Congrats but sorry you upgraded too early. Today the upgrade is free since the AWD price dropped $3K and that makes the RWD and AWD difference less than $2K. Tesla is upgrading all Early RWD LR to AWD at no cost. Also if you ordered the FSD at $6K, Tesla will honor that price. Today it's $8K.

My take on the deliveries in general is that Tesla has so much going on that they're constantly futzing with configurations as technology pops up. I'm assuming they have 300K - 400K MY orders if not more. That's a lot of orders to mess with and that's what's happening, it's a mess they have...

I spent 30 min. with the Tesla rep back and forth as he was cagey but by putting words in his mouth and having him say yes or no, the picture became clearer. However there are new RUMORS that the LR AWD may be tweaked before production; possibly the new battery?.....we will never get a real...

Bottom line is it did not remove the variant, it's just following the Tesla plan of high price units first...however there are rumors that the LR RWD may have another tweak done before production, it will still be LR....possibly may have the new batteries either standard or an option...just a rumor.

RWD deliveries scheduled to start September 2020 is the best I could get out of calling multiple Tesla reps. They all said different things but it boils down to this fall after the AWD deliveries tail off.

Got the 'Prepare for Delivery' notice 3 weeks ago for my LR RWD. I ordered when it was still on the list. Also got the FSD for 6K since that was the price then so Tesla is delivering on it's commitment. Of course we'll see if it really happens but I'm checking my site a few times a week.

Got my 'prepare for delivery' notice for the LR RWD three weeks ago. Tesla will honor the current reservation holders but may not make the model available again..but perhaps later. Tesla is tweaking some minor design flaws while waiting for reopening.

If you don't need FSD or advanced driver assist, VW may be ok. But be warned, once FSD is here, everyone not owning a Tesla will be totally bummed out. You've wasted your money. Suggest everyone check out last year's Tesla Autonomy Day..on YouTube and this year's Battery Day coming up.
