    Model 3 for commuting

Phantom braking is less of an issue now. Eap is not worth the 6 k. I would say so having purchased it 😫. Also not crazy about the 20 inch rims on the performance model if you have potholes on your route.

Traction, stability, power steering, auto hold - ALL DEAD after frigid morning.

I have had abs stability and traction control disabled because a sensor was covered with snow on a bmw and a Hyundai.in both cases the system's returned to normal when the snow cleared. No Impact on steering and I haven't experienced this in my Tesla.

Did you have cruise control on? Cruise control seems to enable automatic setting on the wipers

Recommendation on tires for model 3 long range

What is most important? Snow traction? Michelin cross climate2 seems best all weather option if you don't want dedicated snow tires (which is technically the ideal winter option and swapping out for summer tires after snow season) High performance with some snow performance ? Michelin ps4 Al...

$3500 price difference for Model 3 Long Range AWD vs Performance. Which one should I go with?

Me, for that delta I would pick the performance model. I would definitely change to 18 inch rims as potholes love 20's. I have the lr awd with boost. I wouldn't be eligible for the nj rebate when I purchased which drove my decision which I am happy with. Not that big a difference in acceleration

Thanks for the thorough reply. The rain improvement is of immediate concern.but the snow will become important soon.

    Tesla Tires at Costco

Have you driven them in snow? Also any reduction in efficiency ? I have the stock mxm tires which are terrible in the wet at 20k miles. Thanks!

Stumped! How Do I lock the Windows ?

I cut a piece of cardboard to approximately fit the opening. My dog has learned to open the windows and is rather territorial about people approaching the car. Thank goodness for Tesla not requiring a gas station.

To ceramic coat or not to ceramic coat?

You can self apply ceramic coating if you wish. There are off the shelf to semi pro options.
  11. DwightKSchrute

    Should I get white interior?

You can ceramic coat the seats yourself fwiw (and the exterior) The dirt comes off easily so don't worry about the white interior.

    Selling after 5k NJ rebate

I would look at the terms of the agreement. I do recall that if you don’t live up to the three-year obligation the state gets back a pro rata share of the amount. One thing to note is that this would also apply if you moved out of state, so there is some relevance to the question to all to all...

Your window crack looks like an extended version of my window crack. Tesla repaired my window under warranty

    Paramus NJ roof collapse

I was just there. The roof collapsed (I think entire roof) and the pressure blew out the front showroom window by Route 17. No injuries (thankfully). This was caused by Hurricane Ida - about 6 inches of total rain and 3 inches in 1 hour. Drainage overwhelmed the roof, and water's pretty heavy...

Stress crack or impact crack? Rear glass

To add to this thread, I found a crack on the back window on the side Anyone else see something like this? Any luck getting Tesla to repair the defect? Nothing hit it in my case as this is the back of the car

Vendor Personalize your Tesla with a puddle light upgrade

Don't recall where I got them, but the stock puddle and trunk lights are rather dim. I haven't done the footwell lights, yet. Easy to replace

Have had my model 3 for a month and a half [owner review]

My opinion is that the smart cruise control works well in traffic. Including stop and go traffic. the Tesla will also warn you when you drift out of the lane without cruise on
  22. DwightKSchrute

Have had my model 3 for a month and a half [owner review]

Lane keep assist (w/o autopilot) will let you know that you have drifted out or changed lanes without signalling. I don't think it's any more intrusive than other cars. One REAL benefit of driving with autopilot is that traffic is so much less stressful, as the car will manage the flow in...

    Should I get white interior?

I have white interior and a black dog who loves mud. No stains in over a year. I did self coat with a ceramic coating and only need to wipe it off after she's out

Tesla Model 3 Acceleration Software Limited? [model 3P]

There's a whole thread on acceleration boost that will get more attention. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/5702178/ There is both the acceleration boost option and a third party option to improve acceleration.

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

If you change your driving behavior (more aggressive acceleration), then yes, this will impact your range/efficiency. If you do not change behavior materially, your efficiency should stay roughly the same.

