Possible to lock M3 with cellphone in car?

Having it on wifi hotspot to allow car to update when no other wifi available. :-)

    High mileage check-in

Not high mileage but 37,000km on my 2019 M3SR+. Bought Sept 2019, just did first service today - air filters and windshield wipers. Love this car!

    Fuel/Maintenance Savings vs. reasonable expectations

Something many of the answers don't appear to discuss (I haven't checked very one), is free charging. Here in the TOronto Canada aea, cities have numerous free charging stations. My small city of Burlington offers them in their parking lots, which are free to park in from 6pm each day and all...

    Chicago Condo Charging Station

Ask an insurance agent. When I installed mine, I called my insurance and they had no idea what to do or if it was even possible. After all, its an electrical connection and a plug (or Tesla charger). Typically, the electrical connection belongs to the condo and hence their insurance should...

What's your best piece of Advice for a newbie?

Lots of great advice here. There is a learning and a trust curve to a new EV driver. Don't sweat the small stuff and don't get hung up with mileage - just ensure you have enough charge for your daily driving. I see far too many worrying about the numbers reached per charge. Treat it like your...

[Is a model 3 a good purchase for someone who is] Not computer literate

If he is your friend, let him sit in yours an take it around the block once he has played with the control screen a little. Easy enough to determine his skillset and comfort level. That's what friends are for

Car kicks up dust and dirt on rear: Any solutions?

Wash or dust after every drive? Some folks have way too much time on their hands. Its a car. That I drive when needed (21,00km in a year give or take). It's been washed probably less than half a dozen times. Here in Toronto cars get real dirty every day you drive in winter, so comes with the...

    High mileage Model 3's

Congrats! I'm only around 22,000km on my Sept 19 SR+ plus no issues (I did have to refill the washer fluid). I use winter tires so they get changed each spring and fall. I do wish it was quieter and had suspension as its a pretty bumpy ride but otherwise love it.

    High mileage Model 3's

I had a 2010 GLK350 with 280,000kms on it. Had no major problems, regular service basically over that time. It was a fantastic car. Bought the Tesla 3 SR+ as I didn't want any hassles when things did start going wrong, plus of course wanted a Tesla so no gas costs once I retired. Truly loved the...

Any owners of Galaxy S20 FE 5G/Phone key reliability?

I bought my wife the Galaxy 20FE for just that reason. Her old model 6 phone wasn't connecting to the car. She has had no problems since getting the 20FE

    TeslaFi vs Teslascope

I am using Tezlab a newer app on my Android Note 9. Like the interface and they are constantly adding to it. I tried Teslafi but found the interface hard to deal with. Tezlab lets my car go to deep sleep easily each night.

    Getting pissed with degredation

I have to wonder. Did everyone here obsess over their ICE gas mileage as much as this? I'm sure it degraded as much or more as needed maintenance was missed or the car aged yet most folks didn't give it a thought. The batteries are warranted for 8 years and so far, all evidence points to them...

Anyone Purchased the Hansshow Heads-up Display?

Not to be picky but so many folks write this - you only have one head - its a Head-Up display. :-) I had them on previous cars and really liked it, not sure how useful it is on a Tesla since, as many point out, the large display is so close and easily legible. That said, I can see the allure if...

    Rotating the screen toward driver

I find it would be nice to move the screen away slightly tot he right. When driving, my hand at 2o/c is covering part of the screen showing the car and surrounding obstacles (cars etc). I have to take my right hand off the wheel to see. Be nice if that could be resolved by moving it a bit

    2 years free supercharging incentive

I got it on my Sept 19 build SR+ I heard about it and got my sales rep to inquire and it shoed up in my account. Good till Oct 2021 (I used it for a 5k trip to Florida and back, was great

Dumb Question: To supress explicit lyrics, do I switch the "Explicit Content" switch on or ff?

Who says I think its a stupid idea of Tesla's? Or defend the fact it doesn't work? All I indicated was if it wasn't working, find another solution, like say - any one of a million stations that are unlikely to have curse words? :-)

Whose M3 has NEVER been back to SC for ANY reason? Any??

No SC or Home service has ever been needed. That said, I did ask the SC to install the mud flaps for me which they provided for free, which they did.

Dumb Question: To supress explicit lyrics, do I switch the "Explicit Content" switch on or ff?

maybe, just tune to a different channel/station. People are far too sensitive these days, trust me, your kids are going to hear a lot worse at school and play at some point. Teach them to differentiate between good language and bad and realize that the world is a big place and they will always...

    2020.12.6 is downloading!!

