    Battery Health Test missing

Are you running a recent software version on the car or did the previous owner stop updating the software a long time ago? What software version are you running?
  2. G

Does the AC on affect the heat dissipation efficiency of track mode in summer?

The AC is probably running already anyway to cool the battery so I don't think you'll add much power draw. In theory you might prevent the battery from cooling properly but I think the car's software will prioritize battery cooling anyway so you might not get that much AC in the cabin :) Let's...

Acceleration Boost option - trial? Feedback?

Whether it's worth it or not is totally up to the driver, we can't tell if it's worth it for you. I have paid for it on my LR AWD model 3 and I love it. Sure I would have preferred to pay less but the power is definitely there, at all speeds. It's the same thing for the performance model vs...

"Setting cabin temperature to 72°F would have saved 2.4 miles" when climate consumed 0.3 miles

There was another thread about this a while back, soon after the appearance of this dashboard. Unfortunately I don't remember the outcome. It does look like a bug, and I've had it sometimes too.

Why The Discrepancy In Wh/mi Between My Car And The App?

The trip computer only reports energy spent in Drive. There is energy spent in Park for various reasons and that's not included. Charge stats should show all the energy that was put into the battery. That means it has to cover for all spending.

    App vs Car Charging Discrepancy

I think the real answer is that ~0.5kW doesn't matter much, it's too small, so they round. It doesn't really matter much in what direction since it's small. It is an annoyance at best.

Model 3 Performance Braking System Issues

I don't have the answer unfortunately but I will say this: when you work on the rear brakes, even after disabling the parking brake in the UI, unplug the wire that goes to the caliper. That way even if the car decides to reapply the parking brake while you work, nothing will happen. Much safer...

    21 Model Y 12 volt Battery Quits

Anually! In many cases you're just throwing away a good part and polluting for no reason. As we can see, deterioration varies a lot depending on the conditions. Mine lasted 4.5 years and I have winters which are normally very hard on those batteries. EDIT: I was lucky enough to get one weird...

    No AC when parked

When they say debris/dirt clogged the radiator, I believe they're talking about the exterior, not the coolant and interior. It's pretty well known that the front radiator gets dirty after a while, it's probably due to the angle at which it's installed... You can get the radiator cleaned, some...

    Non random battery drain

That's it, it's not "a problem" that the SOC fluctuates a bit. State of charge is an estimate, not a precise measure. It will change a bit as the BMS adjusts/recalculates/works its magic. Battery temperature is one of the things that can affect that value that's all.

Heads up display stopped working after last software update

It IS weird that CAN bus messages are moved like that, it's not typical because cars are normally "stagnant" after you buy them. This is not a car though, it's a computer on wheels where everything can change. This only works because software updates push an update to each and every component of...
  13. G

Heads up display stopped working after last software update

Yeah... and here, it's the equivalent of having called an internal/private api and complaining that it was changed and doesn't work anymore. The CAN bus messages are not a public API, this is reverse-engineering / hacking. We should just be happy that it works most of the times :)
  14. G

Tesla software update bricked my car

I would add that "software update bricked my car" might not actually be the case. I've seen so many people falsely correlate an update to a problem they have to just believe it when I hear it. You have a problem and it needs to be investigated. It might be the update, but it might not.

    21 Model Y 12 volt Battery Quits

My car started giving a few weird errors about low voltage on some controler. Service mode said my 12V was healthy but I replaced it anyway at that point. I am not getting the low voltage errors anymore. I did not get the official warning to replace the 12V. Mine is a 2020 and I live in a place...

Heads up display stopped working after last software update

Tesla have changed the meaning of can bus messages in the past. The information is still there but on another "channel". The Tesla firmware knows about it and all is fine. 3rd party apps that reverse-engineered what information is on what channel will fail until they get a software update of...

Bricked vehicle after a failed install

remove the trunk trim/rug on that side so you can see the port assembly from the back. You should be able to locate a small cable somewhere. Just be gentle when pulling, I believe I've heard of people breaking it.

    drifting/donuts possible in rwd?

Slip start won't do what you want. It enables a little bit of slipping but if you turn the steering wheel everything will stop as you still have some traction and a lot of stability control. There are a couple of options for you. One is to unplug an ABS sensor on a wheel, that will disable...

Model 3 disabling Traction Control, ABS, etc.

regarding "as the electric brake actuators are very difficult to modulate without ABS"... as far as I know the brakes are hydraulic like in any other car. The electric actuators on the rear are only there to put the "parking brake" on.

    2024 M3P EPA est milage

The speed limit is a maximum, not a minimum. You're allowed to go slower if you want. I understand not wanting to, but it is an option. I always find these comments funny. You choose to go faster but it's a choice, and you can slow down if you need the range.

Charge door no longer opening on tap

have you rebooted the car once to see if it helps?
  22. G

Charge door no longer opening on tap

when you say "tap"... You actually need to press a bit and then let go, ideally towards the bottom of the cover
  23. G

Charge door no longer opening on tap

Is your car locked? Sometimes the phone is in your pocket and just a tad bit too far for the car to detect it. Just to play safe, I always open the rear car door before opening the charge trap, which unlocks the car.
  24. G

Who else STILL has issues with dashcam/sentry drive not detected? Been a problem for over a year, and Tesla keeps saying an SW update will fix it.

