Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

When Tesla moved on to structural battery, I think that is a signal that the batteries are reliable enough and long lasting enough, that an owner would not have to worry about degradation or cell failures. It will still happen, just a super low probability event. Now, if we start doing V2H...

That's another problem with simpletons. They see things as either/or. Never thinks of "what if". It's amazing human civilization has lasted so long. LOL

I think just putting solar above all the roads will produce more than enough solar for the whole USA! Plus, it will be very distributed and provide cover for drivers from the rain and sun! Maybe even wireless EV charging from above. LOL

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Despite Recurrent thinking I should only have 258 miles range, my Tesla EPA range shows 264 miles at full... 272 when new. Just passed one year from purchase... might be a few months longer compared to mfg date. Update: Just checked my Recurrent web page, it shows 263 miles now. This closer...

A lot of the improvements that would make sense is being held back by private land ownership. It is too bad Detroit was not just taken over by the government to be bulldozed and rebuilt from scratch, with all the modern and futuristic infrastructure like geothermal heating and other such...

Many people think gasoline just flows down from the mountaintop, like water, so it must have a floor price of $0. LOL What I've learned in the age of internet is that even if something is free, it may not be worth your trouble (cost) to get it - see case of natural gas. The great thing with...

https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=62410 Fortunately, we at least have some renewable production. Otherwise, this feedback loop of "warming climate - more HVAC use - more electricity use - more fossil fuel use" would be more intense...

In colder regions with decent population density, it would probably be smarter to create district heating with ground sourced heatpump or even by just pumping fluid in a closed system to draw heat from deeper down.

There should be a way for businesses to pay for climate damage. But then, profits would be down then the complaint is why the business have to be responsible for the cost of their pollution when everyone has been fine subsidizing via property damage, health damage, etc for decades. Gut the...

Correction, I was going by MPG vs MPGe: When I actually ran the numbers for existing sedans and SUVs.. ICE: 1 gallon of gasoline (=33.4 kWh) to go 15 miles, so 2.23 kWh EV: 1 kWh goes 4-5 miles, so 0.2 to 0.3 kWh So ICE to EV in the city reduces energy use by 80-90% plus outputs less heat in...

Not really, the PCM materials does not have to be at the optimum temp. It could be the source of heat/cold for Heatpump, so you can avoid running on resistive heat. In the Tony Seba future, the utility will just charge us a flat grid fee and the energy is free. You still don't get it. The big question is "what if the whole world lived like the USA". China is burning all that coal for the benefit (and cost) to the res of the world that keeps buying stuff from China. As long as our demand outpaced China's ability add renewable, it is really our fault.

The PhD would say "that depends".
