Charging desert on east side of Cincinnati

Yes, I know: we lived there and I worked downtown. It takes 30 to 40 minutes to get to the nearest charger and there is often a wait to charge. Meijers has all of the chargers in Cincinnati and many up thru Indianapolis into Chicago. There is a Meijers east of Cincinnati but no charger. The...

Charging desert on east side of Cincinnati

I recently spent time in the Cincinnati area near Batavia. I was shocked to find NO chargers anywhere in the area: not even any destination chargers. Tesla has 3 supercharger locations around the beltway but none on the east side. Only one in northern KY is 250k and the 3 times I tried to use...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

I pull this LivinLite Quicksilver 6.0 which is <900 lbs dry weight. I don’t even notice I’m pulling it so you won’t either with your motorcycle trailer. Minimal hit to efficiency due to the low weight and drag.

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

I use this aluminum ball mount: Alumistinger. Curt and others make a similar one. Note the greaseless ball at Anderson. I love that I don’t have messy grease to contend with.

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

Now that you have towed and used the Alto, can you post about your experience and efficiency stats? Thanks.

    Model Y hitch receiver tolerance.

Has anyone used this with success? We’re you able to tighten the Allen screws inside the bumper? Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Anti-Rattle/Gen-Y-Hitch/325-GH-033.html

Upsized MYLR Induction tires to 265/40 Michelin PS4 AS

I am now at 30k on my Goodyear Eagle F1. While I still have some tread life before needing to be replaced, I typically don’t wait until it becomes critical. I have no complaints about the stock Eagles but reading some posts here, seems some folks think they are inferior. Is there a consensus on...

    Superchargers fees have been increased

Has anyone else noticed that SC KWh charges have increased recently? In my travels it appears I am now paying +20% increase. Many VA chargers were $.25 and now they are $.30. Did I miss a Tesla notice about price changes?

Safety Features - wish it had cross traffic/blind spot audible warning

I’m not about to “sell” my Tesla but most of the responses seem to indicate that it is not needed or Tesla screwed up by not having a radar in the rear. It will be very interesting to see how Tesla implements FSD level 4 and 5 without RCTW and reverse AEB. Surely you agree the vehicle will have...

Safety Features - wish it had cross traffic/blind spot audible warning

And also it’s sonic sensors which Tesla uses. Have you never parked in a lot that mandated no backing into the space. They exist. Have you ever seen people hit other cars when trying to back in? I’m not buying this explanations: seems lame.

Safety Features - wish it had cross traffic/blind spot audible warning

We have blind spot monitoring. RCTW systems often use the same hardware.

Safety Features - wish it had cross traffic/blind spot audible warning

Many RCTW systems use ultrasonic sensors in combination with backup cameras. Isn’t that what the 4 rear bumper buttons are?

Safety Features - wish it had cross traffic/blind spot audible warning

Consumer Reports just posted a complete list of safety features for each car brand (Jan 2021). The list is quite extensive for how many have rear cross traffic warning. I really like my Tesla but it totally baffles me why we don’t have this features. It is very useful. Just last week, my wife...

Ultimate EV Road Trip - Circumnavigating North America

Sounds like it was a great trip. I'd love to view your pics but the link takes me to an empty Google album.

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

My assessment is the same as “sleepydoc”. Maybe next week when I make a 1000+ mile trip, I’ll have a more thorough experience. I’m 70 and wear progressive lenses and can read the fonts. Yes, bigger would be nice but I’ll give the designers more time to prove they know what is best for the...

    Firmware 2020.44.X

Not in my experience driving thru central VA. Best I can tell, each time I crested a hill it would briefly hard break. Made my wife nervous. Sometime heavy shadow/sun would also do it.

    Firmware 2020.44.X

Maybe I need some help. I have 2020.44.10.1 update. Yesterday, I drove the entire length of rte 29 through central VA. It is mostly divided 4-lane but not limited access. The speed limit changes up and down from 45 to 65 mph. Why don’t we have the option to track the speed limit up and down...

Tesla Working on Driver Monitoring System

I totally agree with you. I too don’t trust FSD to the point I would become complacent but being able to relax my grip to the point to nag me less.

Supercharger - Washington, DC (Market Street NE)

NE Washington DC superchargers I’m back in DC and the chargers in the Dakota Crossing shopping center still are not active. Does anyone know why or when they will be active? I am so close to this one and I don’t like driving 20 minutes to otherwise do my charging.

Elon; The Y Needs this update..

I agree. My wife’s 2018 Subaru Outback has both cross-traffic backup alert and emergency braking. And it works very well.

Blog New Autopilot Feature Keeps Cars in Passing Lane

Under FSD, we had the option to confirm lane changes. I had this set this way because I didn’t like that the car would go back to the right lane even when a tractor trailer was only a qtr mike ahead and I knew I would have to change lanes again. I do drive this way (staying in the left lane as...

Scary incident at an HOV entrance

Thanks, I have been concerned this might be the case. I’m expecting my Tesla to treat the entrance as if it is a passing lane so I am being super alert now that I had this experience.

    Heat pump acoustic cover

Hmmm. According to Munro (episode 13), Elon told him they were going to address the noise by retrofitting all Ys with the insulator. I also just saw this post. Tesla Begins Model Y Heat Pump Noise Cancellation Retrofits. Kinda answered my own question.

Scary incident at an HOV entrance

Here is a sample picture of an HOV lane. The barrier gates are up in this photo unlike when my incident happened. I hope to learn and understand why the navigation system did not recognize these barriers and react to avoid them. I do understand NOA is “ beta” so at a minimum I hope Tesla is...

Scary incident at an HOV entrance

On day 3 of owning my Tesla Model Y (June 25), we were driving north on I95 just south of the DC area. I was using NOA with “ use HOV lanes” engaged. It was late afternoon and the HOV Express lanes were being used for southbound traffic only. At each potential entrance onto the Express lanes...

    Heat pump acoustic cover

Does anyone know when Tesla will start supplying the heat pump insulator to the SCs for installation on existing Model Y? I love my Model Y but Tesla’s poor communication is a bit frustrating. I tried to contact the advisor I worked with for my delivery but he is very slow to respond to my...

    Dope: Rashed Uberturbines First Week

I did the same on day 2. Anyway, another suggested a good short term fix is a sharpie permanent marker. I sanded the area first then applied the sharpie. It’s really not bad. It will do until Tesla offers us an Induction wheel paint touch up.

    Should I Cancel Y?

I live 3 hrs from my Tesla Service center. Like so many, we have read and watched all the stories about mostly cosmetic quality issues. yesterday I went for my Model Y AWD delivery. I got there too early to have my car ready. There was another ready waiting for the owner so my friend and I...

    Tesla Insurance

Does anyone have information about when Tesla will offer insurance in states beyond California? I ordered my Model Y and want to consider Tesla’s insurance in North Carolina. Thanks
