  2. MPP Stoptech STR-60 Big Brake Kit (BBK) for Model 3

Reply to question by 'jmarcos' on the classified ad 'MPP Stoptech STR-60 Big Brake Kit (BBK) for Model 3'

I've had it for 19,000 miles, yet there's plenty of pad left (without the 6mm backing plate, 10.5mm worth of pad). While I'm keeping my M3P, I'm not going to track it anymore, so I went back to the stock brake setup to free-up some money.

Help: cannot retract one of the rear calipers piston (but the other did)

Follow-up: I removed the EPB after setting the service mode, and while I still could not wind the piston in, I saw that the piston would expand when slowly twisting the screw on the EPB side. The piston would still not change position when trying to wind-it (or unwind it) from the normal/pad...

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll remove the EPB next weekend to see how it looks.

Help: cannot retract one of the rear calipers piston (but the other did)

Thanks @gearchruncher regarding the service mode, it is really neat! Even with the EPB mode, I was not able to retract the piston - I could hear the electric motor doing its winding, but the piston looks crooked. Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but visually it didn't seem quite right...

This car has been tracked, so that really throws any regular mileage out of the window.

Help: cannot retract one of the rear calipers piston (but the other did)

Model 3P 2019: I was able to retract the rear driver-side caliper piston and install new pads; but I cannot do the same on the passenger side (I'm confused and tired after trying for two hours). My procedure for both was: -Remove caliper from bracket -Set the towing service mode -Unplug the...

I have set of four 18x9.5'' Apex EX-7 Anthracite wheels in excellent condition, along with Yoko A052's with around 60% thread remaining. Wheels and tires have been used for three HPDE's and driving to/from the events, so really not much mileage. There is no curb rash, just a few small nicks...

For sale: new Endless front brake pads, in EX99 compound, for the Model 3 Performance. No need for these...

2021 p3D handling concerns. I'm disappointed [because suspension too soft]

Is the extra width of a 265 tire worth it for street driving? [over-tiring the car?] I say it because I do like the 20'' PS4S's in the M3P, already have a wheel/tire APEX EC-7 set for the track in 265/40R18, but the idea of a light 19'' wheelset for normal driving has me thinking - will I regret...

Tesla removes regenerative braking strength option

Totally agree with the OP. Fine myself with the aggressive regen (really like it), but my wife tends to pulse the accelerator on/off like mentioned in the thread, and this makes the rest of us sea-sick. In low regen it is fine and matches her regular SUV. Doesn’t make sense to remove the...

MPP AWD/Performance Coilover Impression and Installation

For the fronts, step 13 as of today "Install the top hat and torque nut...", I think it makes more sense to partially tighten the top nut and then move the combined front upper control arm + coilover back into the body, partially align the whole thing with the 13mm and 15mm bolts, and then...

    Sound Deadening Model 3

@aspec818 - thanks again for the materials list. Trying to order the materials, is there a reason to get MLV rather than Luxury Liner Pro for the curvy areas of the wheel well, or can I just use Luxury Liner Pro for everything?

MPP AWD/Performance Coilover Impression and Installation

Over the Christmas break I installed the MPP suspension myself, first time doing such thing. Other than the spring removal which was stressful, it was rather straightforward; note that I had also installed the rear toe/camber arms and the front control arms, so I was familiar with what it would...

    Sound Deadening Model 3

Hi @aspec818 - that was a great post, thanks! Would you mind sharing the list of materials for the last step that did the most improvements, with the mass loaded vinyl? I'll probably attempt it myself as the next project (haven't done much in regards to sound deadening). Also if there's another...

NEW APEX Race Parts 18x9.5" ET34 EC-7R (Forged)

I bought their regular EC-7 in 18x9.5'' Anthracite as a track set, and really like the design and looks; also the $284 special price at the time was really good. Haven't tracked them yet - waiting for the my SA2020 helmet to arrive - but still, the design has great clearance for the brake...

    Track camber: arms vs coilovers

So @destructure00, do you recommend the alignment kit? Sounds useful as a double check after a full alignment and for minor adjustments to/from the track. For example, I installed the rear arms last weekend, took it a normal alignment shop so I could still drive while waiting for the MPP FUCAs...

Sway Bars, End Links, and Rear Control Arms Installation & Impression

@Bigtuna00 - well, their description of the end bar directly touching the control arm sounds different to our common issue of having the end link rubbing the arm, but maybe it’s the same root cause. I don’t have any blue paint transfer, for example. But Eduardo at UP has contacted me via...

Sway Bars, End Links, and Rear Control Arms Installation & Impression

Well, since @UnpluggedP is responding to this thread: a) Your sway bar instructions call for torquing the sway bar end-link nuts to 93 ft-lbs which is not only insanely high, it caused my rear end-link to snap. Never got a reply when I sent a web form about this. Doesn't anybody review the...

UP Front Sway Bar Endlink Rubbing

@webbah - nice! I left my rears in the medium setting, it seemed pretty good around the neighborhood, maybe more playful. And if it oversteers at the track it's very easy to change the setting.

UP Front Sway Bar Endlink Rubbing

They never replied after I left them a message via their website that their wrong torque settings caused my rear end link to snap. I’m not going to waste more time with them or their products.
  29. J

UP Front Sway Bar Endlink Rubbing

I just checked and there’s barely +/- 1mm of play. So for sure not slotted! I’m going to put back the stock front bar back and set the rear to the lowest setting. Doing some rough calculations yesterday the ratio looked similar or at least not too far off from the UP front low/rear medium.

Sway Bars, End Links, and Rear Control Arms Installation & Impression

I measured 20mm yesterday on the rear sway bar of the Performance model - so 19.6mm sounds right.

UP Front Sway Bar Endlink Rubbing

I am pretty sure there is a bit of slop on the front mounts, that’s why I mentioned it. I’ll try on the weekend, although I hate having to remove the cover to get to them. The rear mounts have a lot, I just centered them.

Sway Bars, End Links, and Rear Control Arms Installation & Impression

Me too, will do the same. Very upset at this sloppy design (and instructions, and no support). Maybe put the front stock bar back for now, and set the rears to the low setting?
  34. J

UP Front Sway Bar Endlink Rubbing

Mine rubs as well - would moving the the mountings brackets forward help (I think there is some room), or is it just the drill hole that matters here? (already had the issue of the totally wrong torque specs documentation, now this!!)

UP sway bar install - end link snapped following torque spec

Just to document the experience - the Tesla replacement end links were $42 each. It took 10 days to get them, including two holidays (Christmas and New Year's). So not horrible, but it could be better (I can normally get Honda parts within 2 days from the dealer). I ended-up going with 60 lb-ft...

    Track junkies, need some info

And that’s what I’m wrestling with. Want to do an HPDE after 12 years, have already done basic brake work, but don’t want to destroy $1300 worth of PS4S tires either (definitely will consider wheels/tires if I keep going). Would the camber arms with stock tires allow me to enjoy the day with...

UP sway bar install - end link snapped following torque spec

Thanks @kbecks13 for the values, those sound realistic. I cannot remember the verbal quote for the replacement links, between $40 to $60 each (I'll post it once I get them). Price was not a problem, worry is.. when will they arrive? I did use both of my torque wrenches from CDI, which is a brand...

UP sway bar install - end link snapped following torque spec

Yesterday everything was going good until I followed the recommended UP sway bar end link nut torque spec of 93 lb-ft, which caused the rear end link to snap. That torque value did seem high to me in the first place, should have acted on my instincts. The install guide is here: model 3 sway...
