Mystery orange plastic piece - Can anyone identify it?

Hello, I saw this orange piece of plastic in the frunk of a Tesla I am looking to buy. Does anyone know where it came from or what it does? Thank you! :)

Clean shiny salvage Tesla, should I buy this? - Noob question

Must be a good car or just a really aggressive bid war... already up to $27,250. I see it going easily above $30k and then costing $35k with all the fees and then shipping. Not that hot of a deal considering there is no warranty on just an expensive car nor will insurance companies cover...

Unfortunately, the title hasn't caught up to it. I ran a quick search which didn't show anything. Check Any VIN - It's Free | Free Vehicle History and VIN Check

Clean shiny salvage Tesla, should I buy this? - Noob question

My dad's told me that many time, and how I have been burned many times. :p I'm not a dealer, but just a guy who can tackle a small project and likes to have some fun driving around. I'm not ready to lose big time without having seen the car from what I've learned here.

Yeah, this also could be the case. Anyone wanna make a $100 to go check it out lol? Probably right to not think of it for anything else than parts.

Clean shiny salvage Tesla, should I buy this? - Noob question

Also looking at where the car is located in the lot - it has been moved - from an area near a fence to a area between many other cars. Thus I didn't find it to be surprising that the pictures were different.

Are you talking about the paper temp plate from July that is missing? It probably was ripped off or melted away with all that dirt thats washed up on the car now.

I've had really good experiences buying ICE cars from there in great condition after minor damage like a hail storm. There are some deals to be had.

I am entertaining this idea. Not sure how easy it is to sell given its all computerized?

Clean shiny salvage Tesla, should I buy this? - Noob question

The cleaner car photo is just when the car came in. The temp plates are still on it and in later photos it was ripped off. The Copart yards are really dirty. As Kirby64 stated, the stickers are the same lot number on the car.

Wow, just no winning on this front. Ugh, sure don't want to drive 11 hours to go see the car.

Absolutely agree, I'm not touching a flood damaged car. The carpets look clean and insurance companies don't clean their cars before auction - thus didn't feel it was flood damaged. I agree it won't sell really cheap, but a $20k salvage car feels better than a $50k new car?

Clean shiny salvage Tesla, should I buy this? - Noob question

It's hard to know why it's salvaged. I don't suspect it is a flood as it was first registered in MD, which has a low flooding risk I would have thought if it was the battery or drive unit, then Tesla would have originally covered it under their warranty and it wouldn't have been salvaged.

Also, it is being sold by an insurance company that does give me some hope that its not a third party shill and it'll be stripped when I pick it up.

Dear TMC, I hope y'all can lend your expertise. I am looking to buy this salvage Tesla model 3: https://www.copart.com/lot/43338679 I understand that initially the updates may not work, but that can be fixed. Also that I cannot get supercharging, which I don't need. Finally, I understand that...
