    Canada - FSD rollout

I have a 2017 Model X. I purchased it with the FSD option. Here I am, 5 years later, still waiting. My safety score is 95, which is pretty good for Toronto driving. I called Tesla to request the camera upgrade in June and so far: nothing. When do you think I"ll be part of the beta? 5 more...

    100D towing range?

One strange thing while towing... As I reversed the boat on the trailer down the ramp, I went quite slowly. The car kept beeping that I was going to hit something which I assume was just the sensors reading the trailer. However, as I got slower, it kept jumping into park and stopping...

    100D towing range?

I just used the trailer for the first time. I towed a 2700 lb water ski boat for 100 km. I kept the speed at about 90km/hr and used about 370 Wh/km instead of the usual 200 Wh/km.

    Solar power solutions in GTA

We looked at it for our house but in Ontario it didn't work for us. We already have 21 solar panels through the micro FIT program. I think we are on the second iteration of this program and we get paid 54.9 cents/kWh which means that selling the electricity back to the grid is is much better...

Speculation: I have heard that supercharging V3 is coming eventually. Does anyone think the 100 KWh batteries will be compatible?

    100D Buyers/Owners

My experience after 110 000 km on an early S85 is to get about 10% better than rated in warm weather and about 10% worse than rated in the cold (depending on how cold). Of course, there are a million factors that can affect range. Hopefully it will be the same when my X 100D arrives.

    Decreasing rated range.

After 108 000 km, battery pack "A", I have gone from 425 to 410 on full charge. Almost of the loss was in the first 12 months. This is a 3.5% change. I'm impressed. I think the battery will last forever.

Ontario to spend 7 Billion on Climate Plan

I don't understand. Why all this money for a miscellaneous group of programs which may or may not be effective. Why not a revenue neutral significant carbon tax and let the market find the most efficient way decarbonize?

Model X Design Studio - Canadian prices

I hate all gas cars and never enjoyed buying a car. Prior to the S I had a Prius. I am willing to pay extra to drive an electric car and I'm willing to pay a lot extra to buy a Tesla. But even that has its limits. For me, the Canadian price is just too high to rationalize. And I've been trying.

Model X Design Studio - Canadian prices

I've had my X reservation since Sept 2014. My S has 80 000km. Maybe I'll trade it in for a new S in a year or two. Affordable or not, I'm sure I can wrap my mind around spending that much for the X.

    Battery degradation

Just another data point: My car is early 2013, 68 000km. 90% is 364km. I lost about 20 km in the first year but really haven't lost anything for at least a year. I charge to 100% only once or twice per year.

    Charging options in Sherbrooke

I did the trip to Sherbrooke. This is by far my longest road trip so far in the Model S. It's quite remarkable how well it worked. I used the Kingston and Cornwall superchargers. I'm still impressed with how fast they charge. Each time I took a normal break from driving and had plenty of...

When can S85 owners upgrade to the 90 pack, and will they get a 90 badge?

I have an 85 kwh A pack and these are the questions I'm curious about: The 90 kwh option is based on new chemistry (just listened to the conference call), therefore, would the upgrade mean replacing my entire pack? If so, and I wanted to wait for a 20% improvement, that would be 5.7% for the...

    Charging options in Sherbrooke

I have to make two trips to Sherbrooke this summer for water ski tournaments. I think the ski site is right in the middle of town, near the Circuit Electrique charger. Do I need to get a membership card ahead of time? As a backup (or maybe plan A), I made a reservation the hotel in Granby...

I noticed that 0 immediately. I thought maybe I'd lost my mind. I took my first major drive this weekend to Windsor. First, it is extremely easy to use the superchargers. The ratio of time charging to time driving is perfect. It was actually quite remarkable how fast my "A" battery charges...

    Why I won't order my Tesla...yet

I'm someone that always hated cars.. All cars. I considered them a necessary evil. Luxury cars more so. The Model S is the first car to come along that ever captured my imagination. Nine of the top ten reasons I bought this car are because it is a pure EV. I think there are a lot of other...

    Canadian Superchargers

1437 posts about Canadian Supercharges and still can't drive from Toronto to Montreal. Really now, what is the hold up? Next rant: It's very exciting to see a supercharger in Toronto. Yet, it's really not that useful for a very large segment of Ontario owners. And Barrie? It's only 90 km...

    Quick tire question

I have the stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A2. I have about 25k on them. I had the tread measured and they are still at 4/32" (front and back). I was told that they should be replaced when they get to about 2/32". Tesla recommended the Michelin Primacy MXM4 for replacement. The cost is $265 per...

Canada - How is your Wh/km?

$0.075 * 48.9 kwh = $3.66 using off peak Toronto Hydro rates. I initially used $0.072 for the calculation. Also, you can add 10% for charging inefficiency if you insist. Then, I'll insist you deduct the free destination charging so the total is more like $2.00. Finally, we have solar panels...

Canada - How is your Wh/km?

Had a lot of driving to do today. I'm impressed and surprised by the numbers. I have a S85 with 34 000 K on it. Did a range charge which took me to 409k rated. Then drove all over Southern Ontario and back home for a total of 308km with 138km of rated range left. My average Wh/km was 158...

    Decreasing rated range.

Charging to 90% might help the car report more accurately without actually being better for the battery. First range charge in a long time this morning: 399km after 32000 km on the odometer. Very rarely charge above 80%. However, someone at the service centre (I forget who) told me that...

    Vampire Drain is (almost) dead

I think I may have vampire issues again. I have the 5.9 latest software version. I usually charge at night, starting at 11:00pm at 40 amps. This means the car is sitting for a 6 or 7 hours until I use it. Lately (I think after the last software update) I have noticed that it often is not in...

Ask Me Anything -- Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman Defends Picking the Benz

This debate is meaningless. First and foremost, the MS does not use gas. That should be the end of the debate for a most of us. Those who are making the decision based on fancy interior lights or how soft the leather is just don't get it.

    Electricity Bill - Ontario

That seems like a lot. The off peak time of use rate for Toronto Hydro starts at 7pm on weekdays and is 7.2c/kwh. If you drive 100km/day at rated (I usually get about 185 W/km in summer) then 193Wh x 100km = 19.3 kWh. Then factor in charging loss: 19.3 x 1.15 = 22.2. Of peak cost is 22.2 x...
