A few months ago, my 17yr old gave me a soft ultimatum of sorts for his birthday present. He was quite insistent on either a 3 series, preferably M40i, or the Nissan Z (which is a a little harder to come by without dealer markups still to this day). Fortunately, he wasn’t as picky with the...
Early V11 was indeed total shite. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of comments and feedback helped to steer the subsequent updates back to being more acceptable.
Does matter. Signaling before entering a tight rotary when you intend to stay on and exit off the 3rd of 4 exits will confuse a lot of people. Better to start signaling while in the rotary going counter-clockwise (wheel turned) right after the 2nd exit passes and before the 3rd exit arrives so...
I'm very happy with the green light chime. It seems to work 99% of the time when I'm the one at front of the light and maybe ~95% of the time when there are car(s) ahead of me. Very high success rate. All failures that I can remember were circumstantial/explainable in nature.
Probably not. You may or may not be encountering the familiar software update pattern of: giveth / taketh away / giveth but worseth / taketh backeth away again. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Meanwhile, feel free to distract yourself and passengers with farts, customizing the color of the...
I actually like the gear change chime because I have the issue where the car doesn't go from Park to Drive all the time as intended, so the chime is a nice confirmation. I also have Joe mode on so maybe the chime volume is softer for me than the default.
Do you think it has anything to do with having your left turn signal on and the car thinking that you'll turn onto the curb imminently or something?
Isn't it wonderful being a participant on the forefront of half-baked technological advancement?
Given the weight of car compared to other smallish ICE sedans of similar class, I think comparing # of tire changes as part of maintenance would relevant, though I'm assuming you got rid of your runflats on your BMW since those don't last very long?
Is it possible that it has more to do with the phone being in front of you (i.e., facing the car) when you unlock it rather than the actual unlocking? I usually have my phone in my back pocket. It's pretty hit or miss with unlocking the car (usually miss) when the phone is in my back pocket vs...
They shouldn't have gotten rid of USS until the alternative could be at least as reliable as USS then. All the "fuss" from customers makes sense to me. Tesla ****ed up with their order of operations. Why try to rationalize it?
Remember this well when newer owners in the not to distant future will not have the luxury of using a physical stalk and will instead be trying to "press" on the right spot on a capacitive pad somewhere on the steering wheel to turn off the turn signal when the auto-off fails.
Do the newer...
One "invisible" thing they should really fix with this refresh is whatever it is in the A/C system design that makes the interior smell like damp dead cats. I gave a colleague a ride last week and I forgot to "prep" the interior by turning on the climate remotely ahead of time to blast away the...
If I wanted an EV with more trunk space, I would seriously be considering the Polestar 3 when it comes out instead. Model Y is ugly AF and even more apparently so if compared to the Polestar. Worth the price difference.
Mine seems borked as well. I've been comparing Google Maps routes from my phone vs the car over the last two days by entering various random destinations. Most of the time, the Google option seemed to make more sense. I'm also actually surprised the routes were different so often as my...
Found the post from a while back where I had initially replied about this experience. To clarify, it's about failure to turn on, not confusion over how to cancel (relatively more people appear to have confusion over how to turn off, which is a completely separate thing and more to do about not...
I’ve never had any stalk failures ever in 20+ years of driving in any vehicle.. oh except in the Tesla. Failed turn signal commands and multiple attempts needed to go from Park to Drive occur pretty regularly for me unfortunately, and the former has been brought up others in at least a few other...
People who have this issue should keep posting videos. It's good to get it out in the open. It's another craptastic part that doesn't seem it should be failing as early as it should.
I have a couple of tips to consider:
1. Steering wheel - Have you tried setting your "Easy Entry" mode such that the steering wheel tilts up all the way? That may help with avoiding scratches when entering and leaving.
2. Floor mats - Invest in a nice set like Maxpider, Tuxmat, or other...
I sometimes wonder if Tesla will be forced to make some significant redesigns sooner than they’d like due to increasing competition and variety of EVs. There are some increasingly interesting designs coming out from legacy manufacturers.
😄 I appreciate the long term update on this. I guess you also fill us in on how long each puck lasts and whether it's been consistent. It's weird/unfortunate that you can't just get refills.
I've been vocal about the shortcomings of V11 and of the areas that have been worse than V10. I've also recognized some of the fixes that subsequent updates have trickled in. But it's interesting to see other manufacturers coming into similar issues as well. In BMW's latest iDrive 8, I just...
There is hope coming!! The level of complaints must've done some good..
With Tesla update 2022-12 you can add seat heaters, wipers and more to the launcher
