    Long-range or Performance

I have a 2020 P with 20" wheels, 58K miles and no pothole damage or wheel/tire replacement needed here (in Seattle area like the OP). In looking at TCO there was a negligible difference in overall cost (lower efficiency and more expensive tires) over 150K miles so I went with the P. As an aside...

Tried it out today on my way to Pullman. 208kW when plugged in at 15%SOC

    Plug Insights survey

I have signed up and received several reports since. The only gripe I have is that the comparisons to other cars is based on age not mileage, so my 2020 with 45K miles shows more degradation than similarly aged cars, however no comparison to cars with similar mileage.

Newest accident victim (of my own doing, sadly)

It is/was turned on. Perhaps it did not due me having creep off and using the throttle to creep forward? Perhaps it was due to the bumper being so high on the truck that the sonar didn’t see it??

Newest accident victim (of my own doing, sadly)

The collision happened Monday - One estimate received so far - $9075.00 + whatever else they find, estimated repair time 3-4 weeks, depending on parts availability which they said was not too bad for Model 3's (authorized Tesla body shop). I'm still waiting on two more estimates before I roll...

Newest accident victim (of my own doing, sadly)

Looks like I am the newest member of an unfortunate club. I drove into a lifted Chevy Colorado at walking speed and the bumper height mismatch meant that his bumper contacted the top of the front bumper cover at the hood interface area. I took the frunk liner out to see if I could get the...

Charging door won't open, mobile service scheduled

Just had mine replaced today - scheduled the service the week of May 17th, the first available appointment was today June 1. They replaced the outer portion of the charging port, including the door - took about 1/2 hour.

Advice on my near future purchase

I have a 100 mile R/T daily in the PNW in a Model 3 Performance - never any worries on range, even with side trips (pickup lunch, dinner, drop kids off somewhere, etc.) and even in the winter with rain and cold where my consumption is up to 330 wh/mi. If you want an S, get an S. If you are...

    What is your profession?

Marine Diesel Mechanic. Have a M3P and didn't have to particularly "save" for it - I drive 25-30K miles a year commuting, ran a cost analysis report and found this car was cheaper than a $40K sedan that got 27MPG over 5 years. I have enough experience repairing and maintaining...

Charging Issue Level 2 at Home

Similar problem here. 2020 Model 3 Performance with 19K miles. I have a Grizzl-E 40A EVSE (J1772 with OEM Tesla Adapter) on a NEMA 14-50R circuit, 6AWG THHN wire about 1.5' total wiring run length from the breaker panel which is GE 200A service, the EVSE breaker is in the first breaker bay...

    Customer Service Rant - (Sorry...)

I am right there with you in sentiment, no expectation of perfection on any vehicle. As well, I repair machinery for a living...every thing breaks so I am not emotionally invested if it does. I am however frustrated with "No trouble found" when it is evident and obvious that the problem...

    Thoughts on demo Vehicles?

I bought a demo with 711 miles and one scratched wheel at $2450 discount. Wheel repair cost $150. I put 500-600 miles a week on the car. No regrets here.

what 2nd SUV do you own right now that complement with model 3?

We have four (4) kids, currently 8-15, have a 2019 Expedition. Fits everyone well and comfortably. If it's just the wife and I, and up to three (3) kids around town we take the Model 3. We also have my paid-for later model Silverado for camping/hauling duty that can fit all six (6) of us...

    Does electric motor performance degrade?

In my professional life I deal with 3-phase alternators behind medium speed diesel engines, which are on average 2.5mWe rated. A 3-phase alternator and 3-phase induction motor are very similar in their operation, and I would presume as well their degradation is similar. Over the course of a...

Whose M3 has NEVER been back to SC for ANY reason? Any??

Two months, 5K miles - no visits. Fixed myself: Drivers door hinge and striker adjustment - chrome trim was rubbing the rear door trim when closing causing the door to be hard to open and close. Lubed rear window seals - squeaking when opening and closing.

Car will not respond unless app is running

Same problem everyone else mentioned popped up for me earlier this week + the BT phone dropping every 15 seconds and then reconnecting in the middle of the call. Did this as KenC mentions and it cured the problem for me.

    Performance Waiting Room

Mileage will be nearly doubled in a week (25K/yr average) and blue was on the list, but got cut as I also like white, which was no-charge.

    Performance Waiting Room

Well, it's my lucky day, caught a demo car available in Seattle with 711 miles on it, and snatched it today. No more waiting, and the only difference was Blue instead of White paint, and saved a couple thousand $$. Picking up tomorrow if all goes well.
