please debunk

Model 3 Scheduled for Delivery. Tesla Account Prompting for Payment..

Call your rep at the delivery center and confirm that you will sign papers and bring payment on delivery. Mine took my personal check, not too risky since Tesla pretty much always knows where your car is and can probably even disable it if necessary.

Rear vs front door unlocking difference

My car acts exactly like this, front doors simply push open after pressing and releasing the button, rear doors require a little push while holding down the button. I assume this is intentional, I believe it is a reasonable safety measure considering the possible combination of electric-opening...

    Total lease costs?

Actually, right on the Tesla Lease entry page: Tesla Leasing "Tesla vehicles qualify for a federal tax credit up to $1,875 which is already included in the payment calculations."
  37. S

    Total lease costs?

Regarding the federal tax credit, it has been a while since I was reading the details on their lease page, but somewhere in there they specifically state that they are adding it on to the normal residual value, clearly reducing the amortized portion of the lease payment. This also explains the...

Model 3 LR range is now listed @ 325 miles

I haven't followed all of Tesla's pricing gyrations that closely, but I rather think that since $9,000 added to the (now)-standard SR+ gets you -- AWD -- dual motors -- and upgraded interior/controls/navigation/autopilot in addition to maximum range, there just isn't enough room betwen the...

    Total lease costs?

I may be missing something, but I don't think the price of the car has anything to do with the lease terms once you "normalize" the purchase price. After all, when one negotiates a lease, it begins with negotiating the purchase price of the vehicle, or at least it did the last time I leased...

    Total lease costs?

Each person's situation is different, but here is my perspective. I am choosing to lease primarily because I love the car and am excited to drive it, but I am not totally sold on Tesla's commitment to servicing it properly over a long period of time. This, along with the lower monthly payment...

    Total lease costs?

Hi, MrFusion, I am planning to lease this same configuration, and I don't see a price anything like what you are describing displayed when I query Tesla's lease page. I have checked into the parameters pretty thoroughly, and what you are quoting sounds like it is missing something, can you...
