    Tesla Alternative?

Check for "burglar" signs in the area, usually chalk symbols on pavements and walls. Unlikely they were looking for a water meter as it's very very rare for a domestic property in Scotland to have one. Water is not metered, instead you pay a fixed price based on the council tax band. You can...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Just tried to view teslamate after a few days and received `502 Bad Gateway`. This was due to insufficient storage space having used up the 25GB allowance on my server. No data lost, which is good. `sudo docker system prune` freed up 10GB of space and my teslamate instance is now accessible...

Decent MOT in the North East

Also had an MOT at Kwikfit today. Passed with no advisories however they did provide a supplementary vehicle health check: Quite shocked that all 4 tyres are wearing evenly, will have to confirm that myself at some point. Probably should have told them that the spare tyre is kept in the loft :)

How to remove my pod point tethered charger from Tesla charge port? (Without using the screen in the car)

I've got a set of 4 zigbee buttons in the hallway that use the Tesla API through home assistant to lock/unlock car/unlock charger. Top 2 send a text to speech announcement to select speakers around the house when their friends are at the door. Bottom 2 for lock/unlock the car and double press...

    [UK] 2023.44

Not sure if it's the 23.44 update or the recent map update however when using navigation, I'm now reminded to keep right going past each motorway junction. Gets a bit frustrating on long journeys. In addition, each junction I pass is now considered a turn, so looking at the navigation I've got...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I registered a new company but only got as far as estimating setup costs. We won a new contract in the other company so the dev team was too busy to take on the work. I see a couple of other companies ran with that idea anyway so I closed the new company down.

[GUIDE] Automations for Octopus Intelligent with Home Assistant

I can't see anything obviously wrong with this setup, but the automation is triggered based on a state change so it may have failed based on the charging state that the podpoint was in before you last saved/edited the automation. That could explain why the car started to charge when you plugged...

Other all-season tyre options apart from CrossClimate 2...

I've been running the Kumho Solus 4S for about 4k miles. Been very happy with them touring Europe in Summer or driving sub zero temperatures in the Scottish Highlands. Not sure if you've already discounted them but thought I'd suggest as an all season alternative.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Saw the release notification from Adrian last night so just catching up with this thread... Do we mean a new API call that's a part of the...

    Less updates for older cars?

Per Teslamate my median time between updates on my 2020 Model 3 is 15 days. That's all updates including minor revisions, I could filter this list and only look for the major revisions but a quick scan would suggest roughly every 4 weeks since ownership: Sorted by 'since previous update'...

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

Yup, had to repair a previous pressure washer as the internals cracked from freezing water/expanding ice. Just need to make sure the water is purged before a freeze or as good practice, after every use in the winter months. Or you can use the intake hose to pull through some antifreeze.
  25. Medved_77

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

For the non-pressurised hose I'm using a 'Gardena' connector to the pressure washer which has been on for several years and hasn't caused any issues. I think it may have been this one: https://www.gardena.com/uk/products/watering/hose-fittings/hose-connector-stop-valve-12-mm/967654401.html...

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

Guess this belongs here.... Was fed up of dragging my pressure washer from the shed to the driveway, running an extension lead from one side of the house to the other then dragging the garden hose to connect to the pressure washer, and getting all the cables in a muddle. So I.... 1. Replaced...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Currently waiting to charge at the Trafford Centre, all 18 stalls are full. Luckily I'm in no rush. I have no general objection to opening the network up to other manufacturers but for some reason allowing commercial vehicles to also use the network doesn't sit right with me. 5 of the 18...

The AA, Insurance etc renewal - why do we have to play these games?

Been using this for years and definitely got my money's worth. Higher rate of interest on current account balances as well as lost key cover too IIRC. Also, no charges for using your card abroad. Model S MOT Recommendations? (North London)

Were their other lifts 4 post as well, i.e.lifts from the tyres, not the jacking points? MOT can only be done on a 4 post lift and for cars, must be either class 4 or 7 approved. Class 7 is for cars longer than 5.2m IIRC and I suspect there are weight restrictions too.

Notes from a Small Roadtrip - UK to Norway via Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden

Did a lot of that route in July, including the same crossing from/to Kristiansand/Hirtshals. Also went to Miniatur Wunderland as we had 2 nights in Hamburg. The VR experience was very entertaining but my favourite bit was watching the Airbus A300-600ST (Beluga) take off :)

    Pod Point Flex

I get that. I just struggle to understand how this will work at scale, given I have no ongoing financial interactions with my charge point company. I'm assuming for most on a dual tariff, they'll need an incentive to charge during peak hours at 4x the cost of off peak. Keeping a tally and...

What do you do with your house keys (for those that use their phone as a car key)?

When buying replacement cylinder locks, try to find the anti-snap versions. Usually they're only a few £s more. Also, think carefully about installing a thumbturn if your door contains any glass that could easily be smashed to give access to the thumbturn.
