Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Given the competency of FSD v12.3 and given the rate of progress lately, I have to admit I find this a silly notion. We still have almost six years for this decade, do you truly think FSD won't be solved to a high enough level to enable RT's within that timeframe? Honestly? 🤨

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wonder how he plans to do that though? Will he rebuild the teams he just let go, or begin a completely different strategy on how to build the SC network going forward? 🤔

Yep, excellent read, and I think it will be accurate over time too.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The question of whether or not RT's are better or worse for the world could be an entire debate unto itself. The general conception is once TaaS becomes cheaper than car ownership it will actually increase traffic on roads. Lowering the cost of anything usually increases the use of said thing...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Precisely. Even at meager margins a Tesla RT fleet has massive revenue potential. If I hadn't done the math myself in my spreadsheet I wouldn't believe the numbers, that's how ludicrously large they get. At "good" margins revenues truly get laughingly large.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is where I believe Tesla will be very different than Uber. Rather than keep prices high to earn nice profits, I think Elon will slice robotaxi margins to thin levels in order to aggressively push adoption. I see many TSLA bulls forecasting trillions in revenues from RT's, but my hunch is...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is common, most people have a hard time comprehending the disruptive impact autonomy will have on the world. To be short, you are thinking too small. FSD isn't just about robotic taxis, its about TaaS (Transportation as a Service). People using robotaxis for ALL mobility, not just what...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

What's a realistic upside from here for TSLA? My hunch is we stay mostly flat for 2024, finally beat our ATH of $415 in late 2025, and begin to skyrocket in 2026 once RT's are driving and earning and RT production is well underway. Somewhere around 2027 or 2028 Optimus production and sales...

But that's trading, not long term investing. You are attempting to time the market, and if it works then great for you. Long term investing is holding a stock through the dips and climbs, buying more when it dips rather than selling out before the potential dips. How many expected 2019 to be...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Here is why I disagree with you: You can certainly rationalize why TSLA investors might remain holding the stock even through all of this turmoil and down times. Confidence in Tesla's future is why many investors still own and hold TSLA. Energy, autonomy, and Optimus are massive products...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's an interesting idea. Such a thread would certainly be easier to parse and read than this one has become. However, my only concern with such a theoretical thread is your list is almost all Tesla bulls, optimists on the company who rarely see anything wrong with what Tesla or Elon does...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Why are you being a contortionist? No one is saying ONLY 500 people worked on SC's, but we know for a fact that the 500 person team which handled customer contacts and site installations on the business side, the people responsible for expanding the network for the US, were let go, and the...
  14. Mengy

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I disagree because I didn't think stating 500 employees were let go was generalizing? Nor would I call it a portion when it was the majority of the team, its more apt to say a small portion were kept on staff instead. It's still a massive hit to Tesla's SC growth potential. It means the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wouldn't presume to say Elon has mismanaged Tesla, but I would say he's made some decisions which have not been favorable to TSLA investors over the past few years. I feel much of the stock's pain is his doing, even though I do feel Tesla the company is doing okay. Except for laying off the...

  17. Mengy

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That does seem very likely unless the pace of updates slows. Maybe not 12.6 but probably 12.5.
  18. Mengy

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Excellent. It will be very interesting to see the pace of progress between 12.3 and 12.4. This is important for the 8/8 event as it gives context to how ready FSD will be for RT production starting late next year.

That's because I've been posting less in the past few days, so I haven't been upsetting uber bulls with my conservative yet practical outlooks for the stock. 😁 I also spent most of the rainy weekend spreading Managed Democracy in Helldivers 2 and barely read the forums, so I've no idea why the...

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

Lucid reported Q1 2024 results, and they are not promising. Revenue of $172.7 million, 16% higher than a year ago. but loss per share was $0.30 (higher than estimates of $0.25) with adjusted EBITDA loss of $598.4 million. Lucid appears to be stuck in a rut for over a year now, revenues are...

I'm not so sure. Elon is not the type of CEO Berkshire prefers to invest in. Warren (and Charlie was like this too) prefer standard business oriented CEO's, meaning predictable and dependable, dare I say "cookie cutter". While Warren may admire Elon for what he's accomplished, he has stated...

I don't either. I had FSD v12 for one month and my car slowed down and stopped for a cat crossing the road once, and a racoon at night another time, so I find it very hard to believe FSD could miss or hit something as large as a mannequin.

None of us can know for certain why Tesla sales seem to be having difficulties, but there is a list of potential reasons: - Interest rates are high. I know some people say the price cuts offset interest rates leaving monthly payments largely unchanged, but many car buyers won't take a loan...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, I don't feel Tesla backing out of expanding the SC network to allow third party charging companies to fill the void is necessarily a good thing for EV drivers. Who here has ever used Electrify America, Chargepoint, or EVGO sites to charge? 😣
  31. Mengy

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not necessarily. Volumes will likely increase slowly per Elon and Tesla as the affordable EV will sell in good volumes due to lower pricing. Also battery costs are still declining over time, and with the new affordable EV's being built on the 3&Y lines the capital expenditures for those lower...

That is not what Elon nor Tesla said, they never used the word "interim". You are assuming that. This is the exact statement from the Q1 2024 ER, page 10 under Products: "We have updated our future vehicle line-up to accelerate the launch of new models ahead of our previously communicated...

I didn't say Tesla won't build new factories. I'm saying new factories might only make RT's, Megapacks, and Optimus going forward, not SX3Y or CT. And I'm not "filling in any blanks with despair", my post earlier today was a theory I had. A THEORY, I've never once said it is a certainty or...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes, but Elon has now confirmed the unboxed line is 100% only for Robotaxi's. If Mexico will only be building unboxed vehicles then it will likely be building RT's only. If Mexico was going to build 3's, Y's, or CT's then there would be little reason to delay its construction, other than...

All true, but.... Sure, but which part of the article was a lie? It does now seem like at least some of it was rooted in truth, Reuters only had half the story though. True, but continuing with the current S3XY, CT, and Semi while putting all new R&D into autonomy would be investing into a...

I was outside mowing the grass this morning (on my EGO electric zero turn!) thinking about all the odd Tesla news we've seen the past few weeks, when a thought occurred to me which would be very relevant to TSLA investing IF its accurate: What if Tesla is pivoting away hard from consumer EV...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think in this case, many of us are simply very confused as to the "why". Superchargers were a profitable division of Tesla on their own, one absolutely required for EV adoption, not only for Tesla now but every OEM in the US. To fire the entire SC team out of nowhere, well I think its...

But, Tesla just got the entire North American EV market to shift to their NACS standard, and everyone is signing on to use the Tesla Supercharging Network. Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So Tesla is going to slow down the rate of supercharger deployment? While increasing production and giving all other EV brands access to the network as well? Maybe its me, but shouldn't they be increasing the rate of expansion, not slowing it?!?!? 🤨

I don't understand why Musk would lay off the entire supercharger team, like what was so wrong that literally everyone had to be let go? What is his plan to rebuild such a large team? All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Welp tomorrow is my last day of free FSD. I'm going to miss it when its gone, but not enough to pay $99/month for it. I'm still fine with just the free autopilot, at least until they reach Level 5 FSD and the nags are completely gone. Maybe then I'd pay the $99/mo for it.
