FSD Beta Attempts to Kill Me; Causes Accident

Right! After all, you are still the driver. The ADAS is just providing assistance right now.

FSD Beta Attempts to Kill Me; Causes Accident

Interestingly, if this had happened in the UK the governing body (DVSA) which handles safety reports likely wouldn't accept it as a defect. In the eyes of the DVSA, it's an assistance feature aimed to assist the driver, the driver is still in control of the vehicle at all times. I wonder if...

FSD Beta Attempts to Kill Me; Causes Accident

This is a really good point. A LOT of people look at individual cases and judge everyone's experience based on that. It's always good to remember that positive content is boring content. Someone posting a video of FSD Beta working flawlessly for hours would get a handful of views on YouTube...

FSD Beta Attempts to Kill Me; Causes Accident

It's a really good idea to do some spirited driving in your car to learn the limits and how to handle it in an emergency! Otherwise, it's extremely easy to over-correct and not know how to correct for that.

    2019 Model 3 headlight alignment

Someone on Reddit just figured out pretty much exactly what causes the issues I described! See their post here: I'll copy the text here though: "Regarding your headlights moving: I know the answer to this!! I'm in Australia with a 2020 3LR. We have basically the same build as the UK. It was...

    2019 Model 3 headlight alignment

Another update: It seems like each day I drive they're adjusting upwards slightly. They're now just shy of how I'd set them manually in the past. I suppose this is the 'Adjust based on your driving style'? I wonder what it's adjusting them based on...?

How are 2021+ Model S (aka Palladium) headlights vs other Teslas

I'd honestly expect to see a new headight design at some point, to match the matrix LED fitted on the 3/Y. Likely using up old stock or having issues with gettng a new headlight design in place due to chip shortage. Who knows. :)

    Headlights adjusted unexpectedly?

Sorry to raise an old post, buttttt... I can confirm the same. :) Headlight alignment seems to randomly change after running the manual headlight alignment as they were only shining maybe 1 car length ahead, making it next to impossible to drive at speed and see any kind of road debris that...

    21 SR+ headlight too bright?

A bigggggg warning here as well: When adjusting the headlights manually the new alignment doesn't always save and will randomly revert back to what it was or something completely different. Tesla Service told me when aligning my headlights that they 'adjust based on your driving style', maybe...

    2019 Model 3 headlight alignment

See that bridge ahead? Wait... What bridge? Ohhh, that bridge! :) Is this anything like what yours was like? I think it'd be less insulting if the auto high beam didn't turn off for literally everything. It's like you're happily driving along, then suddenly blind because a retroreflective...

    2019 Model 3 headlight alignment

EXACTLY this! In my case, I re-ran the alignment to make the headlights more level, ensuring they'd be below other people's mirrors still. If I ran this on my sloped driving, getting out and back in on flat ground made them point upwards, then if I ran it on flat ground, they'd be pointing down...

    2019 Model 3 headlight alignment

Hi everyone, I wanted to check with others from the UK with a pre-refresh (No Matrix) Model 3 how their headlights are performing. My car is a 2019 Model 3 Performance, picked up in November 2019. I'd been having some issues with mine where I'd be parked on my sloped driveway, press the brake...

Supercharging an American Tesla in Europe

Sorry, worded it wrong, I mean outside of home charging I only use Superchargers. Charging at stores is usually impractical as you gain so little charge in the maybe 30 minutes you're in a store for. I run down to 20% and charge back to 90% at home to avoid too much degradation. :)
  15. C

Supercharging an American Tesla in Europe

Ahhh, that's a good point! I totally forgot about AC charging at actual chargers, at least here in the UK, you're never really charge at anything but a Supercharger as they're so common. I think we can get 22kw max out of AC, limited by the onboard charger in the Model 3.

Supercharging an American Tesla in Europe

As much as people are talking about 3 phase, do remember that the large majority of EU housing isn't 3 phase! It can sometimes be installed after, but it doesn't come with new housing as it's usually not needed. I don't see a clear reason why the Tesla mobile charger wouldn't work, you can...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Though, having said that, vOld FSD was at a point where training wasn't making massive changes. It's very likely the re-write will release in a funky state and in the coming weeks/months it'll rapidly improve, especially with the additional data it'll be working with due to using all cameras...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Of course, but it feels right now like the UNECE regulations are being followed by the EU mainly and ignored by most of the rest of the world, so I could see the UK moving away from them if they didn't change!
  19. C

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Having said that, the UK is still within the EU for now and we might be getting hands-off self driving as early as next year for use on highways only. :)

I'm sure they need a UK tester, right? I'm always happy to help out. ;)

    2020.40.x

Maybe so. I've been able to vent the windows since I got my Model 3 a year ago, that's why it confused me so much. It does vent all the windows currently, but it just opens them slightly and I use the same function to close them again. Hoping we can open them further, that'd be great, the...
  22. C

    2020.40.x

In your picture it shows 'Vent Windows' as a new feature, was this not possible before? Or maybe it means you can fully open the windows instead of just opening them slightly from the app?
  23. C

    2020.40.x

I wish we had that so much. In mainland Europe a lot of countries have the speed limit change between 70 and 80 mph say for corners in the road or sometimes hills. They also have speed limit signs that only apply to certain vehicles and ones that only apply when it's raining, to confuse things...

    2020.40.x

So relatable. I get in the car with my dad, I'm in the driver's seat but it connects to his phone and switches to his profile, drives me insane. :p
  25. C

    2020.40.x

It's not exactly the same actually! Previously, the speed limit sign detection was for 'local roads', meaning it was disabled on highways. Very obvious here in the UK where highways have variable speed limits and sometimes towards the ends of them a very large and obvious speed limit sign which...