My 2019 SR+ has 12.5 and HW3 and it shows the traffic lights and stop signs. I do not have FSD. I haven't tested it to see if it actually stops when on Autopilot but if definitely shows them at least including the current color of the light. "All new Tesla cars come standard with Autopilot as...

Canadian premium connectivity coming to an end.

I just got the email also (SR+). I really like the traffic and map view and made great use of Spotify when we took the car to Florida in March 3 days each way. Will likely pay for the service although I wish they would cut us a break and charge us in Cdn dollars versus US plus exchange rate :-)

    2020.8.3 Updating hitting now...

I may be wrong as math is not my thing but a sample size calc online indicates with a population of a million you need 1066 sample for a 95% confidence level plus or minus 3%. Just saying..:-)

    Unexpected deceleration in autopilot

If you read the manual it warns you this may happen :-) Warning: Traffic-Aware Cruise Control may occasionally cause Model 3 to brake when not required or when you are not expecting it. This can be caused by closely following a vehicle ahead, detecting vehicles or objects in adjacent lanes...

TeslaFi or Not? That is the Question

I tried Teslafi and found it to be a bit confusing on the sleep part. A good app, just not for me. I switched to Tezlab Sessions | TezLab It easily puts MissT to sleep and provides all the info I need - at least for now as I am a fairly new Tesla user.

1,200 Mile Road Trip to Houston, TX - Am I Crazy?

We just returned form a 1330 mile trip to Florida and back in our SR+ with snow tires and rims on. (And are now in self isolation :) LOL ) While we did have some range anxiety as new users on our first long trip it worked out fine. Go for it and learn

Sentry Mode used 18 miles of battery overnight.

I have a 500Gb hard drive attached for mine, half for music and the rest for SentryCam. Been working fine.

Anyone else like a Conservative mode for Navigation?

thanks for all the feedback. As for picking each charger stop, that's just awkward as it isn't hard to accidentally pick one too far off the roads you want to travel - much easier if Tesla just did it for you - or at least, offered the option. On route I have added a charger stop as I was...

Anyone else like a Conservative mode for Navigation?

On our recent trip to Florida from Canada I thought how nice it would be to have a conservative mode on the Navigation, one you could set to indicate you want 10-15-20% remaining power at each stop. We had a ton of range anxiety on the trip as the indicator would show 5% to next charger but on...

    Percent or Miles & Why?

I just did a trip from Toronto to Florida over 3 days. Using miles. Perhaps % would be better as we definitely had range anxiety on the very first leg going there (car was telling us to go 20kph slower than limit to get to next stop - even though there was a station on the way we could recharge...

VA State Inspection - Virginia Beach

can I ask what you have to get inspected? In Ontario we stopped the ICE inspections a few years ago. With an EV I figured no inspections necessary

    Heavy/Obese drivers - Model 3

I'm not as heavy (6ft and 210Lbs) but I find the seat bolsters a tad tight. It seems I rest on them while driving. Never had any difficulty with the seat movement when changing it but wish they were a little wider. Am going on my first long road trip in a coupe weeks so will see how it is (2400...

Tesla Model 3 SR+ with 100 mile round trip commute

First off, I think many of us would love a Long range dual motore but as @bnikel mentions, for many of us that extra 9k (15k for we Canadians as we lose the $5k rebate on those) is just over our budget. That said, while I'd love longer range (who wouldn't), you have more than enough power for...

Model 3 Rivet sizes for Mud Guards?

That I don't know. I have yet to try mobile service. However, they are easy to install so I imagine they certainly could.

Wow, we need to find another way to heat EVs

Driving in the winter here in Ontario and doing 120kph for maybe half to two thirds of the trip my car Tezlab shows about 68% efficiency.

Poll: Is FSD Worth the Cost?

I'd love to try it and see for myself however at $10,000 in Canada it is way overpriced. That's half the price of a cheap ICE car. And the Model 3SR+ I have is expensive enough without it. Especially as I read lal these comments. If it were a few thousand I could see it, but not at this price

Premium option demo added in January

thanks. Nothing on my app and nothing related to the "connectivity" answer, but thanks. I know there was a 30 day free period for my SR+ but I am into the second month of free Premium. Not complaining, just wondering when I will hear I need to upgrade and start paying :-)

Premium option demo added in January

All of a sudden I started getting Premium options of live traffic, satellite view and web browser. Love it. I understand its going to be a pay option of $10 a month (likely more for we Canadians) but it was supposed to be only for January with option to pay following. I have heard nothing about...