Have you connected anything else in any port? Maybe you have a "splitter/hub"? You should remove all those. Have you tried another device, either another good quality stick or an SSD?

How do the dual motor work

At least on the model 3 and Y, yes.
  26. G

    Speed vs efficiency data

You work your right foot precisely using the regen/power bar to be at zero power :) You can also set your car to Neutral but I wouldn't recommend that as you will have no power if you ever need it in an emergency.

With the cuts, is mobile service gone?

Had mobile service last Friday. Still present.
  28. G

    Speed vs efficiency data

no speed is 100% depends on the driver, the weather, the tires etc, don't take that too directly.
  29. G

    Speed vs efficiency data

Your graph looks good and is representative. Mine doesn't work because of winter that scraps my range so it's mostly flat bad at 75% all over the place :)
  30. G

replacement 12V batteries for 2018 M3: OEM or 3rd party "group 51r" ok?

Just got mine replaced by Tesla last Friday for around 160$CAD in my driveway, in 15 minutes. Out of warranty but I find the price very reasonable. The tech even checked all recent errors just in case.

Heat pump(?) continues to run until a door is opened and closed?

After the AC was used, during a drive, the car will continue to run the fan for a while to dry the evaporator and prevent bad odors. Opening/closing the door stops that but it would probably be preferrable to let it run.

    Poor Premium Connectivity performance

If you lose your phone call, it's your cell phone losing its connection, not the car... In a phone call your phone makes the call and audio is sent to your car through Bluetooth. If your phone loses lte, the car might lose it too and that would be a coverage issue. Yes, in that case audio...

    Poor Premium Connectivity performance

What do you mean by "I often can't connect" ? The car connects to the LTE network by itself. Do you mean that you see the car losing its LTE connection?

    Wish List Item: Weather Radar

In the meantime, try windy.com in the car's browser. I use that anytime I need to know about winds (on my cellphone), but it has a lot of layers of interesting information.

    Acceleration Boost at High Speeds

Peak power is reduced when the battery is cooler than optimal (say under 25-30C) and is also reduced when your state of charge gets lower. To get maximum power you'll need to be around 90% SOC. Since peak power output doesn't happen until 65km/h or so, you won't feel the difference below that...

What happened to acceleration and regen bar in 2024.14.6?

You're right, service mode is now available but it overloads everything and isn't meant for normal driving. I mean like many software applications on our computers: two interfaces, basic and advanced, that you can use all the time.
  39. G

What happened to acceleration and regen bar in 2024.14.6?

I think that's right and we can feel it in many areas of the UI. We could get a lot more information during charging for example: battery temperature, what is derating the charging rate etc... but Tesla seem to want to keep it so simple that's it's "just like an ICE". What might work is getting...

TACC doesn't work correctly after the 2024.14.8 update

You obviously do what you want. However, "I've tried it 4 years ago" might not be the best stance with frequent updates. Things can change, hopefully for the better, although sometimes for worse as you indicate now for TACC. It might be good to retry things once in a while to see if they got any...

TACC doesn't work correctly after the 2024.14.8 update

You can leave it on autopilot (basic) and require two pulls to activate autopilot. In that case, a single pull will activate TACC as you want. That's how I've always been configured and I use TACC often.

How to know what software your car should have

Well, if you go in the car's software page and do a check for updates, that will tell you what software version the car should have. If there are no udpates available, you're up to date... according to what Tesla decided your car should get as someone else pointed out.

    Amtrak Auto Train

You can try leaving your card on the console at home and see if it affects sleeping. I would think not. Are you sure it will be left exactly where it needs to be put to get the car to drive? Because leaving it in the cupholders would be a different thing. The car should be reachable if it has...

    Please explain software branches

In software development, concepts related to code repositories are well understood, with Git being a popular one these days. This is where you store your code, it tracks all changes (history) etc. Along with your "main" source tree, you can create as many branches that fork out at any point and...

windshield wipers come on when I go into Cruise Control.

The "even on manual" is the weird part here. When you enable autopilot, it doesn't matter if you had the wipers on manual, they are going to auto automatically :) . If after that you change them back to manual and they still don't wipe, you have a serious problem that needs resolving ASAP. If on...

windshield wipers come on when I go into Cruise Control.

You can enter a service ticket but I believe it will get closed with a response in the likes of : we're working on the auto wipers functionality, we know it's got issues. It will be fixed in a future software update. What's random is the auto mode functionality, the "Deep rain AI" or whatever...

windshield wipers come on when I go into Cruise Control.

It was probably said before but Autopilot systematically sets the wipers to auto as soon as you activate it. You can immediately reset them to another mode if you want. You will need to do this every time. Maybe that's what caught you off guard? Once you know, it's easy (albeit annoying) to...

    Service Service Mode Service Notifications

I meant: if you get new errors, the old ones will eventually disappear :) but I am not wishing you new errors. I think you just need to let them be and forget them. It's a log, that's its job, remember past problems.
  50. G

    Service Service Mode Service Notifications

Get new errors? :) Seriously I think this lists the "n" latest errors and there are no clear buttons. Shouldn't cause any harm to leave them there.