Model Y Perf or BMW X3M?

BMWs also can have fake leather. And CarPlay was a paid option for a while. We have had 4 bmws in our family. I have found that desirable features need very expensive option packages. everyone will have their own opinion
  28. DwightKSchrute

Model Y Perf or BMW X3M?

FWIW, the white interior shows dirt very easily, but cleans equally easy. The biggest issue with the Tesla is that the fit and finish are not perfect. I have a few paint defects, and the alignment is not perfect of the doors and fenders, etc. It's a very low key interior, but very usable...

Got my Model 3 today: some noob questions

Make sure you ventilation is fresh air not recirculation. I found that caused the condensation Also get a service appointment about the blocked cameras. Make sure they read the error codes first

Model Y test-drive experience (not a current Tesla owner)

Autopilot is most useful in traffic and on long trips. Good luck with your decision
  31. DwightKSchrute

Model Y test-drive experience (not a current Tesla owner)

Did you try autopilot? And if so how does it compare? I find that is helpful on long trips. I have a 3 and it has plenty of space. The y would be even better with the hatch the paint quality is iffy and the panel/door alignment is not perfect. the driving experience more than makes up for it...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Fwiw I went back and forth between the 3p and the lr awd. At the end, I didn't want the hassle of swapping the rims as there are too many potholes by me to run on 20s. I would have chosen the stealth if it was available. I got the boost and love it. Not quite as fast as m3p but faster than...

Is it possible to buy enhanced autopilot?

Tesla offered it the end of the third quarter last year to boost earnings Good for highway trips and traffic. They may do that again at some time in the future but no guarantee when

    New Noob Owner- Necessary accessories?

I got a matte protector because I get a lot of glare getting out of my garage and the normal screen is very reflective. Try driving a bit before you buy one.

Occasional Error Code from M3 - Driver pillar camera blocked

Got mobile repair on Saturday and they replaced the driver side window molding (separate issue for wind noise), and the driver side b pillar camera. So far no faults but haven't driven a lot this weekend. I also changed ventilation to fresh air which may avoid condensation. The wind noise is...

Congratulations to your son. And you for surviving teaching him
  38. DwightKSchrute

Occasional Error Code from M3 - Driver pillar camera blocked

Update. I drive this am and got the fault on both sides. The big problem is that this disables enhanced autopilot. so if Tesla cannot fix this I want the eap $ back. Elon's dream of self driving taxis remains that and glad I don't have fsd.

Occasional Error Code from M3 - Driver pillar camera blocked

You have my exact car (same delivery time, etc). I brought it in today for "in person" service because there's a wind noise from the driver's window, and they confirmed that the seal was not perfect. They also noted that the flaw was on both sides, and ordered the left and right camera. Mobile...

Occasional Error Code from M3 - Driver pillar camera blocked

I've had a periodic issue with my model 3 - an error code that the drivers side pillar is obstructed and I can't use autopilot. It has happened on both sides. I did contact Tesla and set up a mobile appointment. They replaced the fender camera (and left a gap) and the error came back the first...

NJ Driver's License Road Test using Model 3?

Joseph used the backup and side camera on his test. To be honest the Tesla is the only car he feels safe driving. As long as I set the speed and lock it in chill mode, I do too

NJ Driver's License Road Test using Model 3?

My son took the model 3 for the New Jersey road test. And passed Just be sure he knows how the parking brake works. and he used the backup cameras. We took the test in Lodi Just don't use electronic aids like auto parking

    So Tired of Curb Rash!

Well, two options for those of us who are not perfect drivers (there's a third - use all available technology including your eyes). 1) you can get a paint (from Amazon) that can paint over the curb rash. Not perfect, but close repair 2) you can put on Rimsavers (or the equivalent) that provides...

Considering Selling my F-150 Raptor for Model 3 Performance

I'm about half your size (in weight) so can't comment on the comfort. However what I would suggest is to rent a model 3 on Turo for a weekend or more. That's the best way to see if it's a fit. The acceleration in the m3p or lr awd w/boost is more than enough That's how I tried it out for my...
