HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Not dying on the side of the road, but getting false “degradation” concerns. If you drive 10% a day and charge 70-80 every night for a month, the BMS will show much less range. And yes, this happens often and you see it asked every day several times on the very forum. So the recommended regimen...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

If you follow the Tesla manual strictly you get an unbalanced BMS. First time discussing this issue?

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Thanks...For full disclosure, I'm very much up to speed on proper charging habits and balancing of BMS. I've was engaged and reading on this issue since 2018 (you might see some reddit threads from 6+ years ago from me, I wrote a lengthy tutorial on the issue)...I appreciate the tips, but let's...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

OK fair enough. But respectfully, I don't see how "babying the battery" was an issue here. I was just driving the car normally...the computer simply misjudged the range left and miscalculated that I could reach the supercharger in time. No bueno.
  9. gaspi101

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

I was on the highway doing 70, about 2 miles from the supercharger, no warnings. Then the car suddenly said "Car shutting down for insufficient charge, pull over safely," or something similar, and a repeating chime...on the 6% shut down I was able to coast with no acceleration at all (it was a...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Florida in August, so about 75F, and the road is always flat flat flat. Makes (or used to make) roadtrips very easy to plan. The energy graph was always perfectly reliable, and I would ensure to modulate driving speed to ensure to arrive at the SC with 5-10%. Recent roadtrips have been done...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Thanks, I appreciate the support. The 3 is stable at 270ish miles at 100% (just updated numbers in signature), which according to Tesla is normal degradation. I haven’t run the 3 below 10% since 2020 or so, when I did the last long roadtrip in that car. But this happened on the 2017 X100D, which...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Their BMS system is fantastic for prolonging battery health. Great. How about addressing the issue for which this thread was started: the car shuts off in the middle of the highway with significant battery range left on the dial and the energy screen. If the BMS simultaneously shows 6% on the...

  14. gaspi101

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Ok I have a bone to pick with the Tesla apologists here. If we are driving the car as recommended and charging as recommended, it is absolutely unforgivable to have a system that tells you you have 6% battery left and then suddenly die on the highway. I’d like to think I’m a highly-tech saavy...

Model S shut down at 32 miles, leaving me stranded - why?

My X died on the highway this weekend, same situation, had 3% at time of shut off, .8 miles from supercharger…it’s now in SC for diagnostics…what ended up happening with yours?

How long can it sit at 100%

Thanks brother, good way to look at it. I’ve tried everything there is to try, I think, including running the battery to less than 10%, letting it sit for 8 hours, and then charging to 100%, and letting it sit for an hour before driving. I’m never getting above 270. Service Center did a BMS...

How long can it sit at 100%

Yeah thanks. It’s a 2018 P3D so no LFP batteries…haven’t seen any range impact yet but after losing 40 mile in the first 20k miles, I’m a little skiddish

How long can it sit at 100%

I always have my charging slider set to 85%. Always. Charged the car sunday afternoon, didn’t go out Monday, today Tuesday got in the car and it was at 100%. The app has the slider at 100%. It’s clearly been sitting at 100% for two days, I’m so pissed off. Anyone have this bug happen to them? I...

Unable to disable sentry mode at home

Problem solved. it was not Tesla’s fault at all. Teslafi apparently had an option to “enable sentry mode at untagged locations,” and fo some reason they did some update that untagged my home as a designated location, ergo, Teslafi was enabling sentry mode in both Teslas. mea culpa. thanks...

If you can drive on autopilot most of the time, it's pretty easy to get and keep a high safety score. You don't get dinged when autopilot makes sudden stops or turns.

Unable to disable sentry mode at home

Howdy all...I'm unable to disable sentry mode while at home, for some reason. After years of the feature working perfectly at home, both the Model X and the Model 3 started enabling sentry mode while in the garage, every time. This started happening about a month ago. If you enter the car in...

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

This is exactly right!! Interestingly enough, I've found that autopilot works the absolute best on roads similar in construction and design to southern california! There's a reason for that!

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

It most definitely depends on the roads and circumstances...On the most recent update, I drive from home to work and back on complete FSD with usually no phantom breaking of any kind. But this weekend we took a roadtrip to Key West and the phantom breaking on a straight road with no...

    acceleration SHUDDER

This should not be the case. The acceleration shudder on Model X is well known and there is a TSB on the issue: Tesla Has New Service Bulletin On Model S/X Acceleration Shudder Tesla service should replace the half-shafts, and if it ever comes back, it should be covered as a recurring...

Is it possible to use the Tesla 2020 Roadster as a daily driver ?

Kicked out of the FSD Beta! (Long Post)

Kicked out of the FSD Beta! (Long Post)

You want to quibble over a few months? From what I read online, FSD was available for purchase since at least October of 2016. We are in January 2022. Do you still drive the same car you drove in 2016? Do you know anyone else that does?

Kicked out of the FSD Beta! (Long Post)

$3k but you had to buy AP as a $5k option, so $8k, plus a modest cost of investment of 5% per annum, you’re looking at $10,400. For a computer swap. And also, no, Radar, cameras and MCU have not been replaced for free as part of FSD…sorry, you say that ain’t bad, I say it is. Few people hold on...

Does exceeding 80mph or unbuckling seatbelt count against FSD?

I just received my first FSD strike after sitting in line waiting for a Covid test. It was a dirt road where I did not intend to use auto pilot at all. It was a long line of cars inching along for approximately two hours. I would Simply stop the car by pressing the brake, and then wait, and the...

    FSD Beta Revocation

What is “at least one strike per 5km” mean? If it’s only one strike, how are they measuring the distance? Wouldn’t you need two strikes within in particular distance for the sentence to make any sense? Does it mean two strikes within a 10 km distance? I don’t get it, perhaps I am not reading...

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

No, I am able to steer the car perfectly fine with one hand. I am shocked by the number of people that find it to be a sacrilege to the safety gods when someone steers the car with one hand in a straight line. I have to believe they are either new/very inexperienced drivers, or simply...

    V11 questions

If you tap the home link button while on reverse, the camera disappears, only to be replaced by the Car Menu, where the home link screen asks you to press again, and only then does it activate. Does it activate for you automatically from the screen showing the backup camera while in reverse???

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

Incredibly, I am able to do more than one thing at a time. The shakiness of the video is because I was only looking at the road, holding the steering wheel and applying pressure to the accelerator. Reasonable minds may differ, I suppose, thanks for the tip.

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

good tips! Unfortunately, it seems route navigation is entirely separate from the gps data feeding speed limit info to the car…it still responds to changes in speed limits.

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

Is there a way to disable the whole GPS/navigation system and still use regular AP with TACC? At this point, I’m really nostalgic for a 2016-era AP system for the highway.

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

Exactly! I don’t understand why a GPS point is the only data autopilot uses to make such sudden maneuvers. until they fix this issue, why is it not possible to have an option to never have the car automatically decelerate if it detects a speed limit change. Maybe just beep saying that the speed...

    Dangerous Freeway Autopilot Slowdown

this is a common argument on this board, I don’t get it. Talking about it on a forum is not mutually exclusive to lodging a formal service ticket and maybe writing directly to Tesla, both of which I will do. As a consumer, I’m not sure I can do much more, short of litigating, and I’m not...