Backup Cam doesn't adjust exposure for night?

It's strange that the camera issue seems to exist mainly on S/X vehicles but 3/Y are on the same firmware and don't have the same issue, I wonder if they use different cameras so have different control?

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

It's cool to get so excited about updates though! Makes the car never really get old. :)
  28. C

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

100% due to speed signs, the max speed limit is changed as the car passes the sign, causing it so suddenly brake to match the new speed limit. :) Say you're in a national speed limit and set to 65 (relative +5 setting), hitting a 30 lowers it to 35 and the car rather quickly slows down. I'm not...
  29. C

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

Outside of motorways, it'll slow down if the speed limit lowers, but as it did before, it won't speed up automatically unless you tap somewhere on the speedometer. :) But as I said on my post, on motorways, it's ignoring speed limit signs entirely right now.
  30. C

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

Aware of that, but it's never been right in any of my local area. Around my area they changed a lot of national speed limits down to 50's and 40's, but this has never been reflected until now. :)
  31. C

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

Honestly, the speed limit sign detection is seriously impressive. I've not had it miss a single sign so far, even when they're half in a hedge as most are here. I feel like a bad driver now as it sees every sign and I only notice maybe 2 or 3 of them. I just see them appear on the display...
  32. C

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

After testing, I can say with very high certainty that speed limit signs are just ignored on none 'local roads', motorways. There's a super obvious and huge 50 sign near me towards where a motorway ends and it's totally ignored, but the tiny 40 signs after leaving the highway, and an identical...

    2020.36.3.1 Release notes

I imagine it'll be like the experience with the traffic light and stop sign recognition! Initially it kind of sucked, didn't detect some lights and didn't detect others correctly, but now it works extremely well. Messing up speed limit signs on a motorway could be pretty bad, imagine it...

    [UK] 2020.32.x

Same here, AP has got a lot better at slowing down for corners, but really it should also slow down when it's not sure what's over a crest or around a corner. :) Let's all hope this 'quantum leap' is as good as Elon says it is!

Help with Model 3 Headlights Adjustment Settings

Also worth noting headlights in Europe are required to have auto-leveling now, thus requiring the motor like every other European car already has, though it doesn't seem Tesla has this functionality in the software yet. :) Headlight regulations are far stricter in Europe than in the US, the...

Help with Model 3 Headlights Adjustment Settings

That's really interesting! I mean... I never looked at the manual because... Well, you assume it'd come with that as the default position when sold in Europe...? ;) Very useful info though, much appereciated! Guess I gotta' find a car park and a tape measure! I'm just glad I'm not going crazy...

Help with Model 3 Headlights Adjustment Settings

Yeah, exactly. What I think the most common cause of the issues we see is a difference between US and EU headlight alignment. It's possible in the US, which has many high vehicles such as SUVs, pickup trucks, etc. that a perfectly aligned headlight is one facing perfectly straight forward. In...

Help with Model 3 Headlights Adjustment Settings

It seems like in the UK our beams are way off from the factory, it seems to be extremely common here. Funnily enough, the beams are 'level', as the American's described previously in this post. I guess in Europe they're supposed to point down a bit? Not really sure, need to book mine in for a...

    [UK] 2020.28.x

Oh yeah, totally. I get the idea behind the regulations, but I think companies should be able to prove that their system doesn't need to have the regulations imposed on it. Think like getting a provisional license where you can drive in a limited capacity but proving you can drive in a driving...

    [UK] 2020.28.x

Thanks for the clarification! I couldn't remember if it was EU or something from the UN that the EU was following. Just hoping Tesla can bother them enough to get the regulations changed, they put you in more danger than they help avoid at the moment. Limiting g-forces and steering angle sounds...
  42. C

    [UK] 2020.28.x

Do remember Tesla can't fix the issues in Europe! It's the way it is due to restrictions the EU have placed on 'Advanced driver assist systems' such as Autopilot. Tesla is constantly battling the EU to make them change their crazy regulations, but until then, nothing can change really! Lane...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Oof... At highway speeds I get around 310wh/mi with my M3P, 20" wheels. Usually have climate control on though, even in summer you need heat in the UK. :)
  44. C

If you have the phone in a back pocket, try leaning so your back pocket is towards the mirror, that's where the antenna is. Or, try unlocking your phone. Some Android devices go into a battery saving mode and Bluetooth doesn't work in that state for the phone key. :) I used to have a bunch of...

It doesn't really have any blindspots, but, it doesn't currently make use of all the cameras. The blind spot you're talking about is because the forward-facing B-pillar cameras aren't really used right now. If I recall, currently used is: Forward narrow FOV, forward normal FOV, forward wide FOV...

AutoPilot dangerously veering back into overtaking lane midway through moving back into middle lane

I'm honestly surprised it's lasted this long! Maybe because we all got used to it and avoid it no one is putting in bug reports for it anymore. o_O
  48. C

    [UK] 2020.28.x

I think the issue is more that the cameras aren't designed to be used for this in the first place. I'm not sure the locations of the cameras would give a good 360 degree view, and their resolution is lower because the onboard computer for Autopilot can't really work with high resolution images...

    [UK] 2020.28.x

Same release notes as 2020.28.2 on my UK M3P, likely just bug fixes. :( It sucks that we haven't really got any Autopilot functionality added properly since navigate on Autopilot. Smart summon is so restricted that it's useless, and we haven't got any of the stop sign/traffic signal control...
