    Launch is Imminent

Only time will tell how popular the CT will be. Why do you think you can predict the future? The Model Y is currently one of the best selling vehicles, it doesn't matter if it took over the full size SUV market or not. The CT will be it's own market. If it's popular, it's popular, doesn't matter...

Oops sold a call yesterday for $250 strike. Ugh what a dumb ass. Now what?

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

I'm mainly just trying to hold on to my shares for the long term, but add to my share count by selling relatively safe calls. I'm just kind of messing around to see if it's worth playing around with. I wanted to experience needing to roll calls, but with only one or two calls before I sold 20 or...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Seems bazaar that I would need to take a 20hr course to understand how to roll a CC. I don't really learn that way. I need to experience it first hand. I've watched the course videos that would pertain to rolling CCs, and watched YouTube videos about it. Am I not even close in my above scenario...

Not sure if I completely understand the concept of rolling an option. I was kind of waiting to get into the situation where I might need to figure it out. I have 2 x CC $207 expiring this Friday. So would a roll be to sell two CCs DTE 03/31 at around the same price as I would need to BTC the...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

I'm here trying to figure out if I can sell covered calls far enough out of the money to keep them from getting exercised, but yet bring in some extra cash into my Roth, so I can buy more shares. It's looking doable. Otherwise I can't increase my share count in my Roth for almost another year. I...

Is there a particular day and/or time of day that tends to be best for selling weeklies? What strategy do you guys use for timing your sales?

What if you have 600% gains on your shares? Wouldn't that significantly change this dynamic?
  14. G

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Yes, you can withdraw the principle without any taxes or penalties, but any early withdrawals of gains are taxed at income tax rates and have a 10% penalty.
  15. G

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Wouldn't the lack of deductions for losses be offset by not having to pay taxes on my gains, if the calls I sold are exercised? The plan is to be conservative and not let any calls be exercised, but if that happens I can just immediately turn around and buy shares again without any tax...
  16. G

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

It's no more double taxed than a taxable brokerage account. The only difference is the 10% penalty and (I'm guessing) no long term capitol gains discount. The principle going into your taxable brokerage account has already been taxed too. I don't think Roth's have a SEPP option.
  17. G

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Wouldn't it be better to do this in a Roth, if the calls I sold were exercised? Then I wouldn't have to pay capital gains tax. The other big difference is I don't have 4,000 shares in a taxable account, so I can't really play the selling calls game in any other account other than my Roth. I...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

On Tuesday close to market close, and stock price was at $144.40, I almost sold 1/27 calls with 165 strike for .80. Luckily I listened to you guys and didn't do it because of earnings week. I thought there would be no way we would close above $165 today. If I had sold those would there even be...

Just sold 2/3 240cc for .39. Is that even possible to be at 240 by the end of next week? I think I'm seeing why you guys warned me to stay away. Too late now!

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

You're kicking my ass. I'm already down 400% on my $205cc 2/3 for .37 that I just sold. Talk about learning the hard way. Maybe I should sell some more at these new and improved prices.

This week is unprecedented, right? What other weeks have we had such a huge percetage gain from the week's low to the week's high. Currently at 28%. Or am I just high?
  23. G

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Just sold 20 CC 205s for 2/3 for.37. This seems extremely safe based on history. Aren't we already at a history making week? The gains this week are way more than the notorious Hertz deal. Based on history we should have never breached 165 today. Not advice and obviously I don't know what the...

I'm all back in after panic selling 2,000 shares on capitulation day. I lost 327 shares with that winning move. So about a $52,000 loss so far at this stock price. I'm hoping to be able to make it back selling weekly calls on about 4,000 shares. I would like to stay real conservative and not...

Ok back to this for a minute: So based on this, in all of 2022 you wouldn't have lost any shares if all of your weekly calls were sold at a price at least 16% higher than the current price? Okay so there's no way to just keep it fairly simple. Buy the best 2025 LEAP and keep rolling it if I have to. Seems like sitting here selling puts while the stock price heads back up would be way more riskier and painful to watch. What am I missing? Both strategies rely on similar luck, or...

Thank you for all of the information and your time it took to compose. Hypothetically if the stock price gets back to $200 in a month or two, wouldn't I be much further ahead to just purchase what shares I could at a loss Monday morning, or even further ahead if I bought LEAPs? Don't leaps...

So if you're going to sell at the bottom, then it's really only a good move if you're going to turn around and buy LEAPs. No margin. Just kind of lost my sanity when I was reading doom and gloom comments about the bloodbath these price cuts were going to cause. I've just lost so much already. Climate Change Denial

Some geologists think the term, "fossil fuels" is a misnomer, because zillions of dinosaurs would have had to die in several big piles all over the world to make the oil deposits. Instead, the earth may be producing it from pressure and heat working on the molten substances below. In that case...
